Why is there a UFO in season 2 of Fargo? What’s up with the UFO? What’s the deal here? Is the flying saucer a representation of something? Symbolism? Or are fans expected to simply accept that aliens are part of this supposed true story? Let's discuss...

I love the fact that you put no music in the video. Breath of fresh air in the modern times of social media.

I was wondering a while back so i googled 'ufo sightings in the 70's usa' and guess what, there was a report of one by a police officer in 1979 minnesota

I saw your review on IMDB and clicked on your link. Then I see this video - its a question I've had since I watched this season years ago. Great video and you've earned my sub.

The truth of the matter is that, on the same night the UFO came, Betsy had her dream of the future. A literal vision of the future. The season ends with her and Lou in bed and she looks dramatically healthier. Her and Peggy shared the same vision at one point. I believe this higher power saved Peggy and I believe it cured Betsy's cancer as their visions were part of the higher power moving them to an alternative timeline. They were seeing these visions because they were entering into the timeline highway towards their new off ramp. Meanwhile in the original timeline Betsy died that evening, Peggy died in the freezer with Ed and Lou died in the motel parking lot.

I'm surprised you didn't mention how that storyline, which came out of nowhere and didn't serve any purpose, when Ted dansons Characters daughter found in his study room was evidence that her dad was obsessed with UFO sightings.

Excellent review, love your content. There's more. Fargo season 2 is a love letter to the post modern and dirty realism American literary movements of the time. It pays homage to works like Bukowski's Post Office, Heller's Catch-22, and particularly Vonnegut's Slaughter House Five... Vonnegut's alien Tralfamadores 👽 show up seemingly at random in his work, but do indeed serve to deliver a deeper theme.

This may have been mentioned but my take away was Close Encounters of the Third Kind being quite a big deal in the zeitgeist of same time frame as the season's. Devils Tower in the movie is not all that far from Fargo either. I remember next to Star Wars the movie was huge when I was a young kid.

Johnson reported that while he was on patrol near Warren, Minnesota about 2 AM on August 27, 1979, he saw a beam of light just above the road. According to Johnson, the beam sped towards him, his squad car was engulfed in light, and he heard glass breaking. The Val Johnson Incident refers to an alleged encounter by Marshall County, Minnesota Deputy Sheriff Val Johnson with a UFO in 1979. Johnson said he was unconscious for 39 minutes and when he awoke he realized his wristwatch and the vehicle's clock had stopped for 14 minutes. The windshield was shattered, a headlight and red emergency light was damaged and a thin radio aerial bent. Deputies responding to Johnson's call for help found the squad car sideways on the road. Johnson suffered bruises and eye irritation that a physician compared to "welder's burns".

The year in that season of Fargo plays is the year "Life of Brian" came out and there was a famous equally awkward UFO scene that was very popular in my youth. I think it is just reference to Life of Brian. Also the "True Story" is all lies... that is my biggest gripe with Fargo, I don't like when each episode starts with a lie.
@nospoon4799
@nospoon4799 5 ай бұрын
All stories have lies. Usually from someone involved trying not to look bad. I thought the UFO was there to explain Peggy's reactions. Rye was staring at it when he got run over. Peggy was also, which was why Rye got run over, and she just drove home rather than getting out of the car. Nobody will believe the UFO part so she lies about everything. Later Peggy is the only one that has learned to ignore it. She has already rationalised it because of the previous incidents. Hanze sees it and just looks like he knows what it is, sky people. The cops were just no way going to put it on paper. The interesting part is Reagan being there. Spielberg told him ET was a true story and he went digging around after that. he made the Starwars program and then got shot for his efforts. Life of Brian was talking about the connections with Roman gods and UFO's. Which is written in stone.

i think the point of mike in fargo was to get margie to realize the william h macy character was also lying to her.

It’s interesting you mention how people react to flying saucers by just getting on with life…I’ve often thought people explained reaction to UFOs and the supernatural didn’t always make much sense. So you were making a sandwich and you saw a ghost walk across the kitchen and dematerialize near the cupboard? Yes. Then what did you do? Nothing I just finished making my sandwich.

@@username.exenotfound2943 Personally. I was not seeing things and people who have seen the same thing believe me 100%. It's not my job to convince anybody. I have seen a lot of people convince themselves that I am crazy or delusional etc. It's a bit sad actually.

Seeing a ghost or alien in my home is akin to seeing an intruder. I am not going to just acknowledge a strange entities presence and get on with my life. That is unless - of course - my mind has been altered by the experience. My synapses have been scrambled or there has been a sudden release of a calming agent like dopamine /maybe cortisol. My theory is that since the witness to the entity does not act in record with the actions of a normal victim...there may be some kind of mins control or mental tampering on a very low level.@@SerErryk
