Every scene where Scarecrow and Batman are face to face it ends with Joker essentially hogging the spotlight and Scarecrow gets pushed aside. I love Joker but they need to give other villains their time to shine.

I thought he was there to cure the joker. Like batman know he will eventually turn into the joker, so he planned his capture so he can be injected with the fear toxic to cure the jokerize batman. From what i've heard Paul dini's plot was to have Hush and Scarecrow as the main antagonists, and azrael was supposed to be allied with batman but i guess they made him into a side mission, but rocksteady didnt like this story so Paul dini left and now we have the train wreck of this story, and the batmobile was there just to be there.

@@bjornervig3795 yeah, I feel like the best route would have been making Red Hood a significant part of Arkham City, with an Under The Red Hood storyline, probably somewhat adapted to fit the Arkhamverse, being a big thing in the story. It could also lead to the cure situation, but with Jason involved, with Joker fearing that Jason's questioning of Batman's morals would result in him not getting the cure, so he would still end up inadvertently killing himself out of doubt. But yeah, Prometheus and Hush both would have been better options for The Arkham Knight if Jason Todd's part in the story was different, as both are actually characters that would be willing to destroy Gotham City and attempt to completely shatter Batman's psyche alongside Scarecrow, whereas that was way out of character for Jason Todd. He may use violent and murderous methods, but he has morals and heroic intentions. The Hush thing would also work especially well if they weren't planning to make Arkham Knight a finale, as they could have done something involving using Hush's identical appearance to Bruce Wayne as a way to pass off the reveal of Batman's identity as some kind of decoy situation. Of course, that would require somehow either convincingly putting Hush in Batman's place or maybe someone conveniently seeing Hush somewhere else at the time the unmasking was being broadcast, which would cause skepticism in some way or another. I'm sure they could have found a way to write it in a way that it would have made sense. They just kind of didn't. Which is a shame when it comes to Hush too, his inclusion in Arkham Knight was far too minimal

Actually, if you go to the Arkham wiki fandom for Jason Todd, it talks about what happened during the Arkham City Incident. Here's what is says in the following:Arkham City Incident"Jason watched Batman and Joker (though it was actually Clayface who posed as a healthy Joker.) He was then approached by the real (and sickly) Joker himself. After he struck a conversation with his old victim, Joker revealed his continued partnership with DeathStroke, instructed the assassin to aid Jason's quest for revenge, reinforced the young man's distorted perception of Batman abandoning him, and encouraged him to ensure that he became a more well-known figure in Gotham as the Arkham Knight. While Jason brutally beat Joker and made an attempt on his life in retribution for what he did to him years ago, he decided not to, the Joker informed him that he had high hopes for the young man's plans against Batman and Gotham."It pretty much explains why Joker looks a lot worse when you see him again, the moment he shot Talia in the back (literally). But it overall shows how stupid Jason's motive is in Arkham Knight. Even Barbara asked Jason why he was doing what he's doing, now that Joker's dead in one of the tapes you unlock from the amount of Riddler trophies you've collected. @@coryrobinson6035 after reading that, I do have a much better understanding of how Jason's part in Arkham Knight came to be. Even then, it still all doesn't really make sense. Jason Todd isn't what the Arkham series makes him out to be, not in the slightest. He may target Batman specifically, but he was willing to stand alongside Scarecrow despite his plan to unleash fear toxin on the entirety of Gotham City, he directly allied with a multitude of villains, and also, there is absolutely no way, no matter how much torture he went through, that Jason would spare The Joker's life if he had the chance to kill him. In Under The Red Hood, he had to be forcibly stopped by Batman. It literally makes no sense that he'd have mercy on The Joker and yet try to destroy both Batman and Gotham City itself. Hell, that wiki even says he's apathetic towards the people Batman protects, people that he sees as weak. I mean, I understand slight character adjustments to fit certain continuities, but that literally just isn't Jason Todd at all.

Kaleb Barber I agree. I feel like Rocksteady didn’t fully understand the Robin character. Just like how Snyder didn’t understand Batman for his movie. Like Tim and Barbara being a couple in this universe really annoyed the hell out of me. It was always her and Dick, her being with Tim is weird since that’s technically Dick’s little brother. I know some youtubers finds it cute, but that’s only cuz they haven’t read the comics and don’t know more of each character’s relationship with one another then the basics.

