Behind The Sanctuary | Shen Meets His Dad!

In this episode of Behind The Sanctuary, we are mixing our family of Snow leopards. Shen and Laila have been living together in their half of the enclosure for the first 10 months of Shen's life but now we are mixing the family as one with the hope of this being a more permanent transition!

As a lover/passion of big cats - These Snow Leopards have always had my heart for Decades. I live in Africa & have never had the means to travel to England to see them in person. (Oh how I would love to go to the Himalayas to see them). Alas in my next life. The point of all this is to thank THE BIG CAT SANCTUARY for their videos through the lives of all their little ones that they so generously share with us. I cannot thank you enough for the joy you have given me. May 2024 bring you everything you require to take care of your cats.

Installing some bigger rocks or concrete structure in the enclosure will be helpful. They are more adapt to climbing rocks than trees. A cave or sth like that would be a bonus.

The big cats are the most beautiful animal species: Tiger, Jaguar, & Snow leopards specifically. I see their tails are very long, I assume for balance. Absolutely magnificently beautiful animals

I never realized how long the tails of snow leopards are. It's nearly as long as the rest of their body. Also a quick question: what does it mean when Shen and Jargo showed their fangs at each other? At 2:17 and later around 4:01

Their tails are long as they act to give them balance in the wild when chasing prey down steep cliffs

They open their mouth to get more odor since they have olfactory organ in their mouth too. Cats make that face when they smell something interesting and want smell more.

It's not showing teeth it's Flehman's response. They are using special organs in their upper jaw to smell pheromones. Lions and other big cats sometimes have their shole tongue out making the "stinky face" he is just chrcking out a scent mark

The snow leopard has excellent motor brain power to walk across rocky cliffs, and its thick limbs and tail are to withstand the harsh scaffolding. if? If possible, I want you to make something like simple rock climbing. It's impossible considering the cost and environment. Snow leopard I wanted to bring it back to my original life❣️

I love how they introduce the cats to their fathers but this would never happen in the wild. The males are solitary animals. Why are we trying to change these hunters into little humans???

Isn't it due to the risk of the father seeing the cub as weak and doing something similar to lions? I'm not sure if thats at all the case with snow leopard but maybe its just a legal requirement

Very strange knowledge appear...cats lives alone in Nature. But naw we understand - it's not natural behaviour! When they have food free, without killing, they can live like lovely family. The home cats do behaviour the same way.
