I'm an oldschool grower. And one thing I keep seeing is all these new products and all this new equipment I never had, leading to all kinds of new problems I never had. I will plunk a few carefully selected seeds with the desired genetics into a few solo cups and 5 months later I harvest about 1lb of premium quality bud per plant and a gob of the best bubble hash on the planet. All it costs me is time, my home made compost, and water. Why you guys keep complicating this for yourselves and making this cost thousands of dollars is still the greatest mystery to me. These guys who introduce all these chemical concoctions and expensive equipment would be better off just buying it from someone else... I have a relatively short growing season and a massive risk of crop damaging hail storms during said season and ideally would like to try my hand at indoor growing, despite the weather we rarely have power outages because the infrastructure feeding our town also feeds 15 federal and state penitentiaries. I can get snow as late as June and early as Late August so i have some fun freeze/frost risks to also contend with. I absolutely do love just good ole compost and gardening with that, but thats only practical for me for a few months out of the year so i really gotta be on it and hope the weather stays in my favor. Ideally the ability to grow year round would be worth the cost of investment, and while i do love soil i want to try doing a hydroponic setup indoors. I still would need to buy nutrients, but i wouldnt need to buy soil in conjunction with nutes. I try to often buy living soil, or soils with lots of microbial and beneficial insect life, but i really don't want them in my house or the potential mess that comes from soil. If i grew my maximum 12 plants outdoors to maximize that short season, that would essentially be its own full time job on top of my full time job. With indoor growing i can do smaller easier to maintain grows throughout the whole year, maximize those yields and probably even do better in overall quantity due to the frequency of grow cycles alone while maintaining quality via smaller batches. Once the season is over here im literally cooped up in the house for the winter, so i mean why not grow if i could potentially have 2+ more 12 plant grows with max yields until spring? If i go with hydro i dont even gotta lug bags of soil through the snow from the shed, just top off the reservoir and change the water every week or two. Growing is growing my dude, aint nothing wrong with the methods so long as the plants are happy and thriving. The old ways may be cheaper, but they come at the cost of time, while the new ways save time and cost more money (and unfortunately create new problems, but thats a side effect of any technological growth), but it all kinda balances out best for the individual. Maybe someone's working two jobs in the city, and still wants to grow and they go with the fancier more automated piece of tech vs someone who's only working a few days a week or retired and has lots of property to manage/upkeep and do things like make compost and garden beds. Comes down to cost, space, and time, those variables determine a growers need for technology or not.

@@100GTAGUY When I was doing indoors 20 yrs ago, I had 1000watt Metal Halide and a 750 watt High Pressure Sodium in separate rooms. Clones going all the time and harvest every 12-14 wks.. Metal Halide for Veg, HPS for flowering.. Two Garage Fans and an AC unit to deal with the heat.. My Electric Bill was insane... And back then thats how they caught you... Seeing that sharp rise in energy use .. It just wasn't worth it living so close to Mendocino CA...Better to just buy it... But in your situation I don't see much of an alternative to doing an indoor grow.. And theres nothing more rewarding than growing your own... Good luck to you brotha!!

Hey Scotty… Recharge is the shit …. My wife ordered 3 Hardy Hibiscus roots to be planted 2 came up good after planting in soil outside… 1 never came up in about a month in the ground… so I dug it up and put the whole root in a bucket of Recharge and let it sit for a week and replanted it in the ground…5 days later I have growth coming from the Roots and the plant is progressing nicely now … I definitely relate this to Recharge that rejuvenated the roots to produce. I am definitely a Recharge Fan !!! Thanks Scotty !

I'm gonna try this out! My girl is having an annoying cal/mag issue which typically stems from a pH issue. I'm loving the fact that it has built-in microbes and mycorrhizal fungi in the solution. Of course the first mistake sounds exactly what happened too two of my plants this season (An autoflower I had growing and a pheno sativa), My dad was giving me the advice too "Water more, Water everyday!" and of course I listened because he's only 60 years old now and has been growing since a teen.. But then once both of these Plants started taking 4-6 days to dry up outdoors, and the leafs started yellowing and wilting, then I knew something about watering everyday was going wrong, and soon after both of them died :/ felt like it could have been a number of things, but since I was watering every single day just about or when the top soil barely got dry, Then I assumed it was from drowning the roots...

Coco has a super high water retention. About 80%. This means you can water less frequent compared to peat moss or regular soil. The best way is to lift up the pot, and if it feels light with, it needs water. If the pot still feels heavy. It doesnt need water. This takes experience to get better at it. I also used to feed every 3rd day when I got to the end of flower. But now im using dripper irrigation. If leaves are droopy and pot is heavy > overwatered. If leavers are hanging and pot is dry > needs water. I also put my finger in the soil, if top 6/7cm is dry. I also give nutes

Like old days you get nutrients lockout a few days in sunlights or make sure not to hot burn the leaves but the sunlights is best out of all light with exceptions of lights and control of photosynthesis of light cycles or best to imitates natural environments or specific plants requires or optimal growing to different strains or genetics for say.

I have 2 plants. A f1 hybrid in flower and a hulkberry in veg. I don’t measure anything just do everything by feeling. This is my first plant and It’s going great. The hybrid is covered with more than 20 buds and a level canopy. She is beautiful and the hulkberry is very bushy. I raised the light to try to get her to stretch. I have to prune a lot every day I also do low and high stress training. They seem very happy. I talk to them and sing to them. Play podcasts for them. This is my first plant ever and it should just get better from here.

