Totally agree! It would be wise for all of us, to take a look at the life of Samson. Now I've come to love Samson, and I'm grateful he had one last opportunity in which he was strengthened by the LORD, but what a sad way to die. And how horrible that his eyes were taken out. I have heard it say, that "sin blinds you." Samson did get close to the edge several times. May this not be the case for God's people.

If you love God, you will not use his grace as a free card to live like the devil. If you hate the sin, try to flee it, and ended up doing it anyway, the Lord is just to forgive you. If you say I will on Saturday, for God will forgive me on Sunday, chances are you never knew him in the first place. God knows our hearts. May the Lord Jesus return soon! Amen. God is merciful. He always forgives. Never be ashamed to take your failures to him. He is for you, not against you! God is with you in the storm. He knows your troubles, he hears you! He is for you, on your side, always! It may feel silent at times, but he’s holding you close! May the Lord return soon! We are drawing closer. He is coming! Believe and trust in the Lord, you will be saved. Period. May the Lord bless you all! Hang in there family. Stay strong. It is not easy following the Lord. We are scoffed at. We give up our earthly dreams, our fleshly desires. What the enemy offers is short lived, but heaven is forever! Life may seem or be unfair, but God is with you! Always remember that. Things may get better or worse for you, but a kingdom awaits you! Finish the race! Repent daily and carry your cross. This world is fading fast. Your troubles are temporary! I made this channel because I felt guilty for not witnessing enough, I’d appreciate any kind of support. Don’t give up! God loves you so much! So do I. The Lord bless you!!

Brother Allen, I had a problem with alcohol many years ago. We grow grapes ..... and make wine......I am never tempted to drink. ...The LORD set me free from alcohol a long time ago. No desire whatsoever ever for it. That's what the HOLY SPIRIT does...AMEN. 🍃🔥🍃
@skyskrapa88322 жыл бұрын
If the Holy Spirit is working in you, then shouldn't you have the spirit of self-control? That's one of the fruits of the spirit. And the bible says wine makes the heart of man glad. It says in Ecclesiastes, "Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.” I am tired of all these people saying they're free from alcohol when they're denying their God-given right to drink. Like it's a bad thing because they had self-control issues in the past. Like we're supposed to rejoice with them because they're free from something when they're really just limiting themselves. Sounds to me like you've been led astray by the drug addiction/rehab industry to think something that you should not. And if you think I shouldn't be saying this because wine is unclean to you, you're putting one verse over another, and God is not divided. Remove all hypocrisies, and desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.

All the men wanted me to drink the whine. I refused the whine and drank the only alternative drink being water. But they kept on pushing the whine. I finally just left because I felt so uncomfortable. Years later I realized that they wanted me to get me drunk so they could have their way with me. Women need to be careful about the drinks offered by men, even so called Christian men.

Thank you for another biblically sound teaching! Respecting others is not a quality easily found in this day and age, but this teaching matches exactly to what I grew up with so I praise God for that. Sometimes the struggle I feel in my heart hearing this reminds me I’m still flesh and selfish. I want what I want and I don’t delight in holding back for the sake of others convictions. My dilemma right now is this: I’m getting married in 2wks and I come from a very conservative church which won’t allow me to do or have certain things in my wedding (down to things like only allowing Christian music, no ring ceremony etc) I want to respect them and not offend my guests, but I fail to see that these things hinder there relationship with Christ. There are lines that seem ridiculous to cross for other people to accept me because no matter what you do in life you are risking offense to fellow believers. but In this case I have no choice so I will follow the guidelines given to me and pray that God knows my heart.

