I have a husky I bought him two years ago after my child passed away. I had done some research on the breed but I was sold on the fact that it’s not an aggressive breed. I had bought him for my surviving child who has special needs. Little did I know he would end up saving my life. After dropping my child off at school I would be all alone and its was as if he could feel my pain. I would cry so much and he would just lay next to me. I would try to just go back in my room and crawl into my bed but he would force me out. He would force me to get up, feed him and slowly start walking him. The next thing you know the days turned into months and the months into year. Every day got a little more bearable. I love my husky he saved me from myself.

As a owner of a siberian Husky I can confirm that my husky is the most atypical husky out there cause he does not do anything a husky would normally do. Super attached, can off leash him wherever I go, non destructive, very good with call back, and most importantly he is the ultimate cuddle buddy. Not sure what I did, but hey I hit the jackpot!

I’ve raised them all from puppies & yes there have been challenges, but they are my reason to get up (very early) in the morning & I love them more then life. Until my first husky I was a cat person, but huskies have a lot of catlike traits…guess that was why I fell so easily in love with huskies. Eight years ago, I saw an all white, blue-eyed 4 month old puppy coming off a yacht in Cabo San Lucas with a local deckhand. The next day the pup was mine. I initially thought he was a Swiss Shepherd having had Germans and Australian Shepherds in prior years. I took him straight to a vet and discovered I had a Siberian Husky pup. Surprise to me. Duh. Since then, he has been my constant companion. Although this breed does not do well in Mexican heat, he basically lives under an air conditioning vent on a marble floor 4 or so months of the year. We walk twice a day. He runs the beach in the early morning, and we walk together in the early evenings. He literally stops people in their tracks. Fun, easy, social, and very handsome, my sweetheart calls him a total "chick-magnet." Seven years later, a neighbor advised me there was a lost Siberian that had been run over. A local vet had helped this pure white Siberian pup of about 5 months old, with no way to know from where he came. By the end of the day, I had another pure white Siberian Husky with blue eyes. Geez!!! In Mexico. I forgot how much trouble raising a puppy was, but he is now about 18 months old and my two Huskies are completely bonded. The younger one is still bouncing around with puppy energy. I take them both out to eat a couple of times a week at one or more local bars and restaurants on the Cabo marina. Open to the water, and inviting to tourists, the restaurant staff immediately bring each dog a bucket of ice water and a chicken breast. The dogs are so friendly and sweet that the bar and restaurant owners on the marina compete to care for them as they attract tourists into their establishments. Dog lovers abound, and sweet dogs that are obviously very friendly and good-looking, are a treat for everyone.

I have my first husky when he was five weeks old.. we really bonded very well. He didn’t chew too bad, but he did choose some things. He really didn’t make very much noise like I hear some huskies. And when I asked him if he loved me, he would make the emotions. he would escape at times and it worried me because I always heard that Huskies would go and go and go and not come back.. I was blessed with him. I would try to get him back but he would go around the vicinity of my home, which is out in the country. But he would always come back to the yard and look at me, but tell me I’m not ready to come back yet. I was really glad for that. I started training him walking and he did very well. But because of shedding so much my husband wouldn’t allow him in the vehicle. So I got a very long long leash and I walked them around my property a few times and stuff and tried to get him exercise. Once I got a vehicle, I started taking him to the park and let him run around and play and I had a female husky and she was really good. She never chewed up anything ever. She had one blue eye and one brown eye, and she was kind of ready brown she would be beautiful. They would play good together. They were pretty behaved in the park. They always got along with other dogs and people. Then I let her have a puppy, but I made the mistake of letting the puppy be born right beside me and I slept there because I didn’t have a proper place for her ready. But she is really good. She really listens very well compared to the other two they never did. But she seems to be more scared of bigger dogs, and she loves to play with little dogs. I only have the little one with me now and we do lots together. Huskies are very different that’s for sure. I’ve had dogs. All my life but huskies are really different. ❤❤❤❤❤

I have a very rare - Lazy Husky. Actually and sadly she wasn't raised with puppies. No bark, No Sing, No Howling. She doesn't know she can jump. After a year together she finaly let me pick her up without fuss. I think thats because I caught her when she missed a step and started to fall backwards out of my truck. She has no interest in ball chasing. But she does try to catch Carp in the local pond. She has killed 5 muskrats, 1 rat, 3 moles this past year. She is very quick when she wants to be. She just doesn't want to often. A permanent 5 year old child. She does walk with other Huskys often in no-leash park areas but will not run when they do. Plush Coat and 4 dew claws. Rare and a pleasure to be with and take everywhere.

