Love Dax for city commute and country roads. Fine for left lane A roads just sit at 60 easy. Pleasure to ride and get a lot of looks. Comments mostly from older gents who remember them from back in the day.

Great review on the dax and monkey I’ve recently returned to biking after forty years and bought myself a new Honda monkey last year in red which I s a great little bike I’ve modded it with different exhaust bit louder than stock also changed the front and rear sprockets and chain great for nipping along B roads although I took it on a dual carriageway recently not very good at keeping up with the traffic flow had seventy on Speedo not sure if that was true anyway all the best.

The dax is the only small bike I don’t actually have , 2 groms the 5 speed , monkey 5speed , 4 benelli TNT’s , grom is the best road bike , just , I actually seen 81 mph on a grom down a steep hill with a gale force wind behind me , benelli’s top out a 69 , money grom get about 70 - 74 most of the time , there all a total riot , just pure fun 🏍🏍👍👍

Grom is great on the road but the monkey gets you there in style and comfort. I have both right now, the Grom my daily driver until I can get the fuelling issues worked out on the monkey. Both can use intake/exhaust/camshaft and tunes to get them 55mph reliable.

I’ve one of them, best top speed on GPS was 66 ( showed 73 on clock) , I can never get it to hit limiter in 4th. I hear that putting a 14T sprocket on the front will help low down and on hills. I’ve done about 2500 miles so far, and most was 260 miles in a day on it and found the seat not so good, also the forks needs to be stiffened up if you want a spirited blat, but overall I think I preferred my prior Z125 Monkey, the seat on it was awesome!

Very cool machines. That would be cool if there was some way of fitting the 5 speed gearbox and clutch to the DAX. It would be so much cooler if there was a place where I could ride one. I would surely buy one.

The two complaints I have on mine it the seat is horribly uncomfortable. Really with is was the comfy foam they used in the Monkey as this one is stiff as a board and definitely hurts after a while. Second I seem to have exessive front end wobble. Not sure if it’s due to design or something else but my monkey was much more stable.

If the Dax came with a 5-speed manual like the Monkey, I'd be interested. Still, cool to see it offered now. Also, the mpg on the Monkey can't be right at 9:10 - it's closer to a 100-120 mpg bike with a 1.6 gallon tank.

Great little motorcycle. It's both a pity and frustrating the new Honda Dax and the Monkey have been barred from Australia because they don't have dual ABS.
@DaBinCheАй бұрын
In the US once down to neutral you can't push down to 4th, same with 4th can't push up to neutral. US DOT regulation wont' allow for it...If I recall when the SuperCub 125 first got to the US it had the neutral to 4th or 4th to neutral and was delayed for release until it got changed to prevent shifting between neutral and 4th.

Which motorcycle seat is more comfortable, the Monkey or the Dax? I like both designs. Perhaps the seat comfort would help make the choice for me. Still waiting for the Dax to arrive in the USA showrooms.

I had several Honda and Skyteam versions of the Dax and the Monkey over the years, all as 50cc or (completely legal :) 85cc ). For me the conversion to a manual clutch is really the biggest thing. I absolutely hate the food clutch shenanigans.. And the 50cc versions are just too slow for anything, especially so because I live at a very steep hill. Besides the clutch, the modern 125cc versions have one aspect that makes me prefer a scooter of them- there is no storage. That basically makes them useless for any store runs and such.
@SandStormPower4 ай бұрын
@@olik136 I thought about that. I solved it by applying a square top box, maintaining a retro looks. Since I basically only use it to store a helmet (M size modular) and a summer jacket + gloves, it's a tight fit but enough. Even at 24L Remember, square is the most efficient shape for boxes. But I can also recommend up to 32L

AHH such a dilemma, do I or don't I go for a Monkey, I've been debating it for ages.... I think I need to try one first.
@fortyfour16542 ай бұрын
@@paulh8849 Key factors are do you ride solo, and do you prefer a clutch? If so, the Monkey will be the choice to put a huge smile on your face. That said if you have an occasional pillion and prefer the no stall option the Dax will put an equal huge smile on your face!! ....there's also the grom if you don't like the retro vibe. Not forgetting the Super Cub too. Decisions... Decisions.
@paulh88492 ай бұрын
@@fortyfour1654 haha indeed. Well it'll be the monkey for me out of the choices. Loving that classic look. Also loving the idea of a simple camp/tour on a monkey. My only issue is finding a dealer who has a demo and is willing to let me try one first. There are a number on the market with low mileage which is the bit that concerns me.

The evolution of the st70.. BUT, we can notice that the main caracteristic of those mini bikes (you put in a van, in a car..) has desappeard :-(( , you can not retract anymore the handdle bar.. More than 27kg more than a st70, but it's still light. 15cm longer so and so, ok.. And finaly, the good new's is, that the adaptable and RETRACTABLE handlebar for the st125 is quite easy to find :-))))) !!!!!
