How amazing that God, from the cross, gave us His mother, shared her with us. This woman who courageously, humbly, & lovingly carried Him in her womb, taught Him to walk & talk, taught Him, in His humanity, the love of God from the Law & the Prophets. Once she taught Him what she could, she then became His student, loving Him & by His side all the way to the cross, where He gave her to us.🙏❤️

There is no one closer to Jesus than His mother. Jesus cannot refuse his Mother anything. When we petition Mary to pray for us it goes straight to Jesus. He hears our prayers to her from her. How much more can we be confident that Jesus will hear our petitions. Thank you Jesus and Blessed Mother; pray for us.

Loved this episode that reminded us of many good things like how Mother Mary was and is with the Lord from the beginning till now. How Jesus made us adopt the children of Mary when He said "See your mother". The analysis of Hail Mary and Ave Maria was great too. Mary is indeed full of grace due to her obedience and God's plan for her. The reminder of how we unite our faith with Mary when praying and not prioritizing Mary over Jesus. We ask her to pray for us as well while we are also directly praying to God and Jesus. Thank you so much for this, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. I'm praying for you and for the fellow listeners. Mary is our model and also our Mother, a very unique distinct member of the Church. She brings us to the Lord Jesus Her Son. Mary was present to every moment of our Lord's life on earth, from her conception to Jesus' death on the Cross. The moments of quiet & joy, power & healing, success & desperation, grief, loss and injustice. Mary is also with us in these moments of our life. To love Mary does not mean that we love Jesus less. By asking Mary to pray for us in the prayer Hail Mary/Rosary (which are scriptural) we unite our trust, fiat, confidence, and gratitude to hers. Beautiful Fr, as you slow down, one can only feel the deep meditation going on here & draws the participant into it. This is awesome as we bring ourselves to Our Lady on this today after the feast of the Immaculate Conception & today being Saturday, the day dedicated to Our Lady. Our prayers through Our Lady to the Lord are so powerful. What can be offending to the Lord if we pray to the Lord when in actual fact we are responding to His instruction on the Cross, here is our mother & yes our mum. What a precious gift. Hi y’all 👋 Happy day 343. 🙏❤️ I’m going to try to go to vigil Mass today. It’s Sharing Sunday when we bring wrapped gifts to be distributed to families who can’t afford gifts. I wasn’t up to shopping this year so I had my daughter pick up a $25 Walmart gift card because those are greatly needed also. It’s a beautiful sight when at the offertory everyone bringing gifts carries them to the front to be placed around the altar platform (not sure what it’s called). By the end of the 5th Sunday Mass it’s quite impressive. I would think most parishes did something similar.

December 9, 2023 Do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

When being grilled by Protestant friends, I ask them to define the word, pray. They look at me and keep talking. I then say to them, Pray means to beg, to ask, to ask a favor. I ask then whom was the queen during the reign of Kings n Judah and Israel. Again a dumb look! I am not a college or even a High School graduate. I have work with a Protestant Mission Organization, YWAM. Most of the young members do not know that YWAM worked with the Catholic Church in Central and South America in the 70's. I reverted in 2011.

So true! They don’t realize that they too are co-mediators. When you point it out then they claim that they’re alive whereas Mary & the saints are dead. I have to remind them of what Jesus told the Saducees & remind them Jesus was seen talking to Moses & Elijah, one living & one “dead” Saint.

I refer to Uzzah who simply touched the ark of the covenant, and was struck down as a result. I don't know why many of our Protestant brothers and sisters think it is somehow ok to deny her virginity. It should be unthinkable for what is set aside for the sacred can be used for the profane. Imagine Fr Mike using the chalice to drink his coffee?

@@jamesmcgrath3841 I’ve been talking to my daughter, she’s my only daughter & oldest of 3, for years about the Church, especially the Eucharist & the Blessed Virgin Mary. She finally understands about praying the rosary & how the Hail Mary helps one concentrate on the mysteries. I’ve even told her of insights I’ve had on the mysteries while praying them. She’s not there yet on the Eucharist. I’ve asked her what’s holding her back & she says mainly the hierarchy. She’s very suspicious of the Pope & bishops & this current turmoil just feeds her distrust. I try to show her this turmoil isn’t new, but the Church always pulls through stronger than ever. We’ll see.🤷🏼‍♀️😔🙏❤️

I am a new Catholic of about 4 years and I just finished the Bible in a Year after completing The Catechism in a Year. Both are beautiful and Fr. Mike Schmitz brought it to life for me and explained so many questions I had as a Protestant . Meditating on The Rosary is how I start everyday. I need to because my stressful job is working with children in trauma. With hand drums, I use rhythm and rhyme to teach, regulate emotions and behavior. I create children songs and videos. Father Mike inspired me to create videos using the same technique with The Rosary: Drums and Binaural beats.
