I carry an M11a1 everyday. I've currently put over 10,000 rounds through it without a single issue and it just keeps getting smoother and smoother.

Thanks for the video. I've had my M11-A1 for over a year now with about 600 worry free rounds through it. I love the balance, operation, and short reset trigger! I only use 124 gr JHP/FMJ, or higher grain, and its a tack driver out to 30ft. However, I do clean and lubricate it after each range visit.

Own the same pistol. Just picked up a p226 SAO Legion last week. Took it to the range yesterday and it is the best pistol i have ever fired. I have also been watching your videos for years and I can say, some of your videos (mostly the sig reviews) have helped in my buying decisions. Keep doing your thing man.

My W German P-228 that I purchased in 1994 is by far my favorite handgun in my collection. I never experienced a failure of any kind. Not only is it reliable, but very accurate. I can't speak to the newer Sigs, but the older ones ooze quality. It's mainly a safe queen, but I do shoot it occasionally. I shoot at double action, so if you like to shoot it, let me know and I'll bring it in.

I bought a new M11-A1 in Army green. As soon as I got it I went to the range. The 4th round failed to eject after firing. Long story short it was sent back to Sig and the ejector was replaced at no cost and up until now no problems. I own a Glock 17 gen 4, Sig P320 compact, Walther PPS M2 (for carry) and the M11-A1. I love both of my Sigs and look forward to a 226 someday. Thanks for the video, your honesty is much appreciated.

The M11A1 was never issued to any military (US). You may be referring to the M11. There are several changes to the M11A1 over the M11 however it was never adopted as a replacement for the M11.

I have one of the older 228s and only replaced the spring. I clean it about every other trip to the range and average about 150 rounds a trip. I also shoot all kinds of range trash. I'd say over the last 8 years I've had about 10 F2F in some 5000 rounds fired. Love it.
@ditto1958

Pete, I'm curious. You seem to give up on quite a few low round count handguns because they're not 100% reliable for you. I'm wondering, with this Sig you talk about intentionally not cleaning it for hundreds of rounds. What is your rationale behind that? Seems to me that if you want a reliable gun, the best chance you have to make that a reality is to clean and lube it when you first get it, and then to clean and lube it after each trip to the range. It's right there in the manual of every new gun you buy. Will a Glock, or an AK, or a Ruger 10/22 run reliably for hundreds, even thousands of rounds without being cleaned or lubricated? Chances are they will. Or, maybe not. But regardless, why do that? Why treat a firearm you've paid several hundred or even a thousand dollars for like crap? Why intentionally ignore the manufacturer's instructions on care and maintenance of your gun?

+ditto1958 Same here. I've been watching a YT'er named Patrick E. Kelley who does reviews where he takes a new gun from the box to a competitive match. He reviewed the Sig P320 and had a bunch of FTE with the gun during the multiple stages of the competition. He did a followup on the P320 and inspected/cleaned/lubed the gun and stated that he found production material inside the gun that he removed. (Slivers of metal or plastic or something) Went on to say that the gun is running flawlessly now and he is considering making it one of his competition guns for 2016. My G36 had issues in the first couple of hundred rounds but it has been stellar since. Recently my G30sf jammed with the slide all the way open and no round/casing in the chamber, it had ejected perfectly... I assume. Most guns need to be checked out and ran before they are squared away for the long haul and I clean/lube mine (sparingly with the lube) after each session, some ammo is dirtier than others. Now, my Sigs and CZs have been perfect since the get-go so I've been lucky there.

I'm a p228 owner for 2 and half years now. 750 rds thru her with no problems. even fired and cycled a low powder charged rd. Love the cocking serations and the fact the internals are coated. Sig sent me a free soft case with an extra mag. with promotion. Mecgar makes an 18 rounder for her too. definitely not a gun I'm selling.

@thearmorychannel I'm so happy to see you got another m11a1! The first video you ever made about it(before you even took it to the range) is what sold me on my first sig. However, After taking it to the range twice, the extractor started to fail and I was getting fte(double feed) every damn round. So I sent it back to sig, while waiting for it to return I saw in one of your videos that you were having similar problems and sold it or you planned on getting rid of it. Which made me regret buying this sig even more. Anyways, I got it back with a note saying the extractor spring tension was off. Ever since then, I've had one double feed out of maybe 700 rounds and I trust it enough to carry it but it feels like I'm dating an ex who previously cheated on me. Seeing you buy the m11a1 again was refreshing. Thanks for the video! I've been thinking about the g43 for a while now, I hope you have a review in here somewhere.