The sub plot with keeping her double live from her father felt so forced and out of no where. Not to mention predictable. She never referenced or hinted at keeping secrets from her father in the previous games, but is now all of sudden worried? That definitely would not be relevant later in the story at all

My idea for a rewrite was to have three main villains that each challenge Bruce in a specific way. Knight counters his combat and stealth advantage. He supplements any combat weakness with advanced tech that only upgrades as the game progresses while Bruce struggles to keep up because of another villain. Deathstroke style combat encounters. Not Jason. Hush takes his identity when he's active as Batman. The transition is seamless and barely registered by security tech. He limits Bruce's ability to act as himself during the day, forcing him to be creative. He cuts him off from all his resources and Bruce is forced to use more inventive solutions. Getting access to new tech requires sneaking into Wayne buildings, so we actually see the security that is constantly mentioned yet never shown in Knight. Scarecrow takes away his psychological advantage. He partially works against his own MO, by helping remove fear of Batman with the actions of the others, then supplanting it with new fear (the Knight allows him these indulgences to keep him in line). No more bullshit cutscenes. Arkham Knight twist could have more impact if it's someone who was here the whole time but was never a suspect. Irony, as who would expect Bruce Wayne to secretly be a crazy man in a batsuit who beats people up for fun?

You know what would have been good as the villain of the Knight game, if we want to go with the series being about Batman and the Joker's relationship, how about... We keep the storyline of Batman being infected and slowly turning into the Joker, despite how little sense that makes, except we use that to put HIM in the villain position and thus for the final game we play as the Batfamily fighting to cure Bruce as he turns the city upside down. Storywise, this ties in with the idea of Batman and joker's relationship by having an almost destined idea of there always having to be a Joker for Batman to fight, it lets us explore the Batfamily more outside of cameos as Batman's legacy (they wanted this to game to feel like Batman's final night, so having so little interaction with his actual legacy felt so off to me) and just the general opportunity for this fucked up scenario where you have to take down the guy you've been playing this entire trilogy. From a gameplay perspective it opens a lot of creative avenues as Bats could really fuck with you as you're now basically the student fighting the master with a lot of hype surrounding his boss fight which could be Mr Freeze on steroids and far more deadly. A surreal and horror themed fight of playing cat and mouse with the big B-man himself. You'd get segments where you play as Bruce in his mind fighting the infection as Joker commentates and exploring different impactful moments of Joker and Batman's history outside of what we've already been shown.

@@adekaiwamisou Way I'd do it is, like the Freeze fight, you can only use each method once. Throughout the fight, you'll be switching between bat family members to collectively back each other up whenever Bats sets his sights on you, you want to avoid letting them get too far from each other but that sort of play makes him less likely to slip up, scouting out and disabling traps set by Bats to catch you out and trying to trick him into revealing himself through bait and/or exploiting the mechanics. It would be a risk reward scenario where taking away his advantages takes away yours as well, maybe one method can be to slowly block off parts of the city to force him into a smaller surface area, but this also makes him more dangerous since it gives him easier access to you. It's a fight about out manuvering the Batman and, as the games have taught you by this point, a true test of how you can jump into different playstyles and adapt to keep the Dark Knight off his rhythm (Batman is known to be at his most vulnerable when you don't give him time to focus or think)/ Agressive tactics push him to react, but put you at risk while a more defensive style makes him more secretive and methodical and quick run-and-gun style makes him more likely to try and trip you up with traps. It's a battle of wits and controling the enviorment.

What triggered me is technically Batman is a little out of character in this game. Batman is saying through out the entire game that he doesn't need help not even from Nightwing and Robin. Yes it is Batman not to be a team player but If anyone reads detective comics, they know that even Batman knows when needs his Bat family on his side when it comes to the entire city of Gotham under danger.

What I like the most about this KZbinr in particular is his ideas. They are genuinely thought and out and sound interesting to the point I much prefer his ideas than that of the originals by a mile. He also keeps many of the main themes of the original concept and structure to the stories he’s alternating which I always like because it more challenging to write ideas instead of just wiping out everything.

