Stephanie thank you so much for showing Fram. I was blessed with opening the St Elizabeth Hospice Shop in 2011 as Manager working with the most amazing team of volunteers and as you say working in a lovely town with the most amazing people as customers for two years. I recall your Mum quietly coming into the shop always asking for large curtains. We never had curtains big enough and I always used to joke with my volunteers saying does that lady live in a Castle! Little did I know....I must admit I shed a tear of happy memories past when you walked through the little alleyway as I would always park near your Mums house walking through the alleyway to and from work. To anyone from Fram reading this a very Happy Advent. Thank you for the memories. Hands down, this is one of my favorite episodes of the chateau diaries. Mummy got it right when she pointed out the actual meaning of the Christmas holiday, which is the birth of Jesus. She was direct and to the point. Mummy's house is darling, too! ❤

I feel like I’m saying goodbye to my own mother watching Mummy. She was just like her and I use to tease my mother that they were so much alike. We started watching Chateau Diaries in early 2020 when I was losing my mother to Pancreatic cancer. Your mother Stephanie has oddly made missing mine a little less bittersweet when we get to see her visits with you and when she goes, it makes me remember how sad my mother was when we said Goodbye and your mother looks at you the same way. 😢 A little sad and wonderful all at the same time. 😘 Safe trip Isabel & Percy

Oh Stephanie I know how hard it is to say goodbye to your mom. I’ve lived in Ottawa, Canada for the past 40 years but I’m originally from Newfoundland where my family is. I use to see my parents for three weeks of the year and it was the hardest thing to do to say goodbye to them, so I know how your heart feels. It's originally about the return of longer and lighter days if we are completely honest and go far back into history. The church just needed to persuade people to join it and added its own aspect to the winter solstice celebrations. And we all know Jesus wasn't even born in winter. It's absolutely possible to love and have great meaning in Christmas while not liking consumerism and not being religious. It's just for a different reason. The original reason. The ways and traditions have changed, but the main meaning is still the same.

spot on.. but we have traditions from our childhoods and it brings comfort to many, me included. I spend it all alone.. I do it as if I have visitors. I look outwards and phe friends and relatives far away tro wish them Merry christmas. I am disabled. not miserable with it. I am thankful and give thanks for what I have.. which is more than enough.