@@coleman19878 Not at all. Your new dog has been through a lot of trauma. Dogs have the same range of feelings that people do. She doesn't know you or her surroundings. Rescue dogs always require a great deal of patience at first. Keep in mind that she lost her home and the people she loved. It's going to be a few weeks/months before she feels comfortable. I am not a husky owner but I did own a dog and as part of his exercise routine we were part of a dog group that would meet every morning as part of their socialising at a local park. One guy there owned two huskies, both male and from the same litter, adopted them after the full required time to be separated from their mother, paid for their healthcare in the meantime while they stayed with their mother (he had a contract with the breeder). He worked from home, exercised them together and they were the most sociable dogs anyone in the group ever knew, very affectionate and could be let off the leash, play friendly with other dogs, and always returned when called. They were protective but not aggressive to their adopted family, especially the children. They were easily settled if the owner reassured them. You HAVE to be dedicated to them and their lives. I personally would not be able to do it the way he did, at least not until I retired or worked from home. I just know it would be cruel to do that. Always know your dog's likely temperament and whether you can dedicate the necessary amount of time with them before you adopt them.

We're on our 5th Siberian Husky since the 90s. (two right now, male & female currently 6yrs and 8 yrs respectively). This is a pretty accurate video although certainly individual dog personalities will vary. Our female is the most laid back we've ever had and she's actually a certified therapet through our local ARL which most Huskies can't do because they are two busy. Our male is more typical, once outside especially at first he's in "go" mode. When we're gone we let them have free run of the house and they behave fine. Indeed they do want to just be with the family and doing what you do. We do a lot of camping, they fit right in. We visit pet friendly stores shopping (Bass Pro, Lowes) are examples, they often come along. Go to a baseball game for a kid or in my case grand kid, they're content to sit by the lawn chair and watch the game. Huskies are truly in need of direct social involvement. Ours get two walks a day at least a mile each in length and that keeps them content. I feed them once a day typically, a mix of kibble (high quality), PetFresh chicken, turkey, salmon, etc., grated carrots, no salt green beans, or zucchini. The key is to watch over time for any weight gain or weight loss. The vet says you should be able to feel their ribs. Spoiling once in a while with a pup cup of ice cream is also greatly appreciated. Love and enjoy your Husky............. they're not for everyone but that's why God made many dogs lol, there's a breed for you out there.

Have two very happy Huskies (aka, Floofs) here, on tan/red and beige, and one grey and beige. I think this list is missing one very crucial things most people don't realize before the get a Husky--they 'blow' their undercoat at least once and mostly twice a year, and the fur gets EVERYWHERE. Invest in a really good vacuum cleaner and lint rollers, you're going to need them (Bissel is really good vacuum, and they also contribute to helping pets as well). I can't get mad at the dogs, it's how they are. They are also very good companions as they are more independent than other dogs. Our Jack Russell is way more obedient and conforming than the Huskies, as they like to run and play more than the Russell.

He is such a loving, friendly (sometimes overly so), needy, crazy boy that drives me to distraction sometimes. Couldn't be without him now though. Mt main concern is his eating habits. We have tried every brand under the sun, raw food, etc. but he will go lengthy periods without eating. Made the mistake throughout his five years of giving him human food, too many treats and cheese (his favourite, not the vets though). He got a clean bill of health at his last appointment (apart from Cheesegate). Can anyone advise please?? Spend majority of my time worrying about him. I'm aware Suberians can go up to 4 days without eating but it's always been a stressed fir me. TIA. x

That they are amazing my lil girl is so precious. She's not the rambunctious thing she was when lil now 4 yrs old nor do I really have to worry about her running off. But definitely has the separation anxiety she hates to be left alone. She's very well tempered & just an all out amazing dog all the way around