I was told all this when I was beginning the walk of faith and trying so hard to do and understand. It drove me totally crazy. Even to the point where I couldn't fix this one dish because I needed rum in it. How am I going to do that. I can't be seen going into a liquor store. Even after 25 years of my walk with God, this comes at you because of the diversity of cultures in the country. But this teaching gives me a sense of peace . also it opened my eyes to the fact that I once was where you are and if you are coming to me for answers how I should realize that we get on their level and go up one step at a time. We are not to push our agenda or our hangups on others. If your friends are vegan respect that. If your Christian friends like a glass of wine don't cull them. It is not your place to change them into who and what you think they should be. Open up the word and feed them the words of the Bible not your words or your beliefs That's why I love Allen Parr. He's done all the work for us. Save his videos. Watch them over and over again. Write down in an Allen Parr booklet the titles of his subjects and the chaptors and verses they coincide with. He's already done that for us too. Remember faith is the renewing of the mind first. In time other things fall into place. One day at a time Sweet Jesus. God Bless You Allen Parr. Thank you for instilling the desire to not only want to learn more but to acquire the wisdom it takes to put our knowledge to GOOD use.

@nateschultz89732 жыл бұрын
This was a good summary of the topic, overall, but it neglected a few concepts. Knowledge also tells us that certain situations tempt towards sin, as a normal rule. The principles discussed in this video are focused on limiting liberty when the temptation arises from differing standards. That rubric of expectation of encountering a weaker brother needs to expand to anyone who might be tempted to sin by your choice. If it's unreasonable to expect a person not to be tempted to sin by a situation we create, we're not justified by claiming that we didn't know. It's wrong even if most of those tempted pass the test. (If we discover that we did or have been doing something harmful and didn't realize it, well, that was innocently done but can't be continued.) We also need to be mindful of *why* we are choosing what we are doing, because liberty in Christ doesn't cover an evil spirit. If the spirit steering isn't holy, the liberty Paul was describing doesn't apply. Try the spirits, brethren. There are dangerous ones that play at being holy. There are many sins (some subtle) to watch out for *in our own minds*. The urge to present one's self as desirable, rich, and successful gets wrapped up in various lusts and pride, even before we consider the effect on others. The question of being a stumbling block is a distinct, parallel consideration. *Why* you want the flash car or attire figures into whether it is, for you, a sin. If *you* wear something *to be sexy*, for instance, you have chosen to *intentionally present yourself* in a manner to incite sexual lusts in your audience. You might not be thinking about it in precisely that way, without there being a meaningful difference. (Desire to feel sexy? That's one of *your* lusts that you're following. Be careful.) If your spouse is your intended audience, that can actually be a holy thing. If it isn't, consider your audience and why you want them to react that way. Displays designed to illicit envy are similar except I can't think of a holy context for that impulse off the top of my head. The principles listed in the video were good and sound but incomplete. Modesty & humility are virtues to cultivate. A loving spirit that realizes it's harmed or harming another will course correct. Intent matters.

Showing this to my dad because I find he and I are always at odds with the freedoms I want and the freedoms he expects of me based on his own moral conscience and the struggles that he deals with are then projected onto me and how I live my life. I have found him to have a much weaker conscience than myself, where he will avoid and prevent me from watching any R-rated films and dictate what my sister can wear demanding that she always dress as modest as possible, among other things. What is a struggle for one Christian is not an issue for another. It's not fair for someone to assume every person thinks like them in this regard.

Hello Allen! I really enjoy your channel. I am trying to take in what you are saying. I have struggled with this for years because my flesh wants to watch all the entertainment on TV, wear the 2 pc and do all the things. However the more I have grown in the word I don’t see how those things are good for any believer. I know Jesus would not sit beside any believer and tell them to watch most pg13 movies much less an R rated movie. Most entertainment and secular music includes a level of sex, murder, cursing, fighting etc.. The Bible tells us to think on good things not things in direct contradiction to his word. I believe many times we are a stumbling block to ourself because we want to be like the world. We use scripture to justify our actions and our freedom wrongly. I think the big takeaway is not to think of ourselves first, but to love our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. If that needs us to restrain ourselves from some activities at certain times, it should not be that much of a burden to do that if we love others as Christ loved us. Now, there is also the need for some common sense in which some activities are not even close to being a stumbling block and the other person is being illogical and unreasonable. In that case, a conversation needs to take place, but you should not feel you are causing them to stumble in that instance. Exercise wisdom.

Two portions from scripture come to my mind : 1. God used a kind of “stumbling block” when He showed Peter the vision of the unclean animals! That was meant to deliver Peter from his Jewish way of thinking and to make him realize that God had a plan of salvation for the gentiles! 2. Peter was corrected in the book of Galatians about being a hypocrite eating with the gentiles and later when some Jews came he distanced himself from the gentiles! My question is does it happen that when we’re straightforward we risk to offend people but when we’re too careful not to become stumbling blocks we end up being hypocrites?

