Oh my goodness. I am a 1-year retired LAFD firefighter, and I just want to say this is sooooo good. It's hilarious. But you know what, the sad thing is the FACT that this is basically what is going on with this DEI crud. I've know about the original Larson video for years, but it's good to see it come to light so that EVERYONE can see the atrocities that are going on in just this department alone. I used to be proud to call myself an LAFD Firefighter/Paramedic, but between the vaccine mandate, staffing shortages, medical supply shortages (yes, we had to steal supplies from hospitals), DEI, morale at an all time low, because of increased call volume and decreased staff, some of which were fired for not getting the vaccine, I was lucky to make it through to 20 years before I got fired for not taking the experimental drug. In the end, I HATED who I worked for, still loved what I was doing and was willing to go further in years, but one can only take so much. Sorry for ranting.

I have 15 years in EMS is SoCal, am a union set medic for the film industry, was really really hoping to apply/join LAFD this year but bc of the reasons you mentioned, I don't think I am. Ive had that internal struggle the last year of wanting to be a member of one of the greatest FD's in the country but I hear from active duty members all the time that the morale is so low, the call volume is so high ( especially the RA's/800's) and there seems to be no "backup" from the city to alleviate those issues. Don't even get me started on the mandates..... And now these fires....Im 40 and another thing I hear from older FF's is that these 20 y/o's don't have a good work ethic, don't want overtime, etc. It doesn't seem like the idealistic dept I remember from when I was a kid in the 90's. Congrats on your retirement and thanks for the 20 years of service.

I guess if LAFD had people at top with logical brains and people at lower rung of the ladder with courage to challenge the conventional norm of following orders from top, many more houses/properties could be have been saved. This is because I saw a video of an old gentleman where he single handedly saved at least 3 properties, including his own from burning when all around him many properties burnt down to ashes. He refused to evacuate and did what his common sense filled brain "dictated" him to do to save his property and of others.

BB - My husband and I are sitting at our kitchen table watching this video. We were laughing so hard at the video and subsequent comments that we have tears in our eyes. My husband is a retired CalFire captain with nearly 40 years of service. Well done to the BB and all the commenters who have great comedic skills- 👏 BTW my husband is only partially legged challenged…as he has had to have both knees replaced and has a wonky back because during a structure fire the roof with the air conditioning unit collapsed onto him swinging like a pendulum and drove him through a wall and splitting his helmet in two. Never fear, there was another non-legged challenged firefighter that pulled him to safety…tho’ he did sustain a broken back. Be well all and God bless all those men and women fighting fires.