Just adopted a 1.7 year old Husky two days back. He is very calm, haven't left him even for a moment, but even with us around he cares less. Escape artist already got proof of that. Hopefully he will start thinking of us as his pet parents 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I have a husky as my first dog after spending 37 years terrified of all dogs. I have been bitten 5 times in total, 4 times as a small child. I got one to help with my fears. I can also let her off lead down at a dog walking hotspot. She doesn’t run away, she explores. If she sees another dog then she will go say hello, unless it’s a very small dog who barks all the time, then she will avoid at all costs, even if that means jumping over them. She is way more sociable than me!! I also cycle instead of walk. As a puppy she hated being alone at night while we went to bed so I started leaving our bedroom door open at night for her to freely wander around, this worked instantly and now I am able to close the bedroom door and she doesn’t care, she just sleeps in the living room. I also had a 4ft fence in my back garden and a 3ft one in the front garden. Both of which she never tried jumping and we concluded that was because she was already getting a ton of exercise each day, so she didn’t have a ton of energy left. High winds destroyed both fences and now, now our gardens are open plan style (at least until I can build new ones) while I’m working in the garden she stays in our garden. She will be cheeky and run around with upstairs neighbours dog when he comes outside. Treat them right and give plenty exercise. Just don’t expect them to be guard dogs! She loves everyone and I fully believe if people were to break into our house then she would help them steal of stuff then wave goodbye to them!😂😂😂😂

I never put my husky on a leash. He comes back 10 out of 10 times and heels when I tell him to. I tell him break and he gets to roam free until I tell him to come. Sometimes he heels without me telling him to. He's a very good boy and I trust him 100% and he trusts me.

Became an owner 2 months ago . My husband is home with her while I work . When he is making dinner or working fixing cars in the garage she runs the yard. It has been really hot here in Philly so he doesn't leave her out long. BUTwhen I come home she has chewed up something of mine. Nobody else's things just mine. But I love her took me 50 yrs to finally get her. Had all other breed dogs that people got rid of when they were old. Thanks for the tips.

I trained my huskies and they listened well when i would let them free in the backyard. They don't run away if they have learned their boundaries. We walked them 2x per day or took them for long hikes. They just take a little longer to teach than other dogs because they're not a needy type of dog.

Dont take this advice! Huskies can be fine for yrs....and then one day go after a deer or rabbit and get far and lost if not hit by a car. Fenced areas or on leash only. You WILL NOT train the prey drive out of a husky

My grandson lives with us decided I needed a dog since my 13 year old boxer/pit passed from cancer October 2023. He went to the humane society and came home with a year and half Siberian Husky. I had no idea!!! Of course I love him . He has chewed the kitchen baseboard the corner of our entertainment center books boots and a watch. I walk him twice a day and take him to Home Depot. He loves it! I haven’t had a clean floor since getting him and have just come to terms with that. Would I get another?? I’ll take the 5th on that.

I’m an owner of a Siberian Husky, and she is a wilddddddddddd dog alright but now she’s just laying around on her bed, her name is Bella, she likes to go outside and she likes to run around and be silly she loves playing catch with us outside too! (Btw she really loves laying on her bed too😂) she likes naps, she always wants to go outside just to play with sherbet, (our cat) she will whine and cry to get to sherbet lol we keep her on a tie out while we are outside, her tie out leash is wrapped around a stump in our yard, and we will hook her up on that leash (so she doesn’t run away) she has escaped many times before but we got her! Thankfully 😅 so yeah we don’t take her out many places she will just stay in her room while we are gone, she really love to get our things (she just had my pants😭)😂 anyway she goes outside everyday she has her collar on, one time we took her to a park but she had a blue collar on…. And someone came up to us and we told them her name was Bella …. The lady told her dad …..”HIS name is Bella” … I was mad but didn’t show it … we kept correcting her but she said “he” I did not like that…but still didn’t show it, they thought she was a boy just bcuz of her collar……💀 and so now she has a pink and black collar on so people now get her gander correct 😅 hope you enjoyed this about Bella❤

I'm a Husky owner . I agree with everything in the video. My Memphis is never off lead on our daily walks . Can't trust him as we walk in a national trust park with deer in the park . But with my garden . Memphis is so good . Never digs holes in my well kept lawn . Not disstructive in any way . He sees me looking after my garden. Im sure he knows 😂. On our daily walks he is on a extended lead half way through our 90min walk . Then a short lead then he walks close to me . He knows what he has to do . But easily distracted 😅😅

My view is if your husky isn’t talking, it means he’s happy and has nothing to complain about lol. Mine was the same until intruders tried to jump our fence. She woke us and the entire neighbourhood and probably gave then a good scare not realising that our silent guard dog was waiting for them.

