I remember watching Vince sing this at George Jones' funeral. Patty Loveless sang with him, and he broke down during the song and Patty just carried on for him. what a moving performance. thanks for sharing this

Look guys, I am 6'2 and 260 lbs of twisted steel and Southern sex appeal. I've lost more than my fair share of friends and family to everything from cancer to car wrecks, from overdoses to suicide. But EVERYTIME I hear this song I break down and cry! It's such a soulful song and it hits me right in the feels. Thanks for review and keep up the good work!

I had the version where Vince has Patty Loveless joining Ricky Skaggs in backup played at my husband's funeral 11 years ago. I think this song has replaced Amazing Grace as the most requested song being played at funerals. Beautiful lyrics. Beautiful instrumentals. Beautiful voice from Vince and amazing harmony provided by Alison (or Patty) and Ricky. What's not to love.

Vince Gill Pure Prairie League. also 1985 Farm Aid Victim of Life's Circumstances. Vince has been visible and charting since 1975 with Pure Prairie League, and then broke out in monster fame in 1990. He charted regularly for the next 22 years. He doesn't need hits anymore to make the audience turn up.

The original version with Patti Loveless, rather than Allison Krauss is also beautiful. Vince Gill is a country legend and his voice is stellar. He did a live performance of "How Great Thou art", with Carrie Underwood that's outstanding. You should check it out.

Allison Krauss has won 27 Grammies and the other harmony, Ricky Skaggs also has won multiple Grammies as well (not sure of number), both in Bluegrass/Country genres. Think Krauss not too long ago was 3rd in number of Grammies ever awarded. And she does some covers of some interesting tunes, like BABY, NOW THAT I'VE FOUND YOU, a 60s song by the Foundations. Different take and worth a listen.

The only one on there that's not a slide show is the father daughter dance from my wedding because that was my one and only father daughter dance ever and my dad was a triple amputee and he died a year later. And with him being in a wheel chair he told me he wouldn't be able to and I said yes we will. So I just started my page a couple days ago. My dad was only 61. I am the only girl and the baby at that. I am still dealing with him being gone.

Vince Gill is the best guitarist, incredible song writer, and singer! He was in bands, backup singer on hundreds of songs, and his voice can't be matched! Love this song. They sang it for George Jones tribute and Vince could hardly make it through due to crying. He is married to Amy Grant.

They played this at my great-grandfathers funeral, whom I was VERY close to, when I was in 6th grade. My grandfather, his son, who is now 84 wants it played at his, as does my brother who is military. It was also played at my best friends funeral who was killed in a car accident 6 years ago on December 5th.

This song was originally dedicated to his friend Keith Whitley and his brother. I'm no stranger to the rain is a reference to Keith's song of the same title. Keith was from my tiny hometown, Sandy Hook, Elliott County, Kentucky. I grew up knowing the whole Whitley family. Keith and Ricky, who's from the next county over, would play bluegrass music together when they were first starting out. BTW, shout out to the Kentucky T-shirt!

February 28th 2018 I lost my youngest baby to a tragic car wreck. Her name is Courtney marie Bradshaw from Southampton County Virginia. She made very early breaking news in the Tidewater region and front page of many news papers. She was 20 at the time. He birthday is March 20th 1997. She left one child behind. Her son Gabriel Logan. He FB has been left up for all to see since she had many many friends. She would light anywhere she went. She was an Angel from the time she was given to me. May each and every person whom has lost a child, I pray we can find that peace within. Seems I may never. Much love to you all.
