I love sequoias, but the 3rd gen doesn’t cut it for me. Don’t get me wrong they all look great. The 3rd gens aggressive sharp angles looks awesome. But I like 1st and 2nd gen more. I love the 2nd gen the most because of the leg room (roomier over all) , spacious “trunk” especially for a large stroller, and not having to fold the 2nd row seats with a car seat attached and still have plenty of room to get into the 3rd row is great. Also adults can fit more comfortably in the 3rd row and not have to worry about their knees being more “into their chest” because the battery is located under them. That’s just my thoughts on it.🤷🏽‍♀️

I have the SR5 premium with the TRD sport package. We have 3 kids 5 and under and put all 3 carseats in the 2nd row. I would not get this vehicle if you have more than 2 kids and are relying on putting one in the 3rd row as it does limit storage space quite a bit. We have a condo in the mountains and often take trips there and have no problem with storage with our existing layout. The bench seat is plenty big and can comfortably sit 3 adults if needed. For me, the Limited with all the fix-ins and bench seat is probably the best value and most useful. Other than storage, everything else about the truck is amazing.

For a pretty large vehicle the interior space is lacking. Originally planned on getting it but skipped. Maybe a larger wheel base can solve the battery pack issue and the space.

Keep the looks, redo the rest of it! Bring back the roll down rear window and normal rear storage situation (so my dog doesn’t have to sit in a Tetris board) ….and I’d rather have the V8 if I’m gonna get 17mpg anyway.…at least make it PHEV so it at least offers something the V8 didn’t for all that complexity.

Great video! Thanks for pointing out the specific cons. Yeah, I don’t like how the middle row isn’t adjustable at all like its previous models. And I don’t understand why there’s only 3 suitable car seat spots in this vehicle, doesn’t make sense at all, but it looks like they’ve followed the same course as the earlier models on that too. And the 3rd row leg room is definitely higher up on the legs versus the earlier models. I’m guessing it’s higher up because of the battery underneath. Definitely not comfortable for the legs! And we have a dog, so the back not folding flat is awful too. Thanks again for saving me $80k. 😂

I love my 23 tundra TRD Pro, but this vehicle is just a bad design for families with stuff. Tahoe or expedition seem more practical. Thanks Kelley for reviewing this so as to make a more informed decision.

This may have been the biggest disappointment I have experienced in the past two years. I was excited to see this refresh and as you said, it looks great from the outside, but as soon as you get inside everything goes down hill. You listed off a number of features that *ought* to be inside this vehicle. And you pointed out something I didn't even know, which is that the 2nd row seats don't slide for and aft. For me, where it completely crashes and burns, is inside the rear hatch. This is apparently mostly due to lack of an IRS.

Kelly you don't have to be timid with your opinion. I can tell you have ptsd from reading comments from the Toyota fan boys. Toyota makes a great car. For example they nailed it with the new Lexus GX. But if you have kids and need a family hauler with trunk space this new Sequioia is a fail.

You can move the shelf to match the folded seats floor so it is levelled in the trunk when the 3rd row seats are folded

I used to want this Sequoia SO BAD. But after being realistic about this car versus the Telluride I got. I’m much happier with the Telluride. The Sequoia is just way too overpriced and not enough space for all my crap 😂 I’d probably love it more in another lifetime aka if I didn’t have little kids.

Sequoia is weak as a family car, especially when compared to a Telluride or Palisade. Just the creature comforts alone and space inside the kia/hyundai already kills the Sequoia. The only thing the Sequoia has over it is the Toyota badge. You made the right choice if you wanted a family vehicle.

i remember everyone hyped up this new gen Sequoia. Now that its out, sales are weak and its no surprise. Interior is dated compared to other manufacturers. And 3rd row is a JOKE. As a family vehicle, this thing FAILS. Just get a Tundra if you want an offroad, rugged, etc You cant have your cake and eat it too with this if you wanted to double as a family car. Sure it will look cool, but long drive road trips, and this is weak.

I want to LOVE the New Sequoia regardless of the trim level but I feel like it's just a massive fail for price and practicality. I have 2x small kids and essentially it comes down to being a 4 seater with an unusable 3rd row. I WISH I could spec one with a bench middle seat and NO 3rd row especially with how the truck is and rear seats fold due to the hybrid battery. I can't imagine an 80k truck with NO heated rear seats and starting at 62k it has cloth seats. Toyota low key charges for a million options. The review is spot on... I would even entertain a SV Newer Armada. Sure it's not as good at MPG but it's a large SUV and has much more usable space IMO and is 20k cheaper.

There’s a reason you don’t see these often on the road, nobody wants one. Kelly points out all the reasons why. Everyone buying this for its “reliability” will probably be ashamed to find out it has the most complicated and expensive drivetrain to repair while being the least practical. Do your research everyone, and good luck in your car search! (This one is a FLOP)

Relatively speaking, a naturally aspirated V8 like you get in the Tahoe has many less touch points to go wrong than this V6 turbocharged hybrid monstrosity. I can’t wait for all the Toyota lovers to try and hang on to these for 200k+ miles.

I driven Toyotas in and off for the better part of 25 years. This is a complete swing and miss. The sticking of that hybrid battery in the back completely destroyed any useful functionality. You can’t put a dog cage in it. I was in a Yukon, the other day. I could’ve fallen asleep in the passenger seat for 150 miles and that thing it has so much usable rear seat and trunk space it’s ridiculous. Sorry but the Sequoia is nowhere near competitive to the GM triplets. It’s not even close as far as the usual reliability you can drive this car for 300,000 miles blah blah blah most people aren’t driving their cars for 100,000 miles anymore let alone 300,000.
