This guy was not understanding any of what Matt and Tracie said for long because they were using language which he doesn´t understand. The guy was basically saying that the scratches were evidence for ghosts. We atheists need to debunk this callers using their language without complicating it always.

When I was 18, I had an experience. I went to bed and became paralyzed. I couldn't move at all. I was terrified. I stayed that way for some time, unable to move or yell for help. At some point, I came out of it and was so exhausted and because I wasn't at home, I decided not to deal with it. The next morning, it seemed really silly and I had no after affects. I had this experience at least 20 more times in the next 20 years. I asked a couple of doctors about it and never got an answer that made much sense. I never once thought it was God visiting, ghosts or Martian invader because I had been an atheist since my early teens. My head wasn't full of that sort of nonsense. Many years later I came to believe it was night terrors. Nothing particularly scary or dangerous. If your head is full of woo, woo becomes a possible answer. Without woo, it's just something that you don't understand.

It has something to do with how your body protects you when you dream so when you dream about jumping out a window, you are paralyzed and can't do that. I continued to have the issue for several years. Think an episode every few years rather than once a month. It's wierd and disturbing but I haven't had one in 30 years. I'm 78. My point was that's the kind of experience that that some people experience that they interpret as something that it's not. Ghosts, ET visits their bedroom. Even that first episode when I was 18 only made wonder if I had a medical issue. Even the next day, I felt 100% normal and didn't have another episode for many years. I laugh it off now, but it's not a pleasant thing to experience and anyone who does should get it checked out. My brain is OK now*^)(&)&)&555

At first, Keith's general scenario combined with his somewhat-undefined puzzlings over it made me worry that it was gonna be a ridiculous, pointless conversation. Instead, it turned out to be really interesting. At some point, I realized how Keith was being a very good, open-minded listener, and he asked at several times to to hear something repeated, in order for him to absorb the information & questions better. He was doing his best to understand what he was hearing, seemingly without bias. It seems he actually learned a few new things, and he displayed willingness to change his views as he perhaps learned more about the importance of seeking meaningful truths. For the show's hosts, I call a double-stroke of near-genius, for turning this around into a very-informative & engaging episode, complete with a happy ending.

One day, not at band camp, my three year old freaked out cos he thought there were ghosts in his room. I patiently explained to him that a house is made of materials that expand and contract as the daily temperature varies and because of that you hear creaky noises and other sounds at night (when it cools down) that can make you think it’s other things. He understood but still slept in our bed that night. That night, I awoke abruptly to hear the strangest noise emanating from his bedroom ... I checked he was still in with us, and he indeed was, lying between me and the missus. I heard the noise again and shat myself - there was definitely someone or something in his room down the corridor. I exited the safety of the bed, and picked up a brass seven armed candlestick like the one from the temple of Solomon (it used to be my aunties), and hesitantly inched down the corridor in my birthday suit, but armed. The noise happened again and I was CONVINCED there was a sentient being of some description doing some wilful act in his bedroom. I’d already shat myself so that option was now unavailable. I crept closer thinking I was going to be eaten or murdered or worse, and peaked into the room as ...... his Power Rangers poster peeled off the wall and fell to the floor. The blue tac adhesive blobs securing the poster at the top had given up their sticky properties and the poster had detached and rolled off the bloody wall. That was all it was! Just goes to show how we humans can misinterpret occurrences and personalise a noise into a fearful foe. Never forgot that. Little man said to me, as I got back to the bed “did you get it daddy?” Ya I did - it ain’t coming back. True story.