After listening to many near death experiences earth stuff like this seems really disconnected from who we are as a spirit. Our bodies are really keeping us prisoners to the pleasures of this world. See your body as an opposing force trying to keep you bound to sin & you will finally be able to master it. You are spirit. You are not your body. Edit: Scriptural Reference: “But I see in my members (body) another law waging war against the law of my mind & making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.” - Romans 7:23
@contextforchrist23952 жыл бұрын
This is actually terrible advice. Scripture does not teach this kind of distinction between body and spirit. This is gnosticism, my friend. When Scripture speaks of the flesh warring against the Spirit it is not talking about our literal flesh. Paul even says himself that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Why would he say that if our physical body is trying to keep us prisoners of sin? Our physical bodies are not sinful. The flesh on the other hand is the corrupted sinful nature of man, which is manifested through physical acts with our bodies, but our bodies themselves are not inherently sinful. Scripture actually tells us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God which is our spiritual worship. God is just as much concerned with the physical as He is with the spiritual. I'd encourage you to really rethink your position, because it's clear your argument here is not based on the Scriptures but rather on the experiences of others, which is what you said. Experiences cannot be the foundation for our beliefs as Christians. We must stand on God's Word as the ultimate foundation for what we believe.
@JC-li8kk2 жыл бұрын
@@contextforchrist2395 It is the body that seeks to be pleased. That is in a sense where our flesh comes from. Without our body there would be no flesh. It would be impossible to please the flesh without a body. The “near death experiences” I referred to has nothing to do with the comment I made about the body. It was in reference to how much we are focused on the pleasures of this life on earth as opposed to the real meaning of our time on earth. And yes it is biblical. “But I see in my members (body) another law waging war against the law of my mind & making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.” - Romans 7:23
@contextforchrist23952 жыл бұрын
@@JC-li8kk 1. Thank you for the clarification on the near-death experiences you mention in your original comment. In that light, I retract from my accusation that your position was based on other people's experiences. Forgive me for that false accusation. 2. You said, "It is the body that seeks to be pleased". Where in Scripture are you getting this idea? The verse you quoted from Romans 7:23 literally says the opposite of what you're arguing. Paul said that he finds in his body the law of sin, which we would classify as the flesh. But Paul does not say that his body is sinful. Again, when the Scriptures speak of our flesh in terms of our sin it is not talking about our physical literal fleshly bodies. I agree with you that it is impossible to please the flesh (our sinful nature that is still within us, though we are no longer a slave to it [Rom. 6:7]) without a physical body but think about this: the physical body we use to please the flesh is the exact same physical body we use to please God. It is the flesh (sinful nature) that seeks to keep us enslaved to sin. It is not the physical body.

@Jason First, to address the verse you quoted, Paul is not saying that material things cannot inherit the kingdom of God because if that were the case then it wouldn't make much sense for Jesus to be resurrected physically and be taken to Heaven in the same physical body of flesh and blood (see Luke 24:39). What Paul is saying here is that our present bodies, the ones we have right now, cannot inherit His Kingdom. But why? The reason is not because of any moral or ethical reason, but because these bodies we currently live in are subject to disease, brokenness of bones, decay, and physical death which are all results of sin, though our bodies themselves are not sinful (see my reply to JC below). This is why Paul then says that corruption cannot inherit incorruption, meaning that disease, injury, and decay cannot inherit a place where there is no disease, injury, or decay. Also, keep in mind that before sin entered the world, Adam and Eve were physical beings, not merely spiritual beings; they were both. Their physical bodies were perfect, and God said it was good. The physical bodies only became corrupted because sin came into the world, but the physical body is not inherently sinful. One more passage I will give is 1 Corinthians 6:20, "For you were bought with a price; therefore, glorify God in YOUR BODY AND your SPIRIT, which both belong to God". That's from the same passage where Paul said that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Paul didn't tell us the deny our body and glorify God in our spirit. No, he said to glorify God in our body AND our spirit. It's both/and.

