it's not irony, it's a lack of creativity on hollyweird's part and trying to capitalize on an entire decade's worth of classic IPs that today's hacks are pathetically incapable of matching. those of us who were around then aren't the ones going to see reboots/remakes, we've learned our lesson well on that one, so they fail even on a nostalgia level.

@@RetroFan2.0 Because back in the mid 80's, "It's Miller Time" meant "Let's Party" or "Let's rock and roll". The same way nowadays people might say "Let's get it" or "Let's go!". You see, in the late 70's and 80's "It's Miller Time" was the catchphrase for Miller beer but then the saying became synonymous with wild n' out. It was in commercials and promotional posters and was in the lexicon of many Americans. Just go with it.

It astounds me when people ask simple questions on KZbin when they could just look it up themselves by doing a three-second search and getting an answer RIGHT AWAY. Instead, they ask "how so" and then have to wait hours, days, weeks, months, years, or maybe NEVER for a reply when they could just look it up themselves. I did a search of "It's MIller time" and in literally a few seconds it told me everything I needed to know. Like I said, truly astounding how lazy some people are... lol

"It's Miller time" goes back to the 70's as a Miller Beer ad campaign slogan. It was still a pretty common saying when I was a kid in the mid-late 80's, usually meaning it was time to party, relax, etc... with that context, it really wasn't a random, out of place pop culture reference.

I didn't care for 3 as much, that's the point the people working on them stopped caring and just started ripping off Romero. Still, its way better than "Necropolis" and "Rave to the Grave". How the hell do you shoot two movies at once and still end up with two movies that have almost nothing in common?
@AthenisKS81
@AthenisKS81 5 жыл бұрын
@@LibraGamesUnlimited When they basically had Borg in Necropolis I gave up caring and went in to mindless entertainment mode. I couldn't do that with Rave though, it was just too bad for even that low bar. But I think their plan had been to do what 1 and 2 did with the same cast but as different characters. It wasn't the best thing to try again, given that it was something in 2 that people didn't care much for. 3 is special to me I guess, it is the first one I saw and made me a big fan of Melinda Clarke. It felt more psychological with it having the parallel with depression and self harm. Temporary relief from the real problem, but it lasts less and less time the more it is done. Maybe I'm just reading too much in to it, I just thought her character was really well done. There's a pretty good documentary about them if you haven't it, called More Brains. They only do talk about the first 3.

I recently found out that a Detective Cameron action figure once existed. Unfortunately I don’t think it has a pull-string that allows it to say, “Thrill me!” and “It’s Miller Time!” Lol.

To be fair, I think the guy working in the morgue / research facility had entered in like 90% of the code before the phone rang, and J.C. just happened to punch in the right number to finish it. It's still a pretty contrived way to get them into a secure area so they can get their corpse-sicle, though. Also, I thought the "I love you" part was J.C. knowing he was a goner and trying to explain how much he cared about his best friend. Though unrequited love works, too.

I'm thrilled. (After this Review) By the way: Only now I noticed that the naked clubhead alien, which had blown the creeps into space at the beginning, had cloudy eyes (i.e. was already infested by the creatures themselves).

They thought they could escape. But they were tracked. And now those aliens are going to rid those creeps from existence, or capture them and rid them from our planet, for good. Hopefully that’s what they did anyway.🤞..

I just finished watching the In Search of Darkness-documentary before I saw this, and while there are plenty of great people being interviewed in that movie, Tom Atkins really left an impression of being a great guy next to being a great actor, talking about these roles with such joy that it really shows that he cared about them and horror-movies in general. A real class act.

That was the studio-approved ending that was shown in theaters because the executives, having NO clue how to sell the film, wanted to put a jump scare scene at the end. Knowing the film's narrative, it doesn't work.

Yeah, that's the ending I got the first time I saw this back in -86. It was the ending on VHS rental here in Finland. Was surprised later on, when I re-watched it on DVD and it had that other ending.
@Vamroc

Yup, studio fired Tim Miller after he refused to cut his two hour film down to ninety minutes then the studio hired a new director to make the edits & change the original ending but, Tim got the last laugh because the studio never bothered to secure the TV distribution rights so Tim bought them, and Tim was given the footage cut from his original version of the film because the studio saw it as garbage. So Tim took the footage the studio gave him, painstakingly restored his cut of the film AT HIS OWN HOUSE, because he had the TV distribution rights Tim made sure his version was the one that aired on basic cable and there wasn't a damn thing the Studio could do about it.

Did the film end with the detective all burned up and the cemetery, or with the girl bending down to pet the zombie dog and getting a slug shot at the camera for a jump scare ending? I've only seen the dog ending, so this was new to me.

@@Zafocaine The ending on this video was what the director originally wanted, but the studio replaced it with the dog shooting out a slug at Cynthia. Until the Blu Ray was released, the only way you could see the director's preferred ending was to catch the TV version, which also included a deleted scene of Cynthia and some sorority sisters making cookies, oblivious to slugs scampering around.
