Robert, you are refreshingly right. As a retired priest, I can tell you that many bishops are manager, not Apostles. They avoid anything controversial and want to stay under the radar screen of Rome. Sound doctrine and morals are not of major importance to them. Many are poorly catechized themselves. Priests who have zeal fo souls and insist on the faith are cancelled and retired early. Priests who want power, without zeal for souls, who do what they are told, become bishops. It's like that in US, also.

My heart sunk when I heard the Vatican kicked Msgr Rey to the curb just as he did with our beloved Bishop Strickland from Tyler, Texas.. I agree with you that this gentle Bishop has had so much zeal in restoring priestly vocations in his diocese. That was a beacon of light for us in other vacuous regions in France starving for holy priests to keep our churches open. . In the Aveyron diocese here, we would have given anything to have had a kind, gentle Bishop who welcomed seminarians with open arms and stuck by them during their being put on hold for years like pawns by the Vatican. To the popesplainer commenter who gave PF the justification for this and what other harsh actions of punishing and humiliating other Bishops and clergy who are seeking to preach and teach the absolute moral truths to the laity that has been secularized by Rome and the Hierarchy, these, such as Bishop Strickland, Archbishop Vigano, Cardinal Burke, Cardinal Zen, Cardinal Sarah, Cardinal Mueller, to name a few, in my opinion, are courageous white martyrs who stand up for the one true and apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ. I pray for these good men of God that are like St. John the Baptist who spoke up loudly in his defense of our Lord at the risk of losing his head. The Vatican has become a bullying pulpit with a malfeasance dictatorship spirit from the top down as they spew and gag us with their synodality false ape church teachings just as Archbishop Fulteen Sheen in his time so prophesied. PF's decisions under his own 'zero tolerance' mandate full of hypocrisy and for those who are defying his position is backfiring as these good prelates and clergy keep finding a greater and louder unified voice of Truth that resonates more and more with us the faithful laity. " You will know them by their fruit." We are in an immense spiritual battle today for saving souls for Our Lord, prying them out of the wretched hands of the devil. For me, the crisis in the priesthood, is a sign of the times we are living in, and I believe we are living the Book of Revelation now. I was saying to my pastor this morning, that when we pray for vocations to the priesthood, in the same breath, we should be praying for the protection of the pre-born. Catholics need to recognize there are other sins, besides abortion, and (4) lavender clergy are promoted, while holy priests are ignored or worse.

You ask: Where are the young people? One answer is at the Latin Mass, although only in small numbers. At the Latin Mass that I attend, the median age of the congregation is under 30. The church is served by Oratorian Fathers, and they had an ordination last year and three novices. So that particular parish should be well supplied with priests for a good number of years.

I am a priest involved in délivrance ( I am a french canadian) and I was put aside in my own diocèse so I had to move somewhere else. I lived in France for four years as a Monk and can tell you that the problem is Universal. I remember what Saint John Marie Vianney did: sit in front of the blessed sacrement and pray. If I would not do this, and pray the Rosary, I would be very afraid that when I will meet the Lord he would say to me: I do not know you! Latin Mass is not dividing, the Novus Ordo is, that's the new liturgy they introduced that made everything optional. Division does NOT come by people who want to attend reverent liturgy for stronger faith. Like the original commenter said it used to be the same mass everywhere in the same language wherever you went in the world, universal they way Jesus wants it. We look together with the priest to God, he doesn't turn his back to God. And instead of some modern music the silence is central in worship, for contemplation. Good reverent Novus Ordo's do exist but it's just not as good if we are honest.

The fact of my je matter is Strickland is a fruit loop. He violates other bishops authority by showing up in their diocese and conducting a prayer service in opposition to the one the actual Bishop of the diocese was leading, he refused to implement directives from the Holy See, read letters from sedevacantists with no correction publicly, and has said things implying the Pope is illegitimate for at least the past two years. He isn’t terribly bright and he is t a good bishop. I know people who worked in his chancery who Rome me he created a cult like environment in the diocese.

It does not make sense. It is not catholicism to go against the visible church and create an imaginary one. There have been crises before also liturgical.

The average American bishop is a poser with a crosier. Certainly prayed for the good bishops.But even more pray for those who seem to have lost their faith.That god sends them the grace to be zealous faithful shepherds
