Wow, thanks for another great Helix video. If you remember I've commented to you on your others ones since I am a Helix owner too having owned my pure red 1996 model with 22,000 miles since 2018 after I retired driving 800 lb monster 1500 & 1800 Goldwings back in 2004. I bought the Helix in good running condition but needing some overdue general maintenance performed so I replaced the whole CVT with all new genuine Honda parts with the exception of 21g Dr. Pulley sliders in favor of the stock 23g rollers, flushed and replaced all oil, brake, coolant & final drive fluids, replaced the tires, installed a new intake manifold, air filter and bystarter, I used Mobil 1 75-80W for the final drive fluid in place of multi weight motor oil, and don't forget to replace the fuel filter which is so many times overlooked but inexpensive to replace to always insure trouble free operation as I now consider it 100% road worthy without being hesitant to drive it anywhere. The body panels are all still showroom quality but I did opt to refinish my stock fading muffler with good results using high temperature Rustoleum 7778 Bar-B-Q black finish from Walmart and used a silver painted accent on the heat shield since I couldn't locate a stock chrome replacement one for the look I wanted, and it really looks awesome. I really appreciate your videos especially this one with several different areas being covered, I've been really a bit occupied lately but hope to begin doing my own videos starting late spring. Keep up the good work!

ONLY dealers recommend they sell you that oil. It is illegal for a maker to tell you "their oil" is any better because it is not. The service manual says Honda 4 stroke 10w40 SF, Sg or equivalent. All SN, SJ oils today are superior to those early oils from the 1980's in detergency, heat tolerance, pressure, anti corrosion etc.

Yes, press the foot brake really really hard! I had the same issue when I first got mine. I had to adjust the foot brake a little once it was freed up. The adjustment can be made under the main bottom middle plastics if I recall correctly. Google search the cn250 service manual, it should be in there. Hope this helps!

Nice! It's been a minute since I did it, but I think I had to drill the holes. It may have already had the cutouts for the bolts though, I don't remember. I do know there were two metal brackets that the bolts screwed into and it "sandwiched" the spoiler to the rear fairing. Hope this helps 👍

Did the new gasket help with the poppy backfiring on deceleration? I've been having the same problem with mine. Thanks!
@TheBSRecord2 жыл бұрын
Yup it helped a lot! It seems to be a pretty common issue with the helix. If the gasket doesn't help look at the air cut off valve on the carb. It may have pinholes in it.

@TheBSRecord3 жыл бұрын
Without seeing the bike or knowing it's true condition I'm not sure how it will do on that sort of trip. However, if it's in good working order, properly maintained, and we'll kept it should make that trip no problem. I would hop on my helix and ride it anywhere without thinking twice. You know that no motorcycle co. makes oil, and ANY auto 10w40 is correct. There is no wet clutch in scooters so don't be taken in by marketing. Valvoline 10w40 Max Life has one of the highest film strengths of any oil, higher detergency and seal conditioners as do the other max life type oils. This info is from an auto motive engineer who tests oils heated to operating temperature on a computer controlled Tribometer. SJ oils do range from 65,000 psi before metal to metal contact while others reach as high as 123,000 psi and all with the same classification of SJ. Wet clutch compatible oils are not at all needed in bikes that do not have wet clutches. The wet clutch problem stems from back when they reduced the clutch spring strength to attract more women to riding, it worked. Some guys restore the spring strength of their bikes and then don't have problems of clutch slipping on regular oil and not having to buy over priced "motorcycle" oil that has a viscosity index improver left out that can sometimes cause clutch slippage with the weaker lady springs.
@TheBSRecord3 жыл бұрын
Lots of good information here, thanks for sharing 👍 Honestly I don't know much about motorcycle specific oils, but I decided to go with what Honda recommended in the manual. Thanks for tuning in and commenting 👍
