@@frking100 Music industry loves them because they make money out of their touring, but radio hates them, can't have Mrs Smith from a village in the Cotswolds choking on her iced bun if Iron Maiden suddenly appeared on Radio 2. He is an author, writing many books, and he also is a radio and TV personality. He did acting in school as a kid, and that lends a lot into this stage show. He also helped create Trooper beer. One of the things I really like about your reaction videos is that I feel like as a person that's been in this genre for so long, I feel like I've become really jaded. I see this and think "yeah, that's just Iron Maiden." This is the kind of musicianship and performance that I expect out of a good metal band. I need to be reminded that this is NOT normal, that Bruce's vocals are NOT average, that their energy level on stage is NOT expected, that their musical talent is NOT mundane. This genre is so hard to survive in that it's easy to become accustomed to this level of playing being the norm.

I just wonder why people always want reactors to react older stuff from performer? And I'm not speaking only about this song, but in general. The old songs even if they are good and performers are in their prime, they don't reflect how they sing nowadays. It's more realistic to listen songs which represent their current act. And later react to older stuff to get perspective what was their starting point.

@@alexwust1388 It's because not everybody listens to rock and metal. For example, especially in my country, people don't know Maiden well.
@alexwust13884 жыл бұрын
@@user-eb8mi3xi5f Sure. But maybe it's possible to have heard of Maiden at least - like I have heard of Lady Gaga, Adele and Bruno Mars?
@user-eb8mi3xi5f4 жыл бұрын
@@alexwust1388 They are very mainstream popular artists. In the nowadays era of an internet and youtube. So if they produce album or sell pretty much, then it's easier to get a public attention and recognition. And back to the Maiden, a situation is rather different to Maiden, whose peak years were quite 80s. They had no MTV or Radio promotion either. But don't get me wrong, I am not saying they don't have any legacy and reputation now. They are an incredibly great band. I am just saying that it's just about the music current. In 70, 80s hard rock and metal were very popular but soon it changed to punk/new wave/grunge or alternative era. Then now pop. So I think it's understandable that time when classic rock/metal bloomed is not familiar to some. But if they get a special interest in those genres then they can widen their musical spectrum. Or they can ever hear those bands' names.

Iron Maiden will always be close to my heart. First concert I've seen in 1984, in Communist Poland. It was.... like waking up from the nightmare. It was after martial law, after years of emotions and fear; they came, they sung amazing songs, and played soccer against Polish National team (well some from there). It was amazing time, amazing band, and it was first time we felt free.

how is it going with all the ukraine people migrating to poland???
@browncoat6972 жыл бұрын
How easy was it to listen to Iron Maiden in early 80s Poland? There's a lot of metal bands from Poland now that I think about it, despite being semi-cut off from western media for 40 years.
@MarekDohojda2 жыл бұрын
@@browncoat697 kinda depends on when. During the Martial law it was practically impossible. Prior to that and after it was doable. Usually you got your music from taping radio, or with counterfeit tapes ( you could buy Iron Maiden album but it certainly was not produced by Western Media, it was a copy). Western Media was very much frown upon and it was mostly ignored. There was 15 minutes from (I think) 7:30-745 on Friday where they had music videos after Martial Law. I left in 1985, and I can say in 1984/5 you could get your hands on the major bands. I had Accept, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy, Dio and few others.

I remember getting vinyls from Ukraine (no idea why they had them over there) in the 80's and ordering pirated MCs over a machine typed list that included hard rock, that's how I first met Metallica, Iron Maiden Slayer, Sepultura and Obituary

He's not only an official pilot, he beat throat cancer. There's no one more of a real badass metal guy than him lol Edit: Sidenote. I've HEARD (dunno if true) that they are mostly West Ham United fans. Like actually hardcore fans. And they played a private friendly match, it rained, and later they were washing they were in the showers, butt naked washing their WHU shirts. Shows a lot of humility, if true.

I'm a metal head for nigh on 40 years. Speed metal, thrash metal, death metal... you name it, I'm into it. Metal doesn't mean you can hold a note like Bruce. The man is on a completely different level. There are legit world class opera singers who can't touch him.