I top water until it drains out the bottom of the pot. If the soil gets too dry it won't want to absorb water. I use cloth pots so when that happens it just runs out the sides. I'm trying to save 2 autos i started but got really busy and neglected the crap out of them. Hopefully, they survive. Cannibis is tougher than people think.

I am using Coco for the first time. In a 15 litre ( 4 quart) pot how often should I be watering in say 1. Middle of veg ( atm plants are drinking 2 litres(1/2 quart) every other day. 2. Middle of flower (atm plants drinking 3 litres every other day) and 4 litres ( 1 quart) towards end of flower. I've been watering every other day and I'm just wondering if I should be watering every 3rd day? Negative pressure in a tent is purely for hiding smell. For a more even air distribution throughout the plant canopy, you actually want to run an overpressure.

My grow room is in my bedroom closet on the shelf. This is my first grow and the Chicago winter is coming. I was able to rid my plant of fungus gnats using water mixed with peroxide and a little dish detergent. There was larvae in my soil but one shot of a nitrogen, phosphorus, mixed with peroxide took care of that. If this doesn't work out at least I will know what to do next time this spring 🌞😎🌱

I grow in 100% compost that I make myself, so most of these issues don't occur with me. Bugs and overwatering aside, although I've never had an issue with pests. This year, I grew outdoors - now that I know the law and understand that every veg plant is 100% legal - and my results are 1,000% better. I had one Laughing Buddha plant that was very compact (I got cuttings) and dense. In flower now, and I essentially have a plant the size of a beach ball, that is a solid nug. Plus, it flowered before my other Sativas and even the Indicas! She's a keeper for sure.

My tips for new a grower. Less is more when it comes to water and nutrients. You can always add more water or food. Getting rid of it, on the other hand, is harder. Don't be afraid to ask the questions. And have fun. Enjoy the ride. These plants are amazing.✌️💚

I noticed more mycorrhiza around my pole beans roots in with my sweet corn after using Recharge this year. The hard workers behind nitrogen fixation are the Rhizobium bacteria. The nodules on legume roots and some others house the bacteria that fix nitrogen. Spongy wood does also. Rhizobium need anaerobic conditions to fix nitrogen. Then mycorrihza move that nitrogen to the plants.

Scotty, you were talking about pH. Your stomach is super acidic, but that’s not how all things are broken down. Your stomach only breaks down proteins something like carbohydrate gets broken broken down in your saliva in your mouth. Something like fiber is that gut health it doesn’t get broken down until the microbes in your gut get to eat it. That’s what breaks it down and get you more nutrients. It’s all a system. You’re a human being not a stomach.

Preach. First year raising two plants (one turned out to be a male, RIP) and I am wicked OCD about getting as much right as I can the first time. Had I not, and dove into this blindly because I "just want to grow my own flower" I would have not have progressed as well as I have so far. Pest management has been my biggest issue. I understand plants roots need oxygen. Which is why too much anaerobic bacteria is bad. But anaerobic bacteria fix nitrogen while drawing down oxygen levels. I use spongy wood outdoors in bottom of my holes. So I don't get too much anaerobic activity. Outdoor my soil don't hold/get much water. The mycorrhiza tap the anaerobic bacteria to provide nitrogen for plants. Indoors I put my drain holes about a 3/4 inch above bottom of totes. To have some anaerobic activity. I add bananas into worm bed to up phosphorus and potassium in the worm leechate. Which they get watered with once a week.

Here's a tip... Spray your plants for Caterpillars.... I grow in California and not sure if it's the climate but once my plants begin to flower, Caterpillars become an issue. Neem oil works amazing... Mix Neem oil with some dish soap and spray... I add Compost tea to it... works amazing.

You sure it's caterpillars or is it thc worms it's a thing I had lil orange worm like ones on mine and my grandpa told me if the plant is potent enough they can form I thought he was crazy but he proved it and good advice but be careful to not use to much of those products cus they can harm your plant too I work at the dispensary here and they teach you the ins and outs of growing but I'm still open to learning

my Beginner tip would be- Learn with some Auto Flowers and or easy to grow genetics(feminized) such as anything with high %'s of Kush in it. Purple Punch is a really good example of a Resilient strain Purple Punch has a high resistance to pests and fungi and grows exceptionally well in cool, temperate climates.

No, doing that currently. I started them with that mix and my plants are a week or so out from being 3 months old in veg and they're thriving.

With experience You start to notice your plants when they get thirsty right before droopy! Like your dog looking at his dry bowl! I grow coco and love the wicking capabilities of coco! Crazy coconuts and cannabis make great partners! Ha ha funny just had a problem with my ph PH is a problem so many times!

The majority of house plants die because people over water them. People always ask how I keep my plants looking so nice, since I have around 30 per room, and they are always surprised when I tell them that most of the plants only require water once or twice a week. Letting the soil dry out completely is incredibly important.

I honestly think the thing that kills plants is if you are doing to much. Just let it grow give it some water and it will tell you what it needs

Pot weight for water retention is a great method until you put some gravel in your pot to aid in drainage then it's whole new learning curve 😅

One tip i would give is, use chicken shit pellets instead of expensive bottles of feed. It's cheaper and a good all-round fertilizer.
