What if it’s in VR? Ultimate has stages with weirdly detailed things that are unseen to the camera most of the time...except when it’s in VR mode, this game can very well have VR support too, and in VR ugly textures can maybe look even worse

I definitely hate, the jaggy shapes they use for all the architecture. The first game had a more "elegant" style which enhanced the creepyness imo, it gives it a sort of uncanny feel. The new games look like the spooky house at a fair.

Personally I completely disagree, From what we understand its going to be based in a hotel, and they have clearly based the look around an art deco design which was in many hotels around the 50's-60's and 70's. Involving many pastel colours, jagged edges, "futuristic" designs (such as the lamp you point out) and there was a huge love for painting woods with the mate finish. And the lack of textures and use of pastel oranges complemented with the neon teal lighting work extremely well with the art deco look. So all round the style and art design is perfect for what it is going for although it might not meet your tastes. EDIT: Although I do agree that its way to bright.

11:25 Luigi is considered tall in the Mushroom Kingdom. But since Odyssey we know that "actual humans" exist. Which are a little taller than him. Its also a hotel which could probably be in New Donk City. So the cleaning cart is for humans and their staff.

I agree with everything this guy says. This game should be a bit more horror like the first. I’m really into horror games. But I don’t think the hotel should be run down, i think the story involves Luigi and friends winning a trip to a fancy resort. They wouldn’t fall for this if the hotel looked run down. And I definitely agree they should add much more detail into the game. The original game was really dark, dark moon was kinda dark, and this game is hardly dark at all. The brightness levels need to be toned down. Hopefully Nintendo sees this video and takes some of your suggestions.

Depressed Idiot they can make the hotel look the fairest of them all in the intro, but then once they’re trapped in and in the actual game it can better look old and unstable, that way we can get the creepier hotel, and still make sense the how they fell for it. The ghosts, namely the Boos, are masters of illusion after all.

First of all, this game CLEARLY takes the dark moon style. AND, he is comparing this game’s FIRST trailer to the FINISHED original. If he would compare this trailer to the original at all, he should compare it to the first game’s trailer. Another thing, I feel like he nit picks things that are low-poly SPECIFICALLY for being low-poly when, again, THIS GAME ISN’T FINISHED. Like with the pizza thing, they’re low-poly because they aren’t the finished textures and models. On the topic of the pizza, the complaints about the “since 1983” thing make NO SENSE TO ME! @Squirrel No, I'm not comparing the texture difference from the original gamecube game, I'm talking about the texture difference from literally every Nintendo game from the past 10 years. You can look up *insert Nintendo game here* original trailer vs. final release and it comes clear that Nintendo and their partner Studios very much wait for even the last 6 months of development to actually go in and detail the texture. Maybe other companies think it's more important to focus making a game look as detailed as possible, but Nintendo has always put there money and time into Gameplay first and visual details second. Next, the reason Nintendo showed the game in early development is because they are tired of people harassing them all over the place saying that they don't care about *insert lower selling Nintendo series here* and aren't making games for the series. It's the whole reason they started to even announced games before they have any visual identity all together just to shut people up. Of course this back fired and just resulted in them getting loads of people demanding for a proper reveal trailer. I don't think they even wanted to show off Luigi's Mansion 3 when they did, the 2019 reveals in that Direct felt like very shoed in announcements just so they could get people to stop posting everywhere that Nintendo didn't show any 2019 games at E3 because they didn't have 2019 games. If you really believe in your "Nintendo shouldn't show a game until it resembles late development" then you should be going around telling people to stop complaining during E3 and Directs that Nintendo isn't showing games more than 4 months from release, because if it's anymore than that, then they aren't going to look anywhere near final release. Even Super Mario Maker 2's (which was shown 4 months from release and has a lot of simplistic older 2d graphics) original trailer has a bunch of less detailed and bland textures/sprites. especially when compared to the build people are currently playing at Demo events, which in itself isn't even the final version of the game. Rewatch the early gameplay segments of Breath of the Wild before 2016, a lot of objects have flat non detail textures in a very similar manner to Luigi Mansion 3. And remember, when they where showing that game off at that time it was supposedly almost 100 percent finished. It was revealed with star fox zero, and the first trailer/ demos for that game makes the final release look like Smash Ultimate. My point is, you can't say that Nintendo shouldn't be showing off games so early and then support people who complain when they aren't showing off all the games that are coming out the next couple years.

