Really enjoyed this. Melissa's ability to flip between vocal styles, is pretty impressive. Melissa reminds me so much of a Canadian vocalist, Loreena McKennitt, particularly on McKinnitt's album, "The Visit". I commented one Melissa what I think she can become not only the Metal world in Elizabeths face to face interview, which definitely everybody that loves this reaction should watch. Here I just like to point a revalation that only came to me today. Dark Side of the Moon is accidental side Project triggered by Melissa and Hans of Feuerschwanz that started out of a silly dare and the line up is Melissa and her fiancee (the drummer, also know for his work with Amaranth) and Hans the Upright (or better Hans Platz) on guitar and Miu Mieze or Jenny Diehl on harp (both of the latter from Feuerschwanz). It took almost 3 months from me to realize that Jenny played the role of Jenny of Oldstone in the music video. Very clever by them very stupid by me to realize so late that Jenny literally is Jenny here :P

However, I think you should give "Endless Stairs" or "Mold" off their album 86 a listen first. Lena, the vocalist, is someone I believe would make a really good interview. Bonjour Elizabeth, that was really good...that woman have soul in her singing and the musicians were very good...I've look to a lot of your reactions and I really appreciate them, it's easy to see that you know what you're talking about when it come to singing an interpretation...because you seem to like charismatic voice I would suggest you to have a look in the Kate Bush material, that woman is a true artist in every sens of the word...not only she have a unique and beautiful voice, but she's a wonderful story teller (I know you like that aspect because I've seen your reaction about Lara Fabian)...she also write her song, sing them and produce them...since the early "80 she was really a pioneer in a lot of aspect (music, singing, first woman to have a number one in the UK chart with a self composed song, first to use a head rest mic in concert, etc.)...if you're interested I would suggest to start with "Running up that hill" or with "A woman's work."....I'm pretty sure you won't regret it...sorry if my English have some mistake, I'm a french speaking guy from Montréal.

"The Prince of Dragonflies loved Jenny of Oldstones so much he cast aside a crown, and Westeros paid the bride-price in corpses" Agreed that this is the best thing to come out of S8. Rumour has it that Jenny of Oldstones escaped the disaster at Summerhall that claimed the lives of her husband Duncan Targaryen and so much of his family, and returned to her family's ruined castle, Oldstones and stayed there as a living ghost. There's an old lady who lives nearby, known as the ghost of high heart, who share her prophetic dreams in exchange for being sung this song, and she would always cry. She matches the description of an woods witch who was lady's maid to Jenny of Oldstones.

The Dark Side of the Moon is such an interesting project, it's great to see them on the channel! Elizabeth, on the last reaction, someone said that Iron Maiden is the biggest underground band in the world, because though they are huge, with a gigantic fanbase and legendary status, they have very little mainstream crossover and there are people even in the music business that when one speaks of them go aaaah, how do you spell that... that line of reasoning goes double for Manowar, they're a metal secret, for the iniciates of heavy music alone. Please listen to the much repeated advice in the comments and give it another try with Mountains, the band's most melodic song, one where Eric stays in that sweet spot you identified most of the time. Plus at least two more points of interest (no spoilers). kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ-liKyuj6uJoqs

Manowar are nowhere near as big as Iron Maiden, though. Not even close. I don't know where you're getting this 'nobody outside metal knows Iron Maiden' stuff, but it sounds like romanticised nonsense to me. There's three classic metal bands EVERYONE who hasn't spent their life under a rock has heard of: Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Iron Maiden. Five, if you want to add Judas Priest and Slayer.
@oglschmitt3 жыл бұрын
@@Broccoli_Highkicks Everybody knows Metallica. They are as much a mainstream band as a metal band now. Who can't sing the chorus to "Enter Sandman" on command?Plenty of people may have heard the name Iron Maiden, but outside of the metal fanbase, how many actually know any Maiden songs. They can pack a large venue full of fans, but you won't hear them on top 40 radio. Ozzy Osbourne is a mainstream name.As a result a lot of people. have heard OF Black Sabbath, but how many of those people have any familiarity with Sabbath's material? In the mainstream, Slayer and Priest are known for their notoriety more than their body of work. I think you are confusing awareness with familiarity. Louis's point WAS that Manowar is not as big as Maiden, but they still have an incredibly large and loyal fanbase for a band with almost no mainstream presence.
