Thanks for watching! Probably one of the more tougher things I've edited but I hope it sticks the landing. Didn't really know what to explore and this went through like 6 revisions. Had one where it focused on cruises, one where it's Mattson, but I landed on the succession aspect and "evil Logan" narrative.
Music is taken from the succession soundtrack and the main piece is the same song used in the trailer for The White Lotus season 2!! Ripped that off asap when I heard it. What a amazing trailer track.

lol cool that you noticed. Yeah, there's a shot in the s4 trailer where Roman throws his arms up toward the protesters and I was like "THAT scene needs to be in there" so I waited and waited for the scene and basically dropped it in + exported haha. Thanks so much!

One piece of mixing advice: The music should dip more for the dialogue. In a trailer you want the audience to focus on one thing at a time. In a music moment, let it rip, in a dialogue moment - the dialogue takes over everything.

Honestly both the season 1 trailer and official full series trailer just don't get the show right and make it seem much more generic than it is. I’ve already watched this so many times, you’re an inspiration when it comes to editing. I’m curious, in general, how you pick music for your videos. How do you hone in on what song is best for a video and how do you find the music?

thank you so much I’m glad you liked it. For this one specifically it’s not really the most exciting cause I sort of robbed it from another HBO trailer. The White Lotus S2.. and then it would’ve been criminal to not include Britell’s score around it. It’s mostly a gut feeling but instrumentation is a big part of it. I did a trailer for Better Call Saul a couple months ago and the one thing that caught me was the electric guitar in that song sounding very similar to the original theme song, so I kept it in mind. It’s good to make a spotify/apple music playlist and add anything that MIGHT work, even if you eventually scrap it! Think about the score of the movie/show and what similarities you can find

thank you! It’s an easier to edit over features but in my opinion selects are much more difficult cause for me I rewatch the whole show and basically take notes on lines that work off a synopsis or act like fake counters to other lines etc. And then story for most things are simple but not so much for this, cause I didn’t know if I should focus on cruises, matsson, the alliance, all that.. but it just comes with time and experimenting. Note taking is the best method of everything that you think even MIGHT work. Having a song in mind helps that process too imo