You know, regarding Jason, I think the "he was brainwashed into hating Batman instead of being killed" is an interesting alternate take and it could be great, but they handled so bad. He's not over it. He's clearly still troubled It was more nuanced than that. In the 'bossfight' with Jason, you literally do not hit him at all.That Batman could, but chose not to violently engage him is what gets through to Jason. I guess the good inside him overcame the year of brainwashing/torture when he finally was proven wrong about Batman "not saving the innocent and just punishing the guilty".

I wish that the Arkham Knight was Damian Wayne, it wouldve made much more sense as he would have an actual background. Wanting revenge against batman for letting his mother (Talia al Ghul) being killed by the Joker in Arkham City. In Arkham City, Talia referenced at least twice from memory that they had intercourse and when it was referenced, Talia made it sound like it was a very long time ago, which wouldve fit in perfect with Arkham Knight as Damian would be (at least) near adulthood, it would also give Damians character a twist as he was the most recent Robin (that I can think of). It also wouldve set up very nicely for the next Arkham game which is pretty much confirmed. In Arkham Knight Batman convinces Damian to let go of his anger, then he activates Nightfall protocol, and then the next game we could play as Damian. Damian is by far my favorite character from Batmans series so dont mind this long ass comment xD

Tree Licker Honestly halfway through the game I legitimately thought it was going to be Damian, either naturally aged or force-grown or whatever. The Knight constantly references things he shouldn’t know anything about. How would Jason even know about Talia? They never cover it. The developers said that the Knight was a brand new character that Batman has never met in this continuity. They could’ve easily used Damian, considering there are only three Robin’s at the time, and clearly Bruce shows no knowledge of Damian’s existence. If they had kept Jason in the game as the Red Hood and had him work with the rest of the Batfamily, that would’ve helped up the mystery, since we would now be able to confirm that the Knight clearly isn’t Jason. I really think that Paul Dini would’ve been able to tie the story together in a much better way.

The ending is logistically stupid. Batman, the escape artist, doesn't keep ALL of his gear in his utility belt. He keeps lockpicks and stuff around his suit. He should've been able to escape.

Even if Batman had no lock picks or anything else on his suit, he still wouldn't be incapable of breaking out of a gurney, table, or whatever its called. And the worst thing is, just before he's brought back to Arkham. We see the van he was being carried in opens, and Scarecrow walks over to it, then we see a scene of him being strapped to the gurney. That means that he literally gave Scarecrow the opportunity to strap him there.

I think what the main problem came down to, was they have painted themselves into a corner killing Joker at the end of City _and_ having to still make one more sequel. From a story perspective, no one else had been naturally built up in Arkham City to fill that Lead Antagonist role. Kind of like Palapatine being resurrected in Star Wars, after a different writer killed off his contemporary replacement in the last film. Solid reinvention ideas, as usual.

Honestly, I was hoping the Knight would have been an AI copy of Hugo Strange, created sometime before the events of Arkham City. There are interview tapes in AC were the Riddler implies that Hugo has his own Batman suit that he keeps hidden away. Strange could have known that Ra's was going to betray him, so installed a copy of himself into that suit to carry out a different plan to defeat Batman and take his place, as Strange has tried to do multiple times in the comics. It would give us the chance to actually fight Hugo instead of being denied like in City, and finally give us a Batman-v-Batman boss fight. His team up with Scarecrow could have been a little bit of foreshadowing towards this: in the comics, Strange had created something similar to Scarecrow's Fear Toxin called Fear Dust long before Crane did.

I think the biggest detriment to the game’s story was getting rid of Dini. Asylum’s story is pretty much prefect(aside from that last boss fight) and aside from a few gripes with City’s story, I really enjoyed it. So im just really left scratching my head as to why they wouldn’t have him write the final game in the trilogy.

@Emerald Hawk On the contrary, I think Arkham City was better than Arkham Knight. Instead Arkham Knight feels like they have no idea what they're doing. Instead, they mesh Paul Dini's idea and add in Joker just to play it safe, but having no significance role in the main story aside from being comic relief for Batman. And of course the twist is that AK is Jason. I think getting rid of Paul Dini while he has the vision and story was a mistake.