I have a neighbor who recently got a husky puppy, and she is breaking my heart every day. She is a working mother of 4, and I've never seen a man or like a husband around. Seems she puts the dog- Hero out on a 4' tieout when she leaves for work, and leaves him out all day till night. About the first month the kids would play in the yard shared with 5 other tenants. Lately like 3 months I have noticed they don't even check on him after school or come out to play with him. I don't see her taking any walks as I'm home all the time practically. I've been checking to see if he has water, and she has a cats size bowl of water, but when I look there is none in the bowl for the rest of the day. So I took him for a walk one day while she was gone now she won't even answer the door to talk about anything at all, and I just wanted to walk him again. During the day the baby sitter has another dog that barks constantly. She takes him in at night atleast, but I think Hero might be destructive. She may not be abusing him, but definitely it's neglect, and my boyfriend and I talked to her when she got the puppy she said she paid 500. For him, and would take 200. That we can't afford, but I definitely can't stand seeing Hero on that really short tie out, and I think she got him free just to make a dime. Is there Anything or any associations I can call to report this to? I really don't want to call the police.

Our husky is not clingy but she does like being around some kind of company. She has an Aussie Mini for a constant dog buddy and likes to spend time with the family and loves visitors. Other than her little buddy she dislikes small dogs and cats. She is fine with pretty much any other animal. Very calm but her will is really strong and when she wants to resist she might as well be a mule. She is my favorite blondie. Red and white but as she has gotten older her coat has gotten more of a golden shade. She has always been relatively happy but we have tried to always maintain a large yard, kennel space and give lots of exercise.

I have a Siberian husky 11 week old pup. Dog parents I need some advice. I am crate training. I need help with harness training and understanding certain signals. She is a sweet girl. I just want to make sure I am raising her right. Any suggestions for dog training? 😊
@SafetyScout7 ай бұрын
When you give a verbal command or cue, match it with a different hand signal just for that cue. Only other thing I can think of is that my husky was trained to come without a command-just a special whistle sound that I made myself with my voice (not an actual whistle). I would whistle or say his name in the same whistle pattern and he would always come. He could hear that pattern over long distances if needed.
@jerrydonquixote5927 Жыл бұрын
One thing you forgot to mention is when you have a husky you have to establish dominance I've never had a dog that I had to do that before until I got this husky but it wasn't too hard. First I crate trained him but after he learned that I wasn't abandoning him now I don't even think about it he has free roam and he's very well behaved. Also in the beginning he ran away like you say but finally talking to him and show him that I would let him run now he runs and comes right back to me it makes me really proud! They're definitely not the kind of dog you want to leave abandon out in the yard or in your house Works eight hours alone they need more of your companionship than other dogs that patiently wait at home for you. Almost gave up I'm out in the beginning and now I'm so glad I didn't he turned out to be a wonderful dog!❤

That is bullshit advice. 'Establish dominance' that is the best way foe a husky never to trust you. They are very sensitive almost like an autistic child. If u need that level of afirmation, get a Lab
@jerrydonquixote5927 Жыл бұрын
@Williams-sn6wh there's a lot of Huskys that need to be rescued, check and see in your area. I hate when I see on Facebook when they're going to put one down in a few days. I try to ask around and see if anybody wants them, there's a lot of abandoned Huskies! I sure love mine he's my first Siberian Husky and I don't think I'll ever get anything else if I outlive him.
When i got my First Husky I fed him Iams I never had any issues problems with Iams now my First Husky Balto passed away this year. I gotten Balto since 2013. now i have another Husky Puppy often times my Husky is a Grazer he or she eats if she wants wants to eat also she has Food and Water Bowls in the Kitchen and in her Crate in case she's hungry do you have an opinion on Iams food or other food?
