RESTOCKING MY VINTAGE BOOTHS & COMBING A HIGH-STYLE VINTAGE MALL
This week is a 'two-fer' of sorts, where I show you how and with what I've packed my antique mall spaces, then take you to discover the tremendous vintage mall next door!
We meet as I'm finishing my revamp of my booth at Andrea and Friends Antique Mall, where I cram a lot of vintage boudoir, Victoriana, Native American goods and lovely home accessories into a small space packed with treasures! After a quick review of the fresh stock (including prices), it's off to the main antique district in town to discover a place we've not been before, a wonderful mall called Lion's Paw Antiques and Art.
Lion's Paw is a special place, where designer vintage--handbags, jewelry, MCM furniture and the like--pair nicely with original art, true antiques, art glass and ceramics...if it's high-quality and high style, it's likely to have a place here. We enjoy huge driftwood chairs, Paul McCobb and Paul Frankl furniture, Blenko and Murano glass and dramatic prints as we enter the store. Showcases gleaming with costume, turquoise and fine jewelry, pocket watches and silver delight the eye and pull us further into this surprisingly large and complete collection of vintage objects.
Our interior designer friend at the counter shows us 1920s dance card holders and a strong engraving before we venture to the back, where Italian 1980s furniture and 1880s tin litho advertising share space. A tall oak card file, lucite mirrored dressing table, deco slot machines and local ephemera all grab our attention...the surprises and special things just keep coming! Most surprising perhaps are cases filled with designer purses and sunglasses at a fraction of their original boutique prices.
We wrap up with a quick peek next door at the other vintage space I've been stuffing full of goodies, where we show (and price) everything from Treasure Craft drummers and Pilgrim Glass ewers to Heywood Wakefield cabinets and tambour chests. It's a whirlwind tour, with lots to see and enjoy together!
Here's more of what we discover as we comb these shops for great antiques and vintage:
Floridiana, Miriam Haskell earrings, Victorian cherub tray, Lladro bunny, Franklin Mint eggs, Victorian marble top tables, 1980s hanging lamp, 1980s lotus lamp, Florida cameo glass bowl, police academy sign, Danish modern end tables, Skyscraper rattan end tables, Planner Group table, dressing tables, Heisey New Era candlesticks, Frankoma Plainsman pottery, Mary Gregory tea stand, child's formica table, panther TV lamp, Fenton hanky vase, musical instruments, sterling fraternal dance card holders, DeLaval cream separator ad, cherub/harp lamps, sports memorabilia, Red Wing vases, Lane Brutalist furniture, ephemera, Jaru elephants, Fenton cranberry pitchers, etc.

I remember having a lamp in the late 70’s that was sort of lotus-shaped, brown glass of course, and you would just touch the lamp to make it brighter or dimmer or turn off. A touch lamp I think is all we called it.

Hey George! I didn't make it to the premier...contractor here working on the house. Those marble-topped Victorian tables would've most likely came home with me. There are a couple here, now, and those would make some nice ones to possibly replace some others. Loved the painted Russian samovar! That settee, to the left of the "Planner Group" table interested me. I really like that style furniture. Those Meissen urns are fantastic! That spool case is really nice! I like the old wood spools with tread still on them, and use some, along with a complete set of the Wade Nursery Rhyme whimsies, in an old printers' drawer to add colour to the display. Loved that fireplace screen, and the French clock! That cameo art glass vase is super nice! You have a fantastic booth!!! That Meissen box is one fabulous piece!!! I'd love to have that!!! Great tour of those shops, and your booth!!! Thanks!!!

George, always so much great stuff and more education. I will send you an email with photos of things I think I might want you to consign. I am south now and won’t be home in Michigan until late March.. or early April.. and I definitely don’t want to waste your time. I just wish that I had hanged on to much of my parents’ things that I got rid of because they were ‘junk’, etc. Right now my husband is using a much bastardized 50s dresser in the garage and with what we have done, it is not worth anything now. So expect some photos and if you aren’t interested, they will be my kids problem! I like your hat by the way.....you are just so much fun in a quiet and unassuming way.