I have both a P228 and and an M11A1 and the reason the P228 (P225 would be the same) extractor is rock solid is because it’s a one-piece extractor made of spring steel much like a 1911. The M11A1 extractor is external and is just a solid steel claw that’s pinned to the slide and the tension comes from the coil spring captured behind it. So in regards to Sig’s “That’s normal...” comment, it is. I have several thousands of rounds through my M11A1 with zero extraction issues.

Watch a Sig detail strip video and prepare for a damn headache if anyone is intent on trying it. That's the reason NSW dumped it, that and the corrosion resistance sucks, even with Sig's "special" coating.

I picked up a M11-A1 not that long ago, in one range trip it ate up roughly 800 rounds of various ammo, by various brands (TulAmmo 50 rnds, Winchester White Box 600 rnds, Fedral Aluminium 250, 25 rnds Federal 124 grn JHP) (okay more than 800, lol) only had two hickups both of with where magazine related (twice the round faild to lock back on last round fired, it was the mag I kept loaded), outside of that ran like a champ...still functions wonderfully and I have yet to do a complete breakdown (complete frame and slide disassembly), and clean it. I hope you get a hold of one that pans out for you because they are sweet.

I read about an issue like that and it happened a lot to him. The fix is a new extractor spring. It's a rare occurrence but Sig recommends a new spring and the fix is done. It's about 5.00 and takes 10 minutes to fix and I will agree that it should be right from the factory. I have an M11 A-1 with around 5,000 rounds as it is my EDC and I train with it. I will never get rid of that gun... EVER..

I've had the same issue you spoke of with my M11-A1. Every couple hundred rounds and it leaves an empty case in the chamber. I've called Sig Sauer and the first guy said "Sigs don't fail"... Not kidding. Second guy had me send it in and they paid for shipping. Got it back with a note from their gunsmith and it said something along the lines of "put a few mags through gun and had no issues".... I explained how often it happens before sending it in and they didn't seem to understand. Got it back and it still does it usually around every 200 rounds or so. I've been shooting Speer 115gn FMJ's that I load with 4.9gns of HP-38 for practice and haven't had a jam in over 400 rounds.. I don't know why considering that all of the ammo through the pistol before was good factory ammo.

Love my old P228--been flawless from the beginning. I always start with my P228 for my first time shooter friends who want to try a semi-auto. Low recoil, accurate, and fits most hands like a glove. Helps first timers enjoy the experience more when the gun doesn't scare them to death and is easy to shoot. Sorry you're having issues with the M11A1. Hope this isn't a sign of Sig's quality taking a dump overall.

Please take into consideration that your Sig was built for the Military who ordered the firearm to be made to shoot 124 gr or heavier Plus P ammo. Average Plus P velocity 1220 to 1324 or higher. Remember, it was built for the Military and combat. I have a 1993, P228. You can put a weaker recoil spring or just use the correct bullet weight in a Plus P. A good combat ammo is the Speer God Dot 124 +P will work and save your life. Nice firearm and good video. Thanks.

I've learned stick with the original of a design, Sig P220, Glock 17, HK USP 40 u get the idea, For a smaller gun get a j framer revoler or a Seecamp but stick with the classic models of a gun design and you'll enjoy gun collecting/hobby a lot more. Other models that arnt the original are just after thoughts.

Call me late for dinner, but I'm using my wife's phone here ( my piece of shit broke!!😠 ) but, I'm watching your M11 A1 video after purchasing mine just this last week! Now, I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but she's sure pretty to look at! LOL I've liked your other posts, so figured that this would be excellent as well, which it was! I'm hoping that my M11 A1 has been improved since this video debuted back four long years ago, but being a SIG SAUER firearm, I would expect so??? Anyhow, I gained some excellent tips & knowledge on this firearm from your video, and believe it or not, the ejector is still sloppy loose all these years later???? I guess not enough of us complained? HaHa!! Anyhow, I appreciate your posts, and look forward to hearing more my friend, especially if it concerns my Sig Sauer - M11 A1 also being that it's my first Sig? Well, not my first, but I'm not going to include that difficult lil' bitch that I bought my lil' girls years back called the "MOSQUITO" which was one picky ass little pistol, but I'm not here to complain, because my newest Sig sure is pretty!! Keep up the great work bro, and thanks!!! Sincerely, - Jay - from Detroit!

Glock said the same thing to me. I was having problems with a new Glock throwing brass in my face. They recommended using 124 rather than 115 grain. I told them I shouldn't have to and sent them a video of the problem. They told me to ship it to them (on my dime) until I asked them to send a label. Once they took possession of the gun and tested it, hey called me back and admitted it was throwing brass in their face too. They installed a new ejector and it was fine. That said, Glock's quality control is second to none. They allegedly do everything in house, and I don't know any handgun manufacturers that can claim that.

