My favorite Maelstrom Wanderer combo is Jokulhaups. The cascades happen before the big guy enters the battlefield, so you can wipe EVERYTHING and have a 7/5 with haste.

I've actually encountered a very scary Charbelcher deck. The combo was having Endless Horizons exile all your lands and then activating the Belcher, and the deck was very well made (at least in my opinion). It played Hannah as a commander for the colors and ability to reclaim Charbelcher or a countered Horizons. It only had plains except for tundra and Hallowed Fountain, which was pretty stable thanks to things like Tithe, Gift of Estates, Wayfarer and 2-drop mana rocks like Talisman of Progress, Fellwar Stone and Sky Diamond. After fixing mana and maybe ramping in the early turns, it would cast one of many tutors like Enlightened Tutor, Fabricate, Merchant Scroll. Then it would simply cast a Endless Horizons followed by the belcher (Horizons also being pretty good by ensuring land drops for the rest of the game) The deck worked really well and consistently killed people turn 5-7. (Mistveil Plains putting an important card into the library so you can tutor it again if you don't have Hannah out was one of many neat things the deck was able to do) It also played cheap Counterspells and a few pillow fort cards which made it really hard to stop. Pull from Eternity and Snapcaster Mage with all the tutors made it hard to just get rid of the combo.

I second the other poster who mentioned Goblin Charbelcher in Grenzo. Kill something and make sure you hit a creature with his activation. I actually think its underrated in commander in general. There are so many effects that let you stack the top of your deck, you can usually guarantee at least 2-4 damage, which is perfect for killing utility creatures. Plus its just super fun to play :)

I had Goblin Charbelcher in my Wort, Boggart Auntie tribal goblins deck, and it was an amazingly fun card. Usually used it in late game to finish off an opponent. fun fun card.

Used to play Goblin Charbelcher in my Sultai combo-control. Paired with cards like Mana severence you can tap Charbelcher for lethal on people. :D

I think Mana Drain and FoW would have been too much...same as Toxic Deluge and Damnation. Damnation is modern playable, so it makes sense they did Deluge here. I'm hoping for Damnation in MM17 and Mana Drain in EM18

Drain is on the reserve list I believe. Damnation is disappointing, both from a value standpoint and a "this card really needs a reprint' standpoint, but from a playability standpoint Deluge is honestly better.

Just adding ashnods altar to a deck can drastically change the power level of it. It's incredibly powerful in all colors, even white which doesn't normally sacrifice stuff to get effects. I kind of wish they would reprint Phyrexian Altar as well.

I use charbelcher in my Grenzo Dungeon Warden deck more to be able to stack the bottom of my library. The damage is a bonus 👌

Can confirm, this card is bananas in my Grenzo build. Drop grenzo on 4, pump out stupid value creatures.With the new mulligan rule, ive bumped up the land count to around 27, including most every land that grabs another land, so usually thinned a few before this can come down. You've got great artifact recursion available to you, and activating the ability is repeatable removal or burn, and stacks the bottom of your deck to pull the highlights out with grenzo. Looking for an infinite? Want that Duplicant to kill animar? Thrun telling ya to find your fleshbag? Its fantastic. To be fair though, i run no instants, enchantments, or planeswalkers, only sorcery is dread return. As you've heard, land-light, so hitting hard, but stacking the bottom of your deck is even more important.

Charbelcher might be able to be used in a mono white deck but you cast the enchantment that exiles all ur plains then go off with belcher that at least works

yo guys are awesome. im so stoked about buyinng into EMA. im going to actually deconstruct a few edh decks and have my hand at building a cube. topics could include some more obscure deck listings, off the wall commanders, maybe take a color combination and go thorough ways decks can be built in each pairing, speculation on the 4 color commanders ans the MANY approaches that we could see. have you done an episode on different game plays using edh decks such as the planeschase or 5 star or emperor ?

I was really disappointed that they didn't reprint anything from the Portal sets, both because I think it would be fun to draft Horsemanship and because those cards are ungodly expensive. Ravages of War is identical to Armageddon but it costs 100 times more for no real reason other than the fact that P3K was a limited print run that nobody bought. Otherwise I'm really happy with the set and although I'm disappointed with it in some ways, it exceeded my expectations in other ways.

You can play goblin charbelcher in Grenzo, Dungeon Warden; it gives you a moderate amount of burn and lets you set up the bottom of your library for grenzo since you can put the cards in any order. Not sure where you got your info Jimmy, but EMA isn't supposed to have positive EV, there are good cards in here, but not enough. Karmic Guide is not an "absurd" card. You are talking about it as if you've never read a reanimation effect. Yes, there is the possible flicker abuse, but look at cards like Animate Dead for comparison.

Worldly Tutor was the worst one to leave out. Out of Vampiric, Mystical, Enlightened, and Worldly tutors, Worldly is the only one that didn't already have a foil printing.

And actually, Worldly Tutor has been printed the least. All of them have printings from 2 different sets, but Worldly is the only one that doesnt have a judge foil or FTV printing, hence being the only one without a foil.

I think they avoided too many pricey modern playable cards, since they have more options. I was upset at first, but I realized this was their chance for Toxic Deluge, which can't be in MM. I expect we'll see it in MM 17

There's also so much searching in EDH that it can be easy to find a target for. Especially if you can get out Leyline/Orrery to cast it at instant speed. They Enlighten Tutor to stack Terminus on top, draw Terminus and activate the Miracle trigger. Call Terminus in response?

I used to have Charbelcher + Mana Severance in my creatureless voltron Narset EDH where most of the mana came from artifacts. Get rid of all the lands and Belch for 60+ damage/turn while swinging with double striking indestructible Narset who tutors instants, exiles blockers and annihilates the defending players board... no one liked that deck.
