सर जी अभी तो tender documents भी तैयार नहीं हैं। उसे फ़ाइनल करते करते सालें लग सकती हैं। पहले expression of interest होगा फिर selected parties को final bidding documents दिये जाएँगे फिर उनका विश्लेषण होगा। फिर negotiations वग़ैरह होते साल- दो साल लगेंगे, फिर bid finalisation जब होगा तब यह अफ़वाह फैलेगा कि पक्षपात हुआ है। तब सब process रूक जाएगा और सरकार को investigation करवाना पड़ेगा। यह सब बहुत सालों तक चलने वाला क़िस्सा है जिससे हम पहले से परिचित हैं। अब एक ही तरीक़ा है यानी कि अपना इंजन बनाने की क्षमता शीघ्रातिशीघ्र प्राप्त करना।

There was a time that GE with Jack Welch as CEO was legendary in America, but now GE cannot even deliver a basic engine. How much is this a GE problem or inability of Americans to get anything done. Look how Boeing is failing badly with astronauts stranded in space. If you going to deal with US, talk to SpaceX or Andruil. They might be unconventional , but sometime that’s what is needed to get things jump started. HAL needs to be reformed and multiple players needed.

HAL is the root cause of the problem. 35 years to develop Tejas when Marut was already developed and HAL blamed the airforce for changing requirements. Audit found that only 18% of the delay was due to requirements change. I am sure after Covid there is a problem with supply chain but HAL had the Tejas order way before Covid.

Dear Gaurav, F-21 is F-16 only, F-16 Block 70, the name was "changed" because India is reluctant to buy F-16, as PAF uses the same, hence they changed the name to F-21, Please note that each plane starts as say YF-22 or YF-35 which means that the American defence forces have been involved with it, rifles have XM designation, only once they have been accepted then it becomes say F-22 etc, so technically F-21 is a paper plane,just a name, real name is F-16 Block 70, if it looks like F-16 Block 70. flies like F-16 Block 70, lands like F-16 Block 70. then it is F-16 Block 70

True but we have to understand that engine projects take minimum of 20-30 years. If we would have started working on the engine in early 2000s then we would have a perfected engine by 2027-28. Btw India hasn't abandoned kaveri project, we are still working on it. I say we will get it by 2030-2032.
