I don't know how I came across your channel. I am a man in his early 50's. I work nights, fulltime in all weathers at an airport. My wife works days and most afternoons this time of year there is nothing much to do when you are by yourself, but a bit of KZbin always fills the the time. I think the first video I saw of yours was about the renovation of your kitchen. From then I was hooked. Only yesterday I watched your visit to Leominster. I sat here with a coffee and had to question myself as to why I was watching you go through different materials in an antique shop. But do you know what, I love it. It's then I came to realise that both my wife and I actually love to frequent these places, we just never realised it. We love your style/fashion, your home and your general taste all over. You both bring so much warmth and comfort on these dark miserable winter days. We love you guys. Kirsten, have you though about narrating book for audible?

My grandmother gave me my first advent calendar when I was born. I still have it...54 years later ❤ I had a German great grandmother, her name was Martha (Marta) i never met her, but some of her Christmas traditions live on to today with us. Loved this video, it simply brought to mind my family and cherished memories, My beloved parents who have both sadly passed away. The Christmas lights are twinkling...but the missing goes on. As do traditions. Thank you ❤

I am so happy to see someone make Springerle. I have my Grandmother's Springerle board and have been collecting many, many other Springerle boards over the years. My collection is now over 100 of them. A great source for molds is a company called House on the Hill. They have reproduced many of the old molds and sell them. They are very well made. You might find one you would like to add to your collection I have a friend that makes Springerle's just for the two of us every year at Christmas. Our grandparents were from Germany and we have been friends since grade school, almost 70 years now.

This is bringing back so many lovely memories of the part of my childhood spent on Germany. Back in the 1950's ( yes I am that old) we were bought cosy warm fleece lined boots, and amazingly cosy coats when we first arrived in Germany. Coming in from the cold, with snow stuck to our woollen gloves and freezing cold, only to be hit with the heat from the central heating, I don't think we had it in England then. I remember the 'boiler man', who would enter the house via the cellar, and stoke up the boiler with coal, which had been delivered via an outside chute, directly into the cellar. Having hot chocolate topped with a huge dollop of cream, and a wonderful cake, while my mother was having her hair done. My mother always said that the Germans were so much more efficient than us Brits, and I think she was right!!!!!!!!!

My daughter lives in Berlin and for the first time she has made an Advent wreath. She has been introduced to lots of these traditions by her partner. She introduced him to mince pies and Christmas cake.

My mom is German (married an American GI) and growing up in the U.S., we would get a big box around Christmas time from my Oma filled with German sweets. I gre w doing a lot of German traditions. I have my mom's (which was my Oma's) advant wreath. I still put it up every year. I will have to try the oranges with the cloves.

We’ve had advent calendars every Christmas since we were children in Germany in 1966 through 68. All these years later, my sister and I are still buying them, some from Germany, some from the Kinder chocolate company that you have used on KZbin! We couldn’t go a Christmas without them and it’s still fun at our age. We agree with you on that!

My dad's side of the family comes from Germany (Hagenbach) and we had many of these traditions when I was very small (the Advent wreath, the candle pyramids, cuckoo clocks, nutcrackers and figurines). Your kitchen and dining room are so beautiful! I love the blue cabinets. In the 90’s I went to England 5 times when my daughter and her family lived there. I miss it so much! I only went to Germany once but was there for three months where my son lived in a little village. What a beautiful country, especially in Bavaria. I went to Christmas markets in three large cities. My mother was German and this brings so many memories… your last video with the clip on candles… my mother had these growing up but with real candles… the tree was only lit on Christmas Eve… they came home from Church and the Parlor doors were opened to the lit tree.