You have to pray and ask God to search your heart like David did, and find out if there is anything you are doing that offends God. I started thinking it was alright to watch all these horror movies, as long as they were'nt about the devil. Started feeling slightly convicted , but brushed it aside, started asking God to help me discern whether or not I should be doing it. For the next two weeks I had horrible nightmares about things in those movies. Worst I have ever had. Yea, I shut that down quick and have not went back and now realize how much influence they were having over my mind. I know God doesn't always work like that, but I thought it was awsome that he did in that situation.

This is where I struggle in my Christian walk: I never really had questions until about two years ago. For the first time in my life I had tons of questions and still haven't really gotten the answers I am comfortable with. I guess that's the best way to put it. I don't struggle in my belief in God but with a lot of the other things. The more I read and study the Bible, the less I understand why I exist at all. And that's the part I struggle with. The information and impression I am getting is that "joy" or "happiness" is irrelevant. Our sole purpose is to worship God regardless of whatever has happened or is going to happen. We have no say so in any part of our lives or whether we should feel anything. Everything we do is a sin so we may as well just sit in a corner for the rest of our days. I'm a sinner from birth but I didn't CHOOSE to be born. So, I have to worship God and ask for forgiveness for the sin of my birth when I didn't CHOOSE to be born anyway. Why do we even have to marry or have children if none of it really matters in the end any way. I mean...other than that more people will exist to worship God. I feel numb now when I read the Bible. It just makes me feel sad and like a void. I don't feel like anything I do matters one way or another and I'm just waiting to die at this point. I mean...everything is a sin any way. I'm not suicidal, but I'm just saying...it doesn't seem like anything really matters much. I have never felt so sad and lonely in my life. I can imagine that for some people this is a few steps from how they end up going from being Christian to agnostic. And I never felt this way until I started to dig deeper in my faith. I felt good before...and now I just feel down and I'm having a hard time coming back from it. Again...my life circumstances didn't change other than I started to dig deeper into the faith. I still have the same loving family and friends so that never changed. Yet, being told over and over again via the Bible that my feelings are irrelevant and pointless...it's just kind of hits home. It hits home when you are told that "your" joy doesn't matter. God doesn't care about your happiness. You purely exist to worship and tell people about HIM. But...if I do that...and I still feel worthless...what was supposed to be the takeaway for me? These are the thoughts that have been going through my head for the past 2 years. It's like a Ferris wheel...it just goes around and around just like this and I feel numb now. Has anyone else ever felt this? What did you do?

