Thanks for this video and your selection of Chen Dynasty for a channel name. It will bring you GREAT SUCCESS! This is important because we don't learn enough about Ancient China in American schools (sometimes we don't learn anything at all) and it had a tremendous influence through inventions and trade with the rest of the world. You also reminded me that I made a promise to myself a long time ago that I would sit down and read the entire Romance of the Three Kingdoms books. I am ordering Volume 1 now.

Zhuge Liang 🙌🏻 Not going to lie, Dynasty Warriors is what brought me here. I grew up with the games, but only recently realized that they are based somewhat on history. It is so fascinating! He isn't, he was popularized in the novel of three kingdoms because the author was a huge fan of his and listed some of other people's achievements under his name. "There is great confusion on whether the stories are historical or fictional. At least, the Empty Fort Strategy is based on historical records, albeit not attributed to Zhuge Liang historically. For Chinese people, the question is largely irrelevant, as the Zhuge Liang of lore is regardless seen as a mastermind, whose examples continue to influence many layers of Chinese society."

Ivan Chen No, he was not. Cao Cao is actually born from a prominent family, where his ancestors had served as high as one of the San Gong ( literally translated in english as Three Duke, which is the three highest ranks one can get in Han Dynasty ). In the Han Dynasty, there was no civil examination unlike in the later Chinese dynasty, instead, people get to work in the government through a Recommendation System which is basically controlled by the powerful family of the high-ups, and Cao Cao is one of those that get recommended to be an civil servant because of his fame and family influence. In conclusion, he is no way close to a peasant, fyi.

Great video. There are some minor inaccuracies. At 2:58, the video mentioned 姜子牙lived in accordance with Taoist teachings, where in fact Taoism wasn't invented until the late Period of Zhou by 老子 who worked as a librarian for Zhou royal court. 管仲 is not 羅貫中 at 4:34 and at 6:15, the latter is the writer of the Romance of Three Kingdom. At 4:45, the man in the purple robe is not 管仲 but 劉備 who was the founder of Shu Kingdom in late Han Dynasty. The charters beside him reads: If Bei (himself) has gained foothold, then the mediocre (the current rulers) are not worthy of being taken seriously. Great work!
@ingxiong
@ingxiong 5 жыл бұрын
taoism was not invented by 老子. the first written script about it is attributed to a person supposedly bearing that name. however, the said person may or may not be historical. taoism started about four hundred years before 姜子牙, at least according to the legends, as it is said that he went to study from a master of the way of the heaven and earth, who was the eldest disciple of the first human who became an immortal, 400 years ago.

Historically thoughx Hua Tuo didn't die in prison. He was executed by Cao Cao. He treated Cao Cao's headaches with acupuncture which immediately relieved his headaches. Cao Cao was so impressed that he had Hua Tuo (more like forced) be his personal physician. Feeling unhappy to be confined, Hua Tuo would often pretend that his wife was sick and so was unable to attend to Cao Cao and treat him. This culminated in him leaving his post and returning to his village. Cao Cao sent several letters to Hua Tuo asking him to return but Hua Tuo repeatedly found reason to procrastinate and extend his leave. Fed up, Cao Cao sent his men to investigate. If Hua Tuo's wife was truly sick, he would be rewarded with bushels of lentils. But if he were faking it, he would be arrested and brought back. Obviously, it was the latter. After confessing in prison, Cao Cao ordered him to be executed. Xun Yu attempted to stop Cao Cao and plead on Hua Tuo's behalf, but Cao Cao remarked "there will be more rats like him under the heavens." And thus, Hua Tuo was executed. Before his death, he wrote down his medicinal techniques and tried to pass them over to his jailer. The jailer was afraid of what Cao Cao would do if he found out and refused. Broken, Hua Tuo decided to burn the scrolls, wiping out all of his years of medicinal research.

Zhu Geliang is a straight shooter, always attacking properly and carefully. He had too much on his shoulders and could not afford to lose many troops since his 200,000 troops were all that the kingdom has. Simayi once mentioned Zhu Geliang is second to none in country management, but cannot lead an army.

He never commanded more than 100.000. And Zhuge Liang can't compare himself to Sima Yi because he wasn't a good military commander.

@@Akkise No not true at all. SIma yi on countless occasion was outwitted by Zhuge Liang. Both in military strategy and political plots.

@@Maitreya888 Zhuge liang is good in strategy, but not as good in tactical military command. Zhao Zilong excels in tactical (on the spot) command prowess.

Zhu Geliang was definitely not as good as everyone thinks and does great disservice to other top figures during that time. Cao Cao is who I consider the best all round figure in management, strategy, and physical ability. In strategy, you need to be cunning and be able to predict what other people will do. The best were Zhou Yu, Guo Jia, Jia Xu, Pang Tong, Sima Yi. Zhu Geliang, at best, was a great inventor, loyalist, and a great country manager.

YES! NUMBER ONE! Top Quality. Also interesting how one of the two people Zhege Liang compares himself to, Guan Zhong, is in here as well. Imagine what happens if Zhuge Liang's mind gets resurrected today.

Awesome video like always. Look forward to the next one. One thing I should mention and it may not be a big deal but it is to a Chinese person lol. Zhuge is the surname and Liang is the given name not Zhu Geliang.

Liu Bowen(劉伯溫) and Guiguzi(鬼谷子) should be on the list! People always said that the former one was the reincarnation(轉世) of Zhu geliang(諸葛亮) , and the latter one was a legendary man who believed to be the founder of Zonghengjia(縱橫家).In additional, Guiguzi was the teacher of many famous historical figure such as Zhang Yi(張儀), Su Qin(蘇秦), Sun Bin(孫臏)and Pang Juan(龐涓), who influenced Chinese history.

I think you should drop the "The" in Chen Dynasty, because "the" sounds out of place. It's like facebook vs The facebook. "The" in any youtube channel's name doesn't sound good.

Mami Burger it’s not like the Facebook. It’s more like. The United States of America. The Great Britain You add the for something important “The” is an article and to add an article that item has to be specific. Facebook doesn’t have to be specific

I LOVE "Romance of the 3 Kingdoms"! "Romance of the 3 Kingdoms 2" was the first strategy computer game I ever played, back in 1989 on the N.E.S.. I used to always pick Ma Teng as My ruler, with Zhou Yu as My main General. I sooo want to play R.O.T.T.K.s again, after watching this video. If only I had My old N.E.S. and game still. :(
