Hello! I just want to say that I was just admitted to the university of chicago! You were a huge HUGE influence on me when choosing my ED school: when I saw you talking so passionately and eloquently, I knew that I wanted to meet people and make friends like you. That's when I knew that Uchi is my dream school ;) Thank you SO much for your influence!

Your channel is excellent. My goal is to go to uchicago for their MBA program, and your channel does a really good job of highlighting the experience that I would expect the uchicago. P.S. I'm from Chicago

Awesome, I'm so glad I could help! I'm actually going to be applying back to UChicago sometime the next few years for their MBA program haha - definitely a great option :) Good luck to you!!

Thank you so much for this! I'm moving to chicago from a rural area so I know it's gonna be a bit of a culture shock but I'm excited. I'm also a little worried about the fact that I loaded myself with a hard first quarter (lab classes/honors classes that I placed into). Is a good way to balance this just limiting my RSOs first year or should I be prepared to drop down from honors classes?
@TheAlmostAstrophysicist3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I think that students always get overloaded their first year at the Fall RSO fair lol, I remember signing up for like, 15 email lists and only ended up liking 1-2 of them. There's definitely a way to balance it - when it comes to classes, I think after a week and a half, you'll know if the honors classes are doable. For the RSO side, I'd say RSO's are only a lot of commitment if you go to too many - I'd recommend going to a few meetings and picking 1-2 that really resonate with you that you're passionate about and can delve deep into. Those are usually the ones you'd end up with a leadership role in too down the line in undergrad, especially if you're invested and passionate in it! There's no point being a part of 5-7 RSO's but not making an impact, right?

Also, what’s the social scene like at UChicago?
@TheAlmostAstrophysicist3 жыл бұрын
I'd honestly say the quirky culture is like, disappearing each year (sad to say it lol) but every time I saw a new class at UChicago - they're just so sociable and less weird in like the regular uchicago weird way. Which is hard to explain haha but I think the social scene's actually good. You have the ability to be in greek life and I took all my friends to formals every quarter and it was so fun! But I'd also spend like a LOT/the majority of my time at libraries studying/learning because that's just who I am and what I like haha so you truly have the choice to carve your own path. I know lots of people who were way more social than me, and people who were just like me!

I love you hair!! Also, do you mind sharing what other colleges you were accepted to after high school and why you choose UChicago? I’m currently debating between UChicago and a few other schools for class of 2025.
@TheAlmostAstrophysicist3 жыл бұрын
Aw thanks! And yup - Berkeley, UCLA, GTech. For me, it was a no-brainer given how much financial aid uchicago offered and even without it, it would've been uchicago :) A thing to consider is also class sizes, I personally didn't think I'd like a larger freshman class like at the UCs! Good luck to you and definitely let me know where you end up!
@alexciss3 жыл бұрын
@@TheAlmostAstrophysicist Yeah UChicago offered me more aid than any of the other schools I’ve gotten into! And you make a great point about class sizes, I don’t want classes with like 700+ students. I’ll definitely let you know where I decide to go!

Thank you!! I'm an incoming freshman and I was wondering if you could answer a question! I was planning to take 3classes for the first quarter than take 4 after that (by adding 2 core classes for winter and spring). Would it be okay to do that??
@TheAlmostAstrophysicist3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Of course! The requirement to graduate is a minimum of 42 courses, I think given that, you can take up to 5 quarters of 3 classes (maybe more if you take summer classes)!

Do you think that if I went to UChicago and took the 3 easiest core courses each quarter of my freshmen year, I could have all A’s? Or is that unattainable given the rigorous nature of UChicago?
@TheAlmostAstrophysicist3 жыл бұрын
Oh I have so many friends with 3.9s and 4.0s!! You'll be totally fine - I'd say the only reason I mention GPA is because I did physics lol there are just some majors where expecting an A in every class is just much harder than normal - but even then, I have several physics friends who had a 3.7+ at uchicago!

Hey, I am an incoming freshman at UChic and I'm unable to find these peer reviews.. I do have access to my uchic email but i dont know where the peer reviews are.. could you please help me sort it out?
@TheAlmostAstrophysicist3 жыл бұрын
Hey! They should be on courses.uchicago.edu on individual class pages - unsure if that's working right now since professors have not been assigned for Fall 2021 (they usually finalize all that the week or two before orientation) but wherever you rank classes during orientation week for your first quarter, you'll find them. :)