Lefties don't have the slide lock problem if any. I have found that some shooters on sigs are in denial that they ride slide stop, once that’s cured they are sig fans trust me I know from training shooters. Once shot a bit sigs have a smooth Cadillac recoil pulse.

Pete why don't you just get an old early version of the P228? I had one for a long time before selling it. Wish I could have sent it to you. Just don't like the high bore access. No more Sigs.

Want a Sig that won't fail? Get a P320, I have about 500 rounds through mine with only slide lock back failures that were 100% my fault. It's the best of both worlds, it's polymer framed and a similar price like the Glock...but it's a Sig! hahaha!

I heard there were issues with the new Hampshire quality control and didn't believe it, but my m11a1 had the frame sticker thing from a desert tan mk25 on it. even similar serial numbers but definitely not meant for mine lol

+Michael StJohn like a champ, got about 2500 rounds through it. love it, but it was funny about the sticker and it had some finish issues, but nothing major enough for me to care about. also my extractor is not loose like Pete's. not sure what that is about.

There's 2 different Extractors. Most classics from Sig now run the E2 extractors. The P220 and few others use what we call legacy extractors. The E2 extractors like what your M11 has, is easy to move but that doesn't mean anything. They test fire these guns with +P ammo before they even leave the building. I have no idea who told you that you needed to run these guns "wet" or it needs specific ammo, but they couldn't be anymore wrong. You can run these guns dry and use whatever ammo you want. Seals literally went to Glock because of weight and cost because our military is under attack for our budget, thanks to our present government and president. The SAS and many other spec ops and LEO around the world still use Sigs. You can build these guns without anything but a hammer type and a punch and that is it. I've put 900 rounds through my P226 TACOPS without cleaning it and maybe lubing it twice. Never a problem and my trigger is way better than any Glock and the reset rivals that of a 1911 because of the factory SRT. I've put shitty steel case ammo and high end stuff through it without a hitch. Instead of asking shitty customer service, which we all know, doesn't ever know shit, Get into contact with someone knowledgable and who's an armorer for these guns before dogging on them. I do have both Glocks and Sigs and both have been perfectly reliable. My Sigs tend to be more accurate though.

My Gen 4 G19 runs the cheapest, Tulammo or Federal aluminum I can get my hands on. It's not all I shoot, but if I load it, the ol G19 is gonna run it.

+theARMORYchannel So basically you implied that the Navy Seals got sick of the Sig P226 unreliability and switched over to Glock? Which means that the Navy Seals were carrying an unreliable weapon all these years and doesn't make sense.

+John Wick Sig Sauer products have gone downhill? That is pretty extreme to say the least, there are still too many professionals that use Sig firearms for anyone to simply say they have gone downhill. I think they are a quality firearm, and that is a reasonable thing to say. They have been in Exeter for a long time now, I am aware that they changed ownership several years ago, but that is about it. You actually proved my point the Navy Seals switched guns because the P226 is big and heavy not because it jams with shitty ammo.

Good video Pete, what ammo did they say has problems? As much as I love Sigs. I can buy 2 Glocks. Have you made a holster for a Glock 22? I'm looking for one, so let me know. Thanks, PeteR Congrats on the light Dave you'll love it.

With all due respect. You have more problems with guns than anyone in all of the gun community. If you think any super mass produced ammo is "high quality" youre nuts.Everything today is shit...even ammo.

I've run over a thousand flawless rounds through my P226 Mk25, cleaned the thing religiously, holstered and re-holstered it, and that fucking sticker still hasn't peeled off. Not even a little, it's like a super adhesive.

High temp wheel bearing grease, brotha. The red stuff. Cheap as hell and everything runs like a top. Use it on everything from AK to AR to Glock.

jim bob Fire the gun once and it's not a low temp condition anymore. Put the gun in the fridge and try it for yourself. It works wonderfully.

jim bob Trust me, it will. Do what you want, but the people that I trust most on topics like this all use grease because it is superior. Oil is shit. As soon as the gun starts running it gets flung everywhere and burns off when it gets hot. There's a reason practically all machinery uses grease where metal meets metal. The only place they use oil in is in a setting where it can constantly replenished/recirculated.... Don't get me wrong, I use oil in certain places too (revolvers, trigger/hammer springs, recoil springs), but I use grease on rails, bolts, locking lugs, etc.
