Congrats to you and your wife! I'm sure your kids are cool too. I think your planning is honestly smart. I often worry about young couples with kids because I know how much of a financial responsibility it is to care of children. I don't have kids but I was one once XD. To me, though, the problem is that many times, people recieve bad information or no information at all in our schools. If the US, a pretty wealthy nation, has problems teaching our children about sex and contraception, I'm not so sure that other nations are doing too well on that front either. Our schools still seem to have deep religious, anti-progressive ties that cause students to receive and believe information that is flat out wrong. You may think people with lots of kids are stupid but imagine if you and your wife, for example, didn't get any lessons about how sex worked except from your friends and family. If someone comes from a family and school system that sees sex as something that should never be mentioned, they might not know how to handle a pregnancy yet. Also, the US's own cultural beliefs and laws influence what we know and think about abortions. Alabama has criminalized abortions even in cases of rape and medical emergency. Usually, when two people love (or tolerate) each other, they'll want to have sex. It's easy to say "Just don't have sex, ya losers!" but honestly, in my case at least, I can't go a single day without having at least some thoughts about my SO. Also lots of people (from what I've seen, this is a quite rare attitude to have nowadays) come from backgrounds in which having lots of kids is the norm. They may expect their children to work for them and their business or care for them in old age. I'm not saying that people with large families don't know any better. I just know that it's not as simple as abstinence. Also, I'm sure that you wouldn't want people to say that you're just "spawning" or "popping out" kids. It's very dehumanizing. Like really. These are people just like you and me (I'm actually a rogue lefty AI but keep that to yourself, please) and a lot of them _are_ in dire situations. I'll never have to worry about fleeing my country unless we fuck up the 2020 election so I have no idea what being in those conditions is like. The more we stare them in the mouth and analyze every last one of their decisions, the weaker our country becomes. Immigrants, to me are financial and culturally necessary for our country to continue being the absolute powerhouse that it is. Immigrants have enriched our lives by inventing (Nikola Tesla), entertaining, ( Idris Mother Fucking Elba) and even building the very foundation of the country's economy and infrastructure (the horrible era of slavery and indentured servitude) and it'll take more than a few anecdotes to convince me to hate my fellow Americans. Even though I'm a triggered lefty snowflake that wants to destroy your comics and movies, I wish your family the best. Also, I'd recommend reaching out to people in your workplace that are from other countries. The world's a big place and they've probably been somewhere you'll never visit. Life is short. The parents are illegal and brought the last illegal kid as a baby who is now 30. He now has a crack baby and another one on the way. They issue driver's licenses and apparently don't check social security when they sign up. Amazing I know. No questions asked when his girlfriend (citizen) signed them both up for food stamps. No questions asked, no id for the illegal boyfriend. Worked at Kroger, and of course under the table. No problem, I am sure he gets freebies, healthcare, good etc for the new kid and I think another one on the way. Social security is based on credits and number of years in the system for legal people, I am not 100 % sure, but I think 5 years is enough or they collect on a spouse who is invested in the system. Poor people here in America, get free school, food, phones, heat or electric, gov't assistance with housing. NOT ALL, but if you good at using it or fake info, they can do it. CASH on the side to get by and have a horrible, regular poor person's life,,,,,but compared to other parts of the world, we still have it made here. I just wish we would have taken care of our own people, seniors, poor people rather than the world and let the politicians and corporations get by with 4 generations of illegals coming here. I'm guessing I'm supposed to be emotionally outraged by this video. Using the word "undocumented" instead of ILLEGAL immigrants is just playing semantics. If a person is undocumented, that means they committed a crime. It shouldn't be up to Americans to cater to criminals. There is something bad wrong in this country when refugee road looks wealthier than most American neighborhoods. Take a look at skid row and see too many American born citizens in need of assistance. We should help people from other countries before we help our own? If someone is living in fear of ICE agents then they have made a poor decision to sneak in to a foreign country and should blame themselves not the ICE agents or Americans or American laws. People seeking asylum should seek it in the nearest country to where they are coming from and should do so according to the laws of that country. Just because the American dream is appealing doesn't mean people can flood the USA seeking asylum from all over the world. As a parent myself, I would NEVER sneak into a foreign country with my children and then have more children born in the country that I would be squatting in because that would put me at risk of criminal charges, deportation, and separation from my children. It would be MY fault though because I made poor and criminal decisions. I certainly wouldn't blame the agency tasked with dealing with the situation. It isn't hateful, racist, or un-American to have a closely monitored vetting process for immigrants. It's necessary for the safety of America and it's LEGAL citizens.
