4:18 that looks more like 1/5 of the way when I compare it on paint I'm not sure which would be correct?

It's not to scale. The image is just to help visual learners.

This is the actual measurement without the seam allowance, right? Thanks so much.

Yes!

When you say the shoulder measurement may or may not go past the diagonal line on you mean it’s ok if the lines intersect?
@TheAwlNighter15 жыл бұрын
Yes, having the line intersect is ideal.

Does this bodice need darts, and why?
@TheAwlNighter14 жыл бұрын
The darts are needed to create a fitted look. This is the base of most designs. So from the darts, you can create different style lines, princess seams, turn them into gathers, etc. If you find darts unnecessary for your body type, mark where they would go so you have a guideline for future designs.

What is the size bodice that is used and what are the measurements? How do you calculate the measurements to get to the first leg of the waist dart? This tutorial is definitely not for beginners. It just showed how to connect the lines. It would be nice to also include the measurements & calculations.

Hi Maggie! This tutorial is for making a custom a bodice tailored to your (or your dress form's) measurements so there's really not any standard measurements. For the first leg of the waist dart, it will be slightly less than halfway to the side seam. Many people like to take the measurement you get from center back to midarmhole and divide that in half to get the measurement for the first dart leg as well. Hopefully this helps!
