I am so excited you are planning for rainwater collection! I don’t think that’s boring at all. So few people think of it until their area is in a drought. And even if you live somewhere not in a drought emergency or damaged water table where you need to conserve, plants LOVE rainwater! The gardens will be amazing one day because of it!

Hello All at the Chateau, Was just thinking about damp... after having issues in the past in an old house I have learned a bit about this problem we all have in old stone structures. Best never use cement around the chateau or regular plaster ..Use any Lime base render or mortar..It lets the walls breathe and it much better all the way around.. Very tough but flexible. .Then finish the walls off with chalk base paint or paint that also has same properties as the lime. breathable...... Love watching Thank you ....enjoy the new feathery Friends... How Fun
@twobluestripes3 жыл бұрын
I learned from restorers in England on youtube that linseed oil paint was used on wood exteriors to much because it too is permeable in a way that lets the moisture in and out if wood, so it doesn’t bubble up and peel off as much or trap water inside causing wood rot! So much to learn from older materials.
@goldenineke3 жыл бұрын
@@twobluestripes I remember my old style painter used linseed oil to soak all the rather dry and poorly conditioned window sills in my home when I first bought it. Then it was painted and many decades later, the sills are still in perfect condition for a 100 year old home.

We have the same condensation issues in our property in Brittany. It stands empty during the winter and when we arrive at Easter and attempt to heat the property the walls can be running with condensation, pooling on the floor. Once the fabric of the house is warmed after several days then the condensation is no longer a problem.
