Well I'd say the Sex Pistols were the creme de le creme when it came to punk, guitar riffs that are capable of giving you goosebumps, legendary songs such as "God save the Queen" and "Anarchy in the UK". The Clash and the Sex pistols must've found something in common seeing as they went on tour with each other.

But they're not nor were they ever. What they were was safe.
@baran6187
@baran6187 7 ай бұрын
@@zombywoof7309The moniker "the only band that matters" should be viewed in the context of social/political unpheavals and musical trends of the era. In the late 70s and early 80s, Britain was in the throes of massive economic inequality. The U.S, on the other hand, was mired in abject consumerism and recreational drug use by members of all classes. The music of the era, therefore, while fun and exciting, cultivated pure escapism. The Clash emerged in the midst of all these developments, and so their first album was filled with indignation about social injustice and inequality. But then the group evolved, and while maintaining their sociopolitical zeal, they integrated different musical styles into a cohesive sound, something that had never been done before. (Sandanista! is almost like a encylopedia of music.) The band members also eschewed the trap of wealth accumulation-- with the exception of the last phase of the group's existence--early in their career secretly ushering in moneyless fans into the venues and then releasing their third album practically for free. In line with these commitments, in 1983, they forced the US Festival organizers to donate $500000 to struggling bands, and, as they were on the verge of stardom, they decided to break up the group. Years later, the former members rejected an offer for millions of dollars by MTV to play a series of live shows. One other thing: The Clash inspired many aspiring musicians and song writers to write about issues other than love. The list is long. I don't think what I just described paints a picture of a "safe" band.

If you’ve listened to London Calling then and now their music stands the test of time.,the album is an experience of life and encapsulates elements of it as it is.They are enduring and captivating led by a charismatic Joe and supported in an abundance of talent and versatility.Loved them then love them now.They really were the only team that mattered and even more so now with the trickle of drivel surrounding us.

Brilliant, I just managed to connect my laptop to my 50" plasma and it's fantastic to see this on the big screen, not bragging about TV, just the fact it's connected now

1:50 how the fuck could Paul play the bass like that and still pull swift riffs.. It's on knee level! If I try to hang my bass like that my wrist fuckin kills me.

He definitely hung that strap low on his fender P-Bass, but hell man, those licks are not that hard you could pull it off!

There's a saying that a band is only as good as their drummer! This bloke was probably the best and contemporary at the time!

I don’t know…Topper is an absolutely amazing drummer but their first album is also amazing and he’s not on the original UK version.

Thank you for uploading this. Years later and we are still enjoying this. Much respect to the Clash. True pioneers who enlightened so many minds into so many bands and life changes. Bands such as this taught me to 'Question Authority' before I just instinctively respond to their request. Much love to The Ramones, Circle Jerks, Social D, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, and I could go on for a bit before I reach at lest the beginning of punk rock in L.A. How about The Germs & Flesh eaters?
