Yes, this one *is* one of the few songs where Ricky played a 4 string. Most songs are 5 string, but this is a 4. The tuning is CFxxFF, but if you play guitar and want to imitate him, unless you're willing to set the guitar up with the same strange gauges, you won't get the sound. The guitar model is a 1966 Mosrite Ventures Mark V with a 24.50" scale length (yes, 24.50",) and it has Mosrite Pickups. The strings used are .058, .056, empty, empty, .018p, and .018p. (You read that right, and I typed it right. His guitar tech, Keith Bennett, told me these gauges.) The amplifier used for the album version was probably a Fender Twin Reverb, while this one is a Mesa Boogie Mark II. I can't say about amplifier settings yet. Ricky also played Rock Lobster and Runnin' Around in this tuning. However, numerous songs from the first album are slightly sharper than standard tuning, which seems to be on purpose. Some songs are in the standard of 440 HZ, others (like Rock Lobster) are in 445 HZ, and "Moon" is in 453 HZ.

Yes. I love it when girls belt out lyrics the way Cindy does here!! Really good for rock and roll. Actually this band is just really good. With Ricky and Keith really carrying the melody here and everyone else doing their own thing over it.

Man, I thought this was the weirdest song when I first heard it in 1981! I’d just spent two years in Chile as a Mormon missionary. Chilean radio had played bands like Blondie, the Knack, and the Police; however, so far as I knew, the Bee Gees were still cranking out disco hits in the US. The sea change that happened in pop music while I was gone left me reeling for several months, but, by the end of Summer 1981, the B-52’s were my favorite group.

Cindy Wilson's decent into madness, a mockery of Motown by a seemingly broken soul. The bass line is decending into a very deep hole aswell. The banging keys of a child's toy piano as a hauntingly repeated organ strike keeps time like a warning becon . Everything in time yet seems just a little off. Her deep alto voice reaches down to a guthral growl at times before breaking into rhythmic horror movie like screaming lyrics. It's dark , but brilliant. While the stabbing guitar seems to add some coherence and 60's style syncopation ,just another dark striking layer. The best song the B52's ever did. Then it reverts to the usual silliness the band is known for, but for a moment they achieved an original master peice. Listing to it is like seeing a bloody car wreck in slow motion, you want to look away ,but keep replaying it ,uncomfortably.