However, I think Origin's story suffer due to the future canon already established by Rocksteady's games, leaving litte room to grow. While AK has litte build up from the previous games (Jason only mentioned once, he come outta nowhere, and very predictable mystery who is AK). Meanwhile AC was a very obvious build up from previous story, not to mention already hinted at Arkham Asylum. I say it's a clear development from the previous story, and superior compared to it's succesors games.

I was so mad about the Arkham Knight reveal. When I heard he was a new character written by Geoff Johns I was beyond excited because I love Johns's work. So throughout the game I was trying to figure out who he was and how he tied into the Arkham mythology. Because he was suppose to be a new character it never crossed my mind on him being Jason Todd. And then when he took the helmet of that horror set in and I was like "oh god it's Jason isn't it." I was so mad I put the controller down and walked away for 10 minutes. I was so pissed. I felt so cheated.

I was in denial as to the identity of the Arkham Knight for basically the whole game. I figured that, while Jason Todd would tie into the story somehow in a clever way, it was too obvious to be the actual twist that they were going to go for, and that the actual Knight's identity was going to be something we didn't see coming due to Jason being a red herring.

The fact that these two were the main antagonists was weak. What got to me the most frustrating to me at least is with the plot of jokers blood chaging the victims into another joker instead of killing them like joker did as it was joker died which was convluted and of left field. GodzillaMendoza did a video video on the store of the Joker and his blood being instantly changed out of nowhere.

That would have been good, but too deep for the idiots who made this game. AK being Damian Wayne would be ideal, with his mentor being DeathStroke/Slade. Hence all the technical gear. Blaming Batman for his mother's death would have been far more believable. And the whole AK being Jason Todd could have been deliberate misdirect by AK himself. Also, AK should have a sword as well as guns. A fight between Batman vs AK and DeathStroke would have been epic.

Arkham Knight, similarly to Injustice 1, tries to rework stories that, in my opinion, were conveyed better in their DCAU counterparts. AK takes inspiration from Jason of under the red hood (as referenced to by the user DAHAKA, GUARDIAN OF THE TIMELINE), while Injustice takes its inspiration for regime superman from Lord Superman in JL's A better world. With that said, something was missing with AK and I1. That being the different situation for our characters of origin (as you've discussed here and in your Injustice videos). AK Jason tries to convey the emotional struggles of UTRH Jason, just as Regime Superman tries to convey the internal philosophical change that Lord Superman had. Both games try to take the original portrayals of Jason and Superman with slight changes in backstory, without looking into the different backgrounds that each character and media setting offers us. Both Mediums of origin may serve as a reference point but cannot function without their specific context, as we can see in the writing of their inspired portrayals.

I would have had the Knight be Damian Wayne. He has the League of assassin's (the soldier variety) while not knowing if Ras Al Ghul was alive. His vendetta would be over his mother's death, also why he would know so much about Bruce/Batman and the bat family. He would have lost everything, wanting to take everything from Bruce for letting his family die doing a reverse on what is usually Batman's thing compounding his guilt from Arkham City. They could even give the dlc Ras mission a little moment where he warns Batman about what is to come.

If I could add one more twist to the plot, I’d love to see Harley start as a key player in the Arkham Knight’s group of villains. And towards the end when the Knight has Batman dead to rights, some event finally drives Harley to the realization that she should be protecting Batman because he is the world’s last connection to her late lover. It’s crazy to me that both Batman and Harley both seem to be spiraling because of Joker’s absence, and there’s no reference to that in the game. Making her an ally of Batman late in the game could be the thing that turns the tide in Batman’s favor

I actually thought they had a chance to create an entire new villain in the Arkham Knight. Do you remember Quincy Sharp? The guy behind Arkham City, and was the "Spirit of Arkham" in Arkham Asylum. I always thought he might have a son, who maybe suffers the same delusions as his father and takes on the mantle of 'Arkham Knight' as a successor to his father's plans. You would have to change a lot of the story but I think it would come full circle from the first game.

