A HUGE thanks to Liam Ellis for this one!
Check out Parkour Journeys, it's epic: / @liamellis
My eBook and Training Program: www.thebioneer.com/product/su...
In this video, I trained with Liam to learn some parkour! I've always appreciated parkour but never really tried it properly (I used to jump off a lot of stuff). This was a fantastic opportunity for me to learn some of the authentic moves like the PK roll, palm spin, and various vaults.
I was also interested to see how my more functional-style training would hold up in this scenario.
I think parkour training is something that could benefit anybody. You don't need to be doing flips off of railings right away: you can practice rolls and balancing from the comfort of your home. In so doing, you'll be improving your proprioception, reducing your risk of injury, and improving your performance in pretty much any sport/activity.
What do you guys think? Will you be incorporating any ideas from freerunning into your training?

I used to do parkour in high-school. Being in my late 20s now. I don't do it at all but the body awareness i acquired from those days has saved me a handful of times. Having the instinct to tuck-roll has saved me from falling on my face where others in the same situation would break their wrists trying to stop the fall.

7:30 I'd say that statement also translates to martial arts training as well. cause if you do it long enough, than your body should really know the moves and techniques and how to put them together without thinking on it nearly as much. When I was training more regularly, I was arguably fastest when I wasn't thinking about it. So in summation, the scene in Enter the Dragon where Bruce was teaching the younger student....
@Jodamo

It's a true testament to your training practice how you were able to quickly pick up these skills. Building broad neural pathways enables new pathways to be formed more quickly. Just cool to see that principle in action.

If you want to learn the catpass, start with a 3-step and no running up to it. The rhythm is short-long-short, jump of. 1st step(short): mimicks the transition from running 2nd step(long): lowers your center of mass, shifts your body forward, preparing the dive. 3rd step(short): last redirection and takeoff. The most important step is the long, "deep" one, it sets up your center of gravity and will generate most of the force necessary to clear the object. If you do not focus on the 2nd step, you will do a hurdlelike catpass instead of diving into it.

It goes to show Adam that all the different types of training you do are functionally practical , you are an all round functional person where as a body builder look’s fantastic but doesn’t have as much function or stamina . I train like you , body weight, running , cycling, weight training, climbing, heavy bag workouts, ring workouts etc ,etc I love it . I got my first of three black belt in Wing Chung when I was 53 . I never went on any kind of enhancement performance whatever they use not even weigh protein. As far as I’m concerned if it doesn’t grow in the ground it doesn’t grow in a shop £££ , sorry I’ve gone on , I love watching you videos and I love the advice great motivational watching , by the way I’m 57 this year and still punching 🥊🥊🥊💪👍as will you at my age .
