It doesn’t matter how many times I see little Nigel, my heart just skips a beat. He’s the sweetest little thing, when he lifts his little face up while he’s eating his mash while he’s chewing is so sweet. Darling little old man. I foster senior dogs, I pay their pound fees and get them out of shelters so they can relax at home. I have a very large soft spot for senior animals. ❤❤❤❤❤

My husband saw the vid with you moving the round bales and wanted to suggest using a "Stone Boat" (dairy farm / Midwest term) but the concept the same as a sled. We use a piece of plywood (3'x3') with a 3 foot 2x4 bolted to one end that has a chain (long enough to hook on a hitch) bolted to each end (think sled rope / loop). yep gotta go a little slow and watch for uneven ground but works great to get the bales into the pasture (summer or winter). thx always for sharing the lives of such amazing animals, blessings & keep being kind!

21:31 a shame the new turd sled doesn't have a back gate to drop so you can pull it and let the manure fall out. I guess you could just hand shovel it out when full. Maybe you can find a KZbin video of folks empty their turd sleds?

@terripebsworth96233 ай бұрын
Perhaps someone could fashion one and weld it on.
@artemisXsidecross3 ай бұрын
It would be easier to just rake or shovel out the manure. The idea of gates and lifting to empty is an over engineered solution and would require extra stress on a human's back to lift and empty.

So I thought about the paddock scrapper problem way longer and harder than reasonable 😂 Here's my best low-tech-I'm-sorry it's-still-pretty-basic guess : I would detach it once it's where you want it and and attach the back handles ( where the text is) to the vehicle. Maybe chains with with carabiners would work, that way you can unhook it easily. Now to flip it, you could try something heavy at the base but picking the object up and moving it there is a hard task for your back. Instead, you could pass a chain through the front handles and fix both ends of the chain to an immobile heavy object ( maybe a car? Cement blocks?). The heavy object needs to be relatively behind the scrapper. Now drive forward and flip with care! The bonus of using a loop as an anchor point is that over multiple days, the scrapper can be emptied at slightly different places in a radius from the heavy object and is also influenced by the length of the loop. I hope whatever way you find to deal with tasks, with or without the gadgets will give you some breaks from the hard work you do! And that you don't break too many things on the way😄🥰😂

15:40 I'm pretty sure the cable is not supposed to run under the front bar on the scrapper, it goes over-top the bar and through the two D shackles. When you want to dump it you take the pins out of the front D -shackles. the front edge should dig in and the cable lifts the back up and it should over end the scraper, emptying it. Someone obviously stole the design from an old grizzled farmer not realizing that the cable is fixed in the back to over end the tray. I can't believe they expect people to lift that thing by hand. Also only filling the front 2/3rds should keep the weight in the front and help flip it over.

Girl you need a tractor. I only have 3 horses and 2 donkeys on 10 acres but it is soooo helpful in a million ways, many of which I would never have guessed. I bought it to move poo and turn manure piles to make some awesome compost. But it helps with moving / lifting heavy things, getting up high to trim trees, lifting and moving fence panels, pushing in metal fence posts, pulling out stuck autos, etc.

I have a Studman too called Astro. He was a stallion for 10 years before we got him. We found out from a woman that knew him at his previous home or we would not have known. I also had 3 mares he is with! He will charge any horse outside of property boundary and is always diligently scanning for any potential threats, lol. He was terribly food aggressive, mouthy etc when he arrived and it has been a long slow road training him out of these behaviours. He is a 16'2 Thoroughbred out of the famous Stallion Galileo we found out with exact facial markings as his dad. A very proud strong horse that has injured me a few times in the past. He makes loud stallion noises at every evening feed. He now walks to his tyre feeder and waits for feed to be put in. I look back on the days he would charge at me and turn to kick me in the early days and think how far he has come. As you would know this type of a horse really challenges your horse knowledge, skill set and teaches you so much about horses and also yourself. He was too much for me and my skill set in the beginning and I had to step up, face my fears and learn fast, lol. I feed out on a 20 horse property and have come across a mare that pinns ears flat back and wants to charge at me at feed time. She has bitten 2 vets and a trainer and if it wasn't for the lessons Astro taught me I would not be able to handle her.

Here's an idea for emptying the turdcatcher.... Dunno if it would save a whole lot of time or be practical. Dig a trench where you want the manure to go that is a width small enough for the 4 wheeler to span. drive up, use a broad flat shovel to push turds off the edge into trench. Another more practical idea would be putting manure pile somewhere you can rig an overhead block & tackle. That way you could just hook onto back edge of turdcatcher to raise it up & dump
