I'm Irish and I'm embarrassed by how ignorant and confrontational the guards were for no reason. Not surprised though. One of the most incompetent police forces in Europe. There has been a huge amount of car thefts in Ireland the last 2 years. Nothing has been done about it. Get your call stolen and you don't even get a follow up call from the guards. Streets of Dublin are not safe either. Multiple assaults on talbot street despite one of the biggest garda stations in the country being a kilometre away. Guards don't want to do anything

@ We were on a night out in West London and i got accidentally pushed through the glass, by some lads messing about, it wasn’t intentional. The copper thought i’d been fighting and said tough, that’ll teach you to behave, i was only saved by an off duty nurse who happened to be on a night out as well, she tied a tourniquet to my wrist with shirts and towels and her friend drove us to the hospital, she basically saved my life, she stayed with me until i was stitched up and she said i was probably about 3 minutes from dying ! Right place right time for me i suppose. Bless her ! We kept in contact for a few years after and even now, i often think of her and what she’s up to. I’ve got two kids and three grandkids today, so not only did she save my life, she had a hand in the creation of another five, an amazing girl !! 😊

Billy,👍 that Garda was out order, telling you not to film children,asking did you get the parents permission. His comments, could incite,someone to attack you, believing what was said to be true. Like in all, walks of life there are bad apples. The majority of, the Gardai I found to be sound. As for Garda visibility on the streets, that's another question. O' Connell Street, and environs from, past experiences there wasn’t a Garda in sight. 30 years ago there was, always a Garda presence outside the GPO, and noticeable on foot patrol. To be truthful, when abroad I feel safer walking around at night, than I would in Dublin.
