Unfortunately our Bishop has stopped girls from being altar servers and a once active family has started attending a Protestant church instead. I feel bad for this family, but I wish they understood what they are missing out on.

Being an altar boy is a gateway to the priesthood. Only boys should be acolytes. We need priests too much to let girls play altar girl. There should be another role for them, though.

As a child, I used to say mass to my dolls and stuffed animals. I really wanted to be a priest, but. I wasn't allowed to and I wish so bad that I would have known that I could have been a priest if I'd have been an Episcopal priest, but I didn't know And that's a shame.

The church of Christ is God's bride, a female. This is why priest are men, women priest become lesbians if they became priests. This has nothing to do with the church excluding women, that's nonsense. This why we have nuns, it's a beautiful vocation. While only pagans have priestesses, the Church has always had deaconesses. There's a statue of a sainted deaconess on the wall of Albi Cathedral in France. One of St John Chrysostom's friends was a deaconess whose statue is in St Peter's Square. St Phoebe the Deaconess, who delivered St Paul's Epistle to the Romans, is specifically named in the Bible. The Armenian Apostolic Church, which Rome recognises as having valid orders, has always had deaconesses.

It's not that women are not suited, not exactly. 1. Christ told his disciples to go to far away places and preach the good news. Back then and for most of history it was dangerous to travel. Bandits, slavers, and such. Not safe. Less safe for a woman. 2. Women were not taken seriously. It would have been ineffective for a woman to have leadership roles. 3. Women have babies, and they need the time to care for an infant as only a (nursing) mother can. A priest needs to devote their time to their job, which is not a 9 to 5 gig. And a bunch of other reasons.

Women cannot become priests because when Jesus chose his disciples these people were all men while women were support group of these disciples. As we go back to the Book of Acts, mostly who spread the word of God were all from our disciples during the early Christian Church.

I still think it's bs that the Catholic church doesn't allow women become priest. I have not heard one valid argument as to why. This is one of the biggest reasons that I will NEVER go back to the Roman Catholic church.

As a practicing Catholic woman I feel that there are so many roles available to women in the Church. That is something converts to Catholicism mention that they like about the faith. Just because I will never be a Priest doesn't make me a less important part of the Church. Also we have no authority to change what Christ clearly established when He was walking the Earth. Also I Hope one day you will be at peace with the teachings of the Catholic Church. I Hope you come back home to Rome.

You have to interpret the Bible for the time it was written. Yes, Jesus was very inclusive with women but in order to spread the word, he knew that society would have a difficult time with women in leadership as a disciple spreading God's Word. The Church is currently not working with just fine. People are leaving in droves, the Church cover up and defense of child abusers severely tarnishing the image and faith people have in the good priests. If women were in leadership, I believe the sex abuse scandals would be dealt with much differently. Women tend to be nurturing and protective of children where men are more defensive and combative. It's time for women to be priests. They are equals. The Church is way too focused on genitalia.

I avoid Masses where I know they have altar girls. It's distracting and in my mind a little silly not to mention they are intruding on a space traditionally meant for men and boys. The young boys who are learning to assist the priest will not 'be themselves' if girls are around. If we want to form priests we need to allow them male only spaces. Girls are invaluable in other parts of the church.

Amen. When I did not know if there was a god, Mother Mary lead me to Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Jesus Christ is King of the Universe. A billion Catholics celebrated the solemnity on 24 November 2024. Since Jesus is King, Queen Mother is Queen of the Universe.
