I remembered that a damaged aquarium has been gathering dust in the basement for about 5 years. I came up with a new project idea, so I thought I'd fix it because a tank like this isn't cheap. Originally, I only had to replace one side, but of course, things got complicated. I had to dismantle the whole thing and put it back together because the old adhesive was of poor quality. I was nervous because I've never done anything like this before, but the end result turned out quite well. Initially, I didn't want to make a separate video about it, but eventually, I decided to show you the process.

Now that's "starting an aquarium from scratch". Another of your wonderful videos, for me they are all small works of art. with absolutely unmatched quality. You will always be the best by far. A big hug from Germany 👍❤️

Excellent, really well explained, I assume you didn't cut the replacement end panel to size yourself, I haven't had a lot of success cutting glass. You carrying the tank alone from the basement did rather unsettle me, carrying even a modest sized tank from awkward locations is quite dangerous, I once brought a tank down from a loft alone, I was lucky, but never again. Your new found skills with silicone sealant glue are impressive, though I did once repair a window with silicone rather than putty and it was one of my few genuine DIY successes. Please continue to make such great content, minor cuts on the hands with glass are part of the process, a bit like minor hand burns for chefs, but please take care carrying a glass box without help nobody wants abdominal or chest or neck incisions from broken glass, potentially fatal.

You are such a creative and talented creator. You can easily make an empty broken aquarium video exciting and amazing. I've been following you from the beginning, and the videos are getting better and better. Keep up the good work, mate! Just so you know, you can use Masking tape instead of duct tape. It's easily removed without leaving any stains.

1:30 In my country glass workers are allowed to have some low level of alcohol in their blood (something like 0.3 ˚%), because of all the random cuts. It's really hard not getting cut when working with glass panes. I never dared to reseal whole aquarium, but I glued in some internal sumps and always ended up with cuts. It's probably best to wear some special gloves. De-greasing solutions are also aggressive. Be it paint thinner, tech. gasoline or the Isopropylalcohol. That said, the resealed tank looks great!

Can I ask, what do you do with all of these aquariums etc? If you want to do a new scape do you breakdown and old one and start fresh? If so how do you manage the livestock, do you waste the substrate or reuse etc?

When you started applying silicone, a thought struck me and was waiting till the end of the video before commenting. I wanted to say that you should've pasted making tape before silicone to avoid spreading. But, then you just wet the glass and removed excess silicone....! To think how much time i wasted sticking and re sticking the making tape 😩😩
@TheCineScaper8 ай бұрын
This is the simpler and faster way, but using masking tape can result in a nicer outcome.

Also, in a case like this degreasing is not the most important part. It is actually removing silicone. Silicone leeks basically liquid silicone which covers all surfaces near it. Use silicone remover instead of paint thinner! Very important! That's what Paintshops use.
@PaulZyCZ8 ай бұрын
@@citizen.baatorium3776 True, silicone needs to be gone, but also the glass edges need to be degreased. I had some trouble attaching 3D background because of the latter.
