I'm an old school rocker (72 years old) and actually got turned on to symphonic metal during the pandemic. It was kinda like hearing the Beatles for the first time or getting turned on to prog rock in the early 70' or my kids suggesting i listened to their Tool or Pantera records.It was different and good and had an emotional effect on me. I saw Nightwish live in 2022 and Floor Jansen has to be one of the great charismatic, singing stage presences on Earth. Great interview.

I'm adding this comment here because I'm a huge Floor/Nightwish fan and I think of him as a male version of Floor: versatile beautiful voice, metal singer, unbelievable range and more. Tommy Johansson is a Swedish musician who creates metal version covers of classic rock. He is a former member of Sabaton, plays the guitar, drums, and keyboards to all his arrangements and has a crystal clear voice that is such a delight to listen to. He does a version of Phantom of the Opera that reveals his theatrical side, that I would highly recommend reacting to. He also has his own band called Majestica.

I admit, a little disappointed I didn't hear the question Elizabeth said she wanted to ask Floor if she ever got to have tea with her: "Is head banging good for the vocal chords? Does that tighten them or loosen them up?" But to be fair, I do think that was a thought from years ago, so no surprise it got missed. I have to say I love how Floor emphasizes the power of the mind and positivity in health. I have no doubt that so many minor health issues can be made worse just by the negativity and fear of getting sick. It is wonderful to hear such a positive mindset, and how it has helped her through so much.

YES!!!!! After 4 years of waiting, it finally happened! I'm not at all surprised Floor is like this. I'm a New Yorker who works for an American company that's a subsidiary of a Dutch conglomerate. My best friend at the office is a Dutch girl who moved here at the beginning of 2023, and she has one of those beautiful personalities where it's impossible to think negatively of her. I've also spoken with multiple employees at the parent company's headquarters in the Netherlands, and they're equally just as nice.

Love this interview! Until 2013 I didn’t know Nightwish and certainly not Floor Jansen although I’m also Dutch but never heard of Floor Jansen! A friend of mine had 3 multiple day tickets to Wacken open air festival in Germany! I wouldn’t go! Not interested but when 2 days before the festival started one the guys had to go to the hospital for surgery they asked me again. Please come? So okay, I went! What happened over there is beyond words! A Finnish band with a Dutch singer! The videos of that concert are all over KZbin! A concert, a place on this earth I should not have been, a band I should not have seen and heard!

Very nice of Floor to acknowledge the importance of Anneke van Giersbergen's debut with The Gathering (she was already their third vocalist, they had been through a bunch of guys). After she became the leadsinger on the Mandylion album everything changed and female vocalists became more and more prevalent in metal. Anneke's influence can never be overstated enough.

I'm a 58 year old American Male (considered to be an A-Typical) Manley, a former military tough guy who grew up in Queens, NY, a street kid. Other than my faith in Christ, my wife, kids, and dog, this Band and this beautiful woman move me so much. I drive over the road (I haul rocket fuel, and for you folks that like cruise ships, we fuel those too) Nightwish is all I listen to anymore. The same, traditional Metal that I listened, loved and played (Drums) just gets so boring nowadays, you know ahead what is coming. Nightwish music plays with my brains and offers endless sounds and instruments and largely because of Floor Jansen, also the feelings touching me deeply in my soul. So Nightwish and Floor have ruined the other Music for me, I listen almost only Nightwish also, I give a chance to others, but usually get disappointed and return to Nightwish. Most my friends and colleagues do not get it and they are happy with the same Metal style we all listened in our youth and love it and think Nightwish music is too difficult and hard to get. It goes to show, that any person look after and react differently to different music and that it is good that the Music and Metal scenes are so versatile.

in some ways this is confusing... Floor is to me some Goddess-level persona... she can have 80 thousands people in the palm of her hand and STILL she's a simple woman, battling with diseases, worrying about her daughters and struggling with life-work balance with her husband. For me it’s simple. She is our Valkyrie Goddess on stage with Nightwish. She can be that in her solo performances. Offstage she is a very human sensitive woman with a family both human and animal which keeps her grounded. All the work offstage creates what we see onstage performances including albums & music videos.

But as a serious reply, I think the main takeaway from this observation should be, "I wonder if every God-tier person I've ever admired is also a simple person, dealing with normal, every day crap, trying to make sense of life, too?" Elizabeth's reactions to both Ghost love score, and The greatest show on earth were so epic and honest and real. Elizabeth showed the true professionalism of someone who was new to the metal genre at that time. How could anyone not love Floor and Elizabeth.

During COVID I was watching Elizabeth do a reaction to Dio. I liked what she said and the next reaction that came up was Nightwish. My 4 year old daughter stopped what she was doing and became mesmerized by Floor's voice, she wanted to hear more and so did I! We found the live performance on KZbin and we have been watching and listening to Nightwish ever since! My daughter to this day wants Floor to be her mom and wants to give her hugs! Thank you Elizabeth for introducing us to Nightwish, thank you Floor for sharing your incredible gift to the world.

Liz, I just discovered ANOTHER side of Floor! She was/is in a band called Northward. While Love Died is a must off their debut album. Just straight forward rock n roll. I discovered them about a week ago, and I play it repeatedly. I only wish you heard this before Tea Time.
