Just discovered your channel, really digging it 🤘🏻 Found it from searching for Katatonia reactions and yours did not disappoint 🤩 This band is so incredible it’s almost impossible to quantify, and like you, I listen to (and love) so much of everything. Keep up the great work, and keep listening to Katatonia! 🤙🏻🎸

Ooooo, are we about to go down the Katatonia rabbit-hole?! I am so here for it. Ez automatic likes. You should check out "Unfurl" next. Very vibey, but in that dark Katatonia way. Nice stuff man! Glad you dig it! And yeah, amazing album. You should definitely do a full listen in your free time. Cool sidenote: Mikael Akerfeldt used to do vocals for Katatonia back in the day, before he left to do Opeth. Him and Jonas are best buds. Pretty cool they both have insanely dope bands now.

katatonia are amazing at creating a mood or vibe. they know exactly what a song needs and where. july from the great cold distance is a banger for sure.

Got some Porcupine Tree vibes from them in this one. I think I dug this one a lot more than the other one you listened to from Katatonia. I may have to really dig into them finally.

Steven Wilson certainly evangelized a whole bunch of guys in Swedish metal. In the Opeth albums he produced (Blackwater, Deliverance, Damnation) you can crystal clear hear his influence. I think it rubbed off on Katatonia too

watch the entire SANCTITUDE show, it is so amazing, all Katatonia albums are great, the firsts was a different style but if you like the more extreme music, it maybe works too, it's an amazing band i love them so much, i hope more people can know them, it's simply wonderfull art, their music is full of nuances, details and changes that catch you, touch the nerve, a sound and songs sensitive and deep, and heavy, well, I love them, so I am happy that there are more people joining to listen to them♥

Katatonia never disappoints. If I’m in the moods for drums, they are my first choice.

This song always spoke strongly to me. I have pretty severe ADHD, and I find so much of my struggles earlier in life (before diagnosis) in this song. Ambitions, never being able to reach them, to realize myself. As the lyrics go... idle hands with wounds and cracks / still ineffective / indecision / aspiration is never within reach... absolutely.

Love the band, saw them in concert a couple years ago. Very dark and atmospheric. Definitely recommend them

Yeah, KATATONIA is very under rated. And yet, they keep pushing forward with one great album after another. If I didn't have TOOL, this would be my favorite band.

Something about Jonas's voice touches me deeply. I discovered Katatonia after listening to Jonas sing on the song The Nearing Grave by Long Distance Calling. I immediately starting looking for him. You can also hear him on many of Ayreon's excellent work.
@stefanblixt5193 жыл бұрын
Interesting that you mentioned Opeth here, as the band members are old friends and started their journeys simultaneously more or less. Mikael even sang on a couple of Katatonia’s earlier albums (but not on the first, which is Dance of December Souls).

Rogue band... a breed apart. Great musicians. Smart arrangements and super creative. They've got at least 3 or 4 album's I personally think are masterpieces.

Try listening to Takeover. A track from The Fall of Hearts, the best album of their modern era in my opinion. Another amazing song from Dead End Kings is The One You Are Looking For Is Not Here. Some others: Teargas Dipossession Hypnone Deadhouse Shifts Brave Day and then the Shade Omerta Heart Set to Divide Sanction (some more Opeth vibe here) Serac For My Demons Lacquer Rein Idle Blood

Cool song & album. I really like Daniel Liljekvist's drumming on this album. A few years later Daniel joined Sweden's In Mourning for their Afterglow album. In Mourning is a band that you should definitely check out.

Please please do a live stream of the album that would be amazing to see what you think of the rest of the album!!! Try listening to Brave by Katatonia off the Brave Murder Day because Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth does vocals on that album! If you do try that track please do a video of it!!! Katatonia are just an incredible band!!! Cheers!!! Pete.

Oh thank God, love your content but you rarely hit acts I'm interested in 😆.. following so many channels I was punishing myself trying to consume it all lol Also katatonia and opeth were born in the same studio 😙
@TheAdventuresofTNT3 жыл бұрын
That is too fuckn cool. Oh and leave me some request because if you like bands like this and opeth, you obviously have good taste.
@paravarium3 жыл бұрын
@@TheAdventuresofTNT Really appreciate you taking the time to hear out people. This is taking a couple cause I'm sifting though everything you've done in hopes to not repeat :] My taste is pretty eclectic, but I get most excited for prog rock and metal that is savvy but not too try hard, hell maybe throw in a little pop :) Rush are absolutely iconic in the dna of my taste. As Dream Theater, and many other big dogs, but you know them! Going through your history some of my gem favs you've got in, porcupine tree, rivers of nihil, band maid invoke much f the spirit of rush and that's amazing tbh. Alright, now for the nightmare, song suggestions lmao, always where hearts get warmed and broken! Judging by your history, you need TesseracT, not just saying that cause I'm wearing their merch in my profile pic, i usually suggest the next band first, because they're less known and bigger bands tend to take care of themselves, but your love of Deftones, Linkin Park, Jinjer, and exposure to Meshuggah and Periphery make TesseracT a MUST.You get all the thick groove and palm muted syncopation, along with clean soaring atmosphere and amazing vocals. I think the track Hexes might really be a jam for ya, but they don't stop there! Caligulas Horse is the baby I shove down everyone's throat lmao. Just amazing music and really emotional content. The chorus in Oceanrise is to die for. Once upon a time I threw a request for Sleep Token out there, I thought you'd really appreciate the blend in genre fusion they have. Deftones meets soul, gospel and electric pop? Gotta hear the song Higher at some point. So those are my nuggets I really really want to see your take on based on your history.. As far as a sound closer to Katatonia I'd really pay close attention to requests for Soen. Opeth's old drummer is the main brain behind it, you can hear a lot of that sound, the cold dark texture and layering. Maybe the band Riverside could scratch the itch too. I know you have tons of requests to sift through and I'm not naieve abot the process, but that's my input for this neck of the woods. Best to you, might have to patreon up if I see a little something :D
