I think it takes longer than a couple months for the fuel to go bad. Registered October, you have it a couple months later. I'm sure the fuel will be fine. Sometimes when I leave my scooter for a while it can be hard to start. Give it a rev and away it goes. My CB500X goes a bit longer between uses (6 months) and can start right up. Right now because of other reasons I have removed the battery. I don't doubt it will just fire up.

Thanks man! I think the clutch issue resolved in the part 2 video helped a lot. It was causing extra stress on the motor while idling, especially when the rear wheel was on the ground. Nice! Ive got a CM450c im working on as well. I'm pretty new to bikes so it definitely been a learning experience so far. Thanks for tuning in and commenting!

I just picked up an '86 for $1,000. I'm really excited to get going with the restorations and so I plan on watching through this series for some pointers. Mine definitely needs more work than yours but the engine feels nice and strong but is dirty as hell including the carb which is where I'll be starting after I get it back with new tires on it.
@TheBSRecord3 жыл бұрын
Nice pickup! hopefully these videos help you along the way. If you have the means, I suggest purchasing a chemical dip like "Chem dip" and fully take the carb apart. dip every components and replace all the gaskets, take your time. That should really help if the carb is super gummed up. Or look at a replacement carb online, my buddy is running one on his and it works great! Goodluck with your project!

Dude, what was the problem with the „cold getting on throttle ne it shuts down“? I have the same problem and I can’t figure it out. Whether it’s the carb or something else.
@TheBSRecord Жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, it was a mixture of 2 things. The bike just needed to warm up a bit before giving it throttle. Also, since the clutch nut had separated, the clutch was always trying to drive the rear wheel, leading to too much stress on a cold engine. Additional throttle would cause it to bog out. At least, that was my thought haha. Hope this helps!

I'm guessing $200-500? About to pick one up, same year for $500 with supposedly nose/front/plastic damage only & drives straight. Just googled helix repair & clicked on this, thanks in advance I hope! Edit: Just watched the rest of the vid & thank you, going to double check the front wheel on the Helix since that was the collision site on it. Are you having to cut or trim down those plastics? Curious how much detail is involved with putting the plastics back on the frame.

I got the kit from a website called webike(dot)jp. Look up the Honda Fusion and that will get you to a parts catalog for the Helix (fusion in japan). I ordered the kit way before the shipping crisis, so I'm not sure how much shipping would be for it today.
