I think you are getting stuck on the fact that Mazda vehicles have historically been much cheaper. However, that was before Mazda started taking its vehicles up market. You can't compare this Mazda3 to a Civic, Corolla...or even any previous Mazda3 because this car is out of their league. I'm just confused by his price criticism. A Mazda3 with the turbo has a lot more power than any Civic at remotely the same price point; the only Civic that is faster (or remotely as fast) is the Type R at ~$47k, which still doesn't have AWD. For a more apples to apples comparison, a Mazda3 with the 191 hp NA engine and AWD comes in at only $1800 more than the FWD-only Civic hatchback hybrid with 200 hp. The basic FWD-only Mazda3 hatchback with 191 hp is $2400 less than the basic Civic hatchback with 150 hp. I just don't see any combination of features that would make the Civic less expensive than a similarly-equipped Mazda3.

I hear this complaint alot but on paper it seems to be comparable to similar cars. It's only a gallon less than a Civic but I guess that is 30 miles more. Personally I don't think it would bother me but I also rarely take long trips or have a long commute. My ride to work is curvy back roads and I think this would be fun to drive. Love the channel. I am seriously considering this car. I would respectfully suggest that I love that there is no touch screen. Touch screens are always covered in fingerprints and look nasty. To speak to the price, I agree, it is unreasonable. However, when you look at what you get for lesser price points, the features and fit and finish justify the price in my opinion of course. When you buy the best, you only cry once. ;)

Well said! Price wise, a bit on higher side, but you get a lot more nicer interior/exterior, simplicity and better driving dynamics. I have compared other brands and they all try to add a turbo and reduce the engine size which I absolutely hate and most of the interiors are lots of plastic and unnecessary toggles and buttons. I just switched to Mazda and love not having touchscreen (though technically it's a touch screen and I enabled it). I have some friends who can't stop messing with the touchscreen constantly thanks to their ADHD/OCD/Electronic Addictions. I so much appreciate people not trying to distract/annoy me when I'm driving by changing settings on a long drive. And the screen stays clean. I don't miss touchscreen at all.

I enjoyed it so much, I will buy the turbo premium plus @ $36k in about 5 months. I'll be moving near my son in the mountains in a few months. The AWD with good all season tires, is superb in the snow. I also own a 2021 CX5 signature but gonna trade that in when the new, 2024 CX70 comes out in the summer of 2023. I opted for a naturally aspirated FWD model at a high trim level for $10k less. 191 horsepower is plenty enough for this car and I have no utility for AWD in Arizona. Turbo + AWD is absolutely not worth $10k for me. I still have the red leather with every feature. Oh and I didn't mention the best part: manual transmission. Manual is only offered on NA FWD models. AMD, When we look at the high price we have to acknowledge that Mazda, at least, told everyone they were becoming a 'near Premium' brand. Honda just jacked up their prices without telling anybody. In regard to the engine, if you put the turbo motor from the Highlander into the Corolla, I bet it would be fast too. 😉
@aaronjackson44972 ай бұрын
This reviewer is out of touch with current new car pricing. He thought the 23k starting was "high also". In reality, Mazda 3 is very price competitive with current pricing, and 37k for the very top model is reasonable. The Corolla does have a fast version, the GR. It's more boy racer than the turbo Mazda 3, but the base GR Corolla is similar price to the top 3, and the 3 is definitely more refined and luxurious.

I got the top trim 2019 hatchback model for around $19k (24k with our tax) Canadian dollars, which was an amazing value when I got it two years ago. I switched from an Acura RDX and do not regret it one bit. Plenty of cargo space, great handling, decent MPG (I think my avg now is 32MPG driving it for 2 years). I love the look of it but I know that's more personal preference. If I had to complain about anything it's the lack of seeing your Blindspot due to the huge c-pillar beside the rear seats but luckily the blind spot detector is there to help with that weakness. Also found the Bose speaker system really nice in that car and the outside noise is also pretty quiet compared to other cars in this price segment. He bought it in October 2020 with 10k miles and it has 23k now. Mechanically it’s been perfect. Did have to warranty the sun visors cause they lost tension, which were replaced for free at the dealer, and the automatic light sensor acts up on hot days - which is a common problem for the 2019 3s. Unfortunately, the dealer has refused to deal with the light sensor when we’ve asked them to replace it. They pull the old no codes = no problem and no reason to replace garbage.

I get that the market for this car, and the trim specifically, is small but it does provide a great value to someone who is looking for a luxury (almost), refined and sporty experience at the same time. It just depends on your perspective. You mentioned cars like Lexus UX which doesn't even come close to the power and sportiness this car offers. Only thing it has going for it is the Lexus brand name. I'll say it again, for the exact kind of experience this car offers, there's no other car in this price range. You'll have to spend 5-10k more atleast to get a similar experience. Also, why would cross shop this car with any of the SUVs at all? If you're looking at this type of car, it's clear that generic SUVs are not the experience one is looking for. Sportier alternatives do exist in this price range but they are not as luxurious, nowhere close. So there's a trade-off you're making on that front. Another thing, the Turbo trims (which are all nicely specced) start from around 30-31k. You don't have to go all the way to 37k. I don't think that's a high price at all for a luxurious sporty AWD car.

No hoses, even, just a few o-rings and a stretch drive belt, and you're done. It's actually DIY for most folks. Compare that to the astronomical cost of replacing the pump on ANY vehicle with the valve train-driven water pump!

We have a 2022 Carbon Sedan as a long term tester. We grow more impressed with it everyday. The non turbo engine is the best non performance version power train available in the compact segment.

We bought a 2024 Mazda 3 Preferred Hatchback and love it. It's not turbo but has a lot of get-up-and-go for us! It has everything else that is seen in this video but was only $29,000. Yes, that's still a lot of money but we wanted the moonroof and other options not included in the base model. Great review, thanks!

I agree with this content these upper level trim AWD cars are nice although very expensive, We ordered a 22 Mazda 3 S and took delivery for $23.5k (MSRP) it's a lower level trim although it came with aluminum wheels, dual exhaust tips, adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, rain sensing wipers, apple car play, auto parking brake, etc, it was purchased as a second car we love it and believe its a great value, we wasn't looking to break the bank!

Two things that in my mind justify the price: 1 - Mazdas are made and assembled in Japan / so the quality control is pristine. Can't say that for Honda or Toyota - assembled in the US. And cars assembled here are never of the same detail and quality control. So I would pay that premium. 2 - my wife had an older Mazda 3 - and the car was literally bulletproof. Never a single issue. As she says " that was the best car I ever had " / and she has had many. So it's subjective.

I am considering to get an AWD Premium trim. Which is still a bit pricey, 36k including tax and all. But i feel it will be worth it for long term ownership

Nowadays, car market is crazy. A guy at my work bought a Sport Civic sedan for $30- 31k. So when u compare this to the Civic is not so pricey.

I owned a 2021 hatchback turbo, but not the highest of the trims. I got the other turn trim and I loved it. For 32-34k I don’t think there’s a better option. I’m actually buying another one next week because I sold it and realized I made a huge mistake. I miss my Mazda every day.

To be honest an AWD turbo at that price is the only option. It offers just a tad more performance with way more refinement than a Civic SI however not quite in the big leagues of the Type R. I actually think Mazda fits nicely in between.

@@Michael-ur5qb Sad you can't get AWD stick though. Just FWD, booking a test drive Fri but financing is terrible since the gov printed a trillion lol... My Micra was 1% at launch