I games like this you want to make it your goal to make every detail like furniture that is not part of a puzzle as bland as possible, so the player can ditinguish between what is important and what isn't. While I really want these detail in there like dust and darker areas and older textures, it really hurts that they PROBABLY won't be changing this art style. The effects and details? Definitely possible. That zig-zaggy art style? Blegh unfortunately not. I see what they were going for but it's more of a cheesy purposefully spooky feel than a genuine old and grungy one. The overall first game, and more specifically the Mansion is still seen and referenced to this day, it’s a landmark, it’s the definition of a great Mario haunted house, unlike the Dark Moon ones that albeit different , they don’t really have much to be set apart from an average Ghost house. The original had so much more atmosphere that made it interesting and stand out from very much the main games easily, this art style is trying, but everything is so colorful and lacking in details that makes it bland, even with silly enemies that they don’t really know what they’re doing, just another whatever Mario game to me.

Watching this video made me sad, because I know these ideas, which I think are really good, will probably never make it into the final game. However, I didn't really think the game looked bad, the only thing I thought was needed was for the lights to be turned down, but your ideas are good nonetheless.

It didn't look bad to me to begin with but you did great work. One thing to consider is that it's an early teaser, and the game might have more detail when closer to release.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. Luigi’s Mansion was my favorite GameCube game growing up and one of my favorite games of all time. It saddens me how undetailed this game is compared to the original. Dark Moon had an excuse being made for the 3DS but it was still completely different from the original game. I couldn’t finish it. The grittiness and old ghost designs were what made the first game so great. Especially the gallery ghosts. The new standard ghost designs are very uninspired. I wouldn’t mind them as much if they mixed in some of the older iconic ghosts. I really wanna like this game. I hope Nintendo at the very least adds more detail and less lighting before the games release.

Great video, I agree with literally EVERYTHING. However, I think the final product will address most of these issues, such as lighting and better textures. Nintendo historically doesn't polish their games until the game is done. I have confidence that it will look like a different game by the time it ships. The biggest indication of this is Odyssey and Smash Ultimate. They both looked rather unfinished and in the span of a couple of months, it got hyper-polished. When we see this game at E3 this year, even then, it will still be unfinished and not fully polished yet. I don't doubt Nintendo anymore. But fantastic video, I always appreciate people who have a criticism and shows how'd they would do it instead.

I 1000% agree with absolutely everything! Tbh, I actually did not play Luigi's Mansion 3 yet bc of those reasons so I'm waiting until a mod comes out that fixes those issues + turn off the music in dark, creepy rooms. i instantly hated that.

I thing the rooms are bright because it's the start/tutorial of the game so there is no ghost, so the rooms are not dark.

In the first luigis mansion the first room you enter is pretty dark despite it being a tutorial so Im not sure why they couldnt apply that here as well.

It kinda looks like they might have started on the 3DS. The low poly and flat color aesthetic was understandable for the super-low resolution 3DS screen, but they shouldn't be enslaved to that art style anymore. I totally agree that the Switch title needs more detail and pizzazz. I like how you changed the lighting to be darker.

small tip i think would be great future advice, you should've started the video with about a 20 second clip of 8:26 to 8:49, where you point out a flaw in the actually chair cushion design, how bad it looks and show an improved version and switch back and forth for the comparison, most people agreed with you if they made it that far into the video but i think where most of your dislikes come from are from people who see the title, see the intro, dislike and then click off, but you have great points! earned my like and will definitely check out your other content!

With your skills and eye for detail, I really think you would excel in the game design world. Although I would say it is very hard to get into. I love how you appreciate little details in games (such as the new Yoshi game) and you know when there could be more added.

Wow these edits are so much better than the actual game. Which is sad for Nintendo. Though you did mess up the question mark on the block sticker on the suitcase. It should be flipped... this was meant to be a joke btw :D Anyway your pictures really do look better and the edits make a lot of sense. I prefer everything you did and said to what the actually game has. Nintendo should really hire you, not just for voices but also for art direction :D I don't know how much work edits like these take but I can imagine it's not easy so this shows real dedication on your part. Btw the rooms being too bright and Luigi still "needing" a flashlight reminds me of the fourth Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, which had scenes at night in the woods where the characters keep saying how dark it is, even though it's super bright and you can see everything :D