Love the idea of Hush ruining Bruce's reputation by "unmasking" on TV. Since so many CEO's in DC have become super-villains (Lex Luthor, Simon Stagg, and Veronica Cale) it shouldn't surprise that many. Also Barbara becoming a Joker makes me recall Duela Dent from the Ame-Comi comics. Instead Joker's blood, I would make it the product of Hugo Strange's Protocol 11 as the ultimate revenge on Batman (Strange has super-science to do it). But I'd change so much that maybe I should make an essay of my own to list them.

I'm replaying the game Right now with all of the DLC/ additional playable characters and I find myself coming to one conclusion. This game shouldve downplayed the Batmobile,and pushed more of The BATFAMILY. Every one can have their own unique vehicle to traverse in but Batmans be the most unique one. Batman is calling in all his allies for his fight to save Gotham. Make ROBIN and NIGHTWING PLAYABLE IN THE OPEN WORLD around 10/20% into the game. Around 50% the surprise character reveal would be BATGIRL,she recovered from her injuries and resumed crime Fighting in order to help The BATFAMILY. 55/60% into the game you can introduce AZARAEL,who must prove himself by taking down Deathstroke alongside the BATMAN. You can still have the end choice of him becoming and ALLY or him being locked in Prison. 65% Catwoman and Harley Quinn become playable as ALLIES OF BATMAN or just their own individual party with it's own goals and Storyline that coincides. The Reveal of Arkham Knight could be introduced by Batgirl fighting him One on One and she ends up finding his identity out,but chooses to keep it a secret due to the hope that he can redeem himself. Honestly,Jason Todd and Barabra Gordon makes more sense than Tim Drake/Barbara. Around 85/95% RED HOOD becomes playable after he redeems himself and rejoins The BATFAMILY. I just think this shouldve pushed the TEAM of Heroes that Batman has United,giving you a chance To play as your favorite like mine (Red Hood) in Gotham City.

My ideal story: Starts with a prologue of Batman vs Bane and he’s brutally taken down while a mysterious brutal vigilante, Arkham Knight, murders Bane. While in the present: Scarecrow and Hush have a team up to break Batman after the two learn his identity. They hire Deathstroke as an enforcer with his new militia to take over Gotham. Hush and Scarecrow have the villains Riddler, Two-Face, Riddler, Poison Ivy, Harley, Firefly, Killer Moth, and a brainwashed Killer Croc. And I like the Bat Family Story. Characters like Nightwing, Oracle, Robin, Catwoman, Spoiler, and Azreal. Knight is also Jason Todd, but feels like Bruce’s methods are ineffective.

For me the awnser to this game is simple: arkham knight is Morgan Ducard... and jason todd is his foe. In the comic books, Morgan Ducard is the son of henry dycard (the guy who teached all the bruce's detective skills) , he fits this role perfect because he is not an obvious character as jason. And he is willing to hurt inocent people to prove that batman moral code have flaws... Jason could discover this and work with batman in a last mission together. instead of all that bullshit with scarecrow biological attack i would prefer a vigilante army against the criminals creating a new war, and for god sake bring Arkham Origins bane back and deathstroke to be their main treat, as scarecrow as secondary villain. they can have this weird joker plotline but as a PTSD trauma in a similar way that is in the game, maybe the ending with bane using scarecrow toxin to break finally the dark knight mentally.

Fun Fact: When i first saw the Arkham Knight, I was giving the game major props for making it seemingly so obvious it was Jason Todd, thinking it was a very overtly in your face red herring to hide who the actual culprit really was. I figured it was supposed to draw all your attention to such a amazingly obvious twist and when the actual culprit was revealed, you can replay the game, ignoring the "stageshow" of all the giant fake hints and see the actual clues throughout the game that would lead to the real mastermind. For the thing about Bruce and Selina getting together and being happy that's basically what the Silver age stuff did in the comics or any earth based off of that old version of Earth 2 because Huntress was the daughter of Batman and Catwoman in those versions. But for the most part in universes that the general audience is are more aware of that almost never gets to be the case except for Dark Knight Rises but I also agree that was last minute and shouldn't count.