I understand that there are ideas and questions which can be confusing for believers, for example that it is apparently sinful to listen to music or watch tv shows and the likes, but I do not think these are necessarily defining of the belief, that is the essential meaning, value, and purpose of the belief, although in these areas a lot does come to whether the individual is okay or not. I suspect there are differences from one person to the next, if one person can enjoy a show without being compromised as it were, that is good, but if another is compelled to do something wrong because of what they watch or listen to, then that could be quite problematic. And inasmuch as those differences are somehow related to media or other activities then similarly the individual is to be mindful of what is good or what may not be good in their case I do not think the Bible says or really does convey the idea that our emotions do not matter, if anything I would say it is very much otherwise, how a person feels is very much an essential distinction in many examples. For example the basis of the law is that we try to treat one another with good-will, kindness, and respect, which helps to think about how we are to consider and care for others who may be different to us in many kinds of ways. If we are to fulfil the essential ethos of the teachings and their guidance (Matthew 7:12) then we are to want to try to be mindful of the well-being of others and how we can be kind and understanding to them as individuals (similar to how we would hope that persons would be kind to us in ways that are meaningful to our well-being and personality) furthermore I don't think the Bible emphasises the notion of 'worship' that is often espoused within the belief (so it is not just your idea), most of the emphasis throughout the Bible is about learning to be a kind and good person with and for the sake of others. Most of the meaning we are to try to understand through the teachings, and very importantly for this very subject, what that meaning reflects and helps us to understand about God's will for humanity and existence in its totality, is that love is important and defining, and rather essential to those who want to develop their spiritual lives and personal existence the best example I can give, although not exactly accessible without extensive reading and awareness to the time and place in which these situations developed is the Mt Sina covenant that ensured the Israelites would be blessed in various ways in their daily and personal lives. For example one particular tribe of Israel, I think it may have been Gad, was also blessed with 'dainties', that is delicate foods and the like. The early example of a nation of believers was that of people being blessed in countless ways in their daily and personal lives, as with abundance and prosperity in general the Bible provides some indication of the type of world and existence that is sought and desired for humanity (and all living creatures), that is yet to be realised (Psalms 37:11), and for that matter I don't think the future scenario outlined throughout the Scriptures specifically points to an existence that is defined around worship, for that matter what is indicated is that our relationship and understanding of God will change in those times (Hosea 2:16) there is a contrast now because in many respects we are in a time and place of spiritual turmoil, there is a lot happening that presumably started well before human existence, and these spiritual processes largely culminate during the time of the tribulation, before the world and the heavens will begin to be both physically and spiritually restored, which is why there is so much emphasis on the believers looking after their hearts, minds, and spirits during this time and place, this milieu of human identity and existence in such a confused physical and spiritual state of being having said all that I do understand, respect, and sympathise with your concerns and troubles, I hope some of these ideas help, I actually do have to try to limit comments to avoid the possibility of shdewbenning (deliberate misspelling) but I can probably expand on or further elaborate in subsequent comments and replies if that would additionally help as the Messiah explained to us and what will the truth we can all hope and understand is that God has always wanted us to enjoy life and to have spiritually and personal autonomy (John 10:0) but whilst we can still have hope in those essential principles at this time we are also to understand this is in certain respects a time of personal spiritual danger and confusion so it is important for us to look after our hearts and minds and also to keep trying to learn to be more kind and understanding with others He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? (Micah 6:8)

Hi Lisa. When I was reading this, I was happy and also sad because I feel the same way. I have no doubts that God exists and that He's the only God. I love Him a lot but many times I hoped that I wasnt christian rather an agnostic, this christian faith just felt like a constant battle. You have to be faithful and obedient even during the worst days of your life, you have to abandon your fleshly desires for the greater good, to be pure and holy, but in the same time people say that you are not saved by your works but faith but then also say if you keep indulging in sin, you are not saved apprently. So much confusion when I study the bible and when I hear advice from other christians. My faith feels so controlling, and so "unnatural", like I have to fight against who I am constantly, my thoughts, desires, dreams, goals, likes and dislikes; everything needed to be aligned to God's will and approval. There's a lot more on my heart right now, but I can't articulate it properly. I tried to leave God before, but I always feel called back to Him. I hope this comment makes you feel better that someone can relate with u. God bless you, I hope you and I can keep walking in Christ despite this.

I hope I sound loving when I say this, but you guys just need to get out of your heads. I used to feel this way, so restricted and unhappy. Find your purpose in life through Jesus. Do something you’ve never done before. For me it was boot camp for the Marine Corps. When you actually get some real struggles in life, you start to see God’s true power and the joy of living for Him. If your biggest struggle is figuring out if you should watch a show or if something is sinful, that’s when you become unhappy. It’s not God, it’s the fact that you have no real exposure to the real world if that makes sense.

But Brother Allen, in as much as I agree with almost every part of what you said, I think I differ with you when it comes to the part where you talked about having 'KNOWLEDGE' of someone around you who may be struggling. Personally I think that as a believer (using the example of drinking wine in an open place) it is best that you avoid it completely. Because who knows if you will see someone that you may need to preach to in that same place but then that person already believes that drinking wine is not a Christian thing to do? And remember, the Bible teaches us to be ready to preach in season and out of season.

Chuck Swindoll gave a message one time that I believe, was aimed toward more mature Christians. He mentioned how some people will see a "six-pack in another Christian's refrigerator and try to 'counsel' them about it." (Some paraphrasing here, I heard the message quite some time ago.) I think we should look out for other Christians who aren't quite as well-versed in Scripture as we are but some Christians tend to hold back in their growth, because they like being a PIA to other Believers. Those are the ones who need to take a closer look at their walk with God.
