This was his first single to hit the radio...that’s all it took! Then the video hit and women went crazy...also, let’s hear it for Patty Loveless!
@fawnebrown461927 күн бұрын
Actually this was his first hit song but it was a long time coming. When Mark Knopfler invited him to join Dire Straits, Vince declined saying he wanted to give his solo career more time. It was after that When I Call Your Name was released....and the rest is history. But before then he had other songs released on RCA that did ok, just none that were the break through big hit he was looking/hoping for. I think that's when he switched record labels and joined MCA. Maybe they had him focus on a different sound or style than before or just he was writing better songs. I listened to his earlier stuff and liked those songs too. Some of them are my favorite songs by Vince. Plus he had songs on the radio when he was with Pure Prairie League.
@Bamaboompa4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad I saw your video. I had forgotten that Patty Loveless sang with him on it. As others have pointed out, if you need an emotional purge, watch them at George Jones' funeral. It is an iconic moment in country music.

This was produced back when the country music machine still had a soul of sorts.😉 Vince Gill is a living legend that still writes and plays music in several different genres. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007. This song and Pocket Full of Gold are two of my all-time favorites by him, and both feature backup vocals by his good friend and also a country music legend in her own right, Patty Loveless (Patricia Ramey).😍 Great reaction India!!😁👍🎵🎶🎵
