Also with robe of stars, the creature can attack immediately upon phasing back in, so it's safe until your turn, and you can immediately take advantage by attacking.

@@zachary3879 phasing more or less means that whatever is phasing and all the stuff attached to it don't exist anymore. It's not in exile, it's not in play, it's just considered to not exist until your next turns upkeep. Because of this it comes in on the upkeep and losses the summoning sickness since it came in at the beginning of said upkeep.

@@wizardexemplar5240 honestly the right mix is focusing on top manipulation and tutors. Voltron is a weak strategy but the top manipulation and tutoring makes up for it. So getting some big chungus equipment or auras really help, and with Hammer of Nazahn and Sigarda's Aid the deck really hums

Feel like they are undervaluing the cantrips a bit for the upgrade format. Yes if you'd be replacing 30, 40, 50 cards obviously they should go (they aren't good) however when you've only replaced 10 there are still a lot of (comparatively) weak cards in the deck, and the difference between the best and the worst cards in it is still huge. Replacing the weakest cards, and keeping the cantrips, lets you cycle towards your good cards (that will win you the game) instead of playing the weak/mediocre ones.

I think serum visions is absolutely amazing in the deck. (I have played a few games with it). Since you can look at the top card any time with the commander, you can look for an enchantment or aura 4 times to cast from the top. No aura on top? Cast serum visions. Scry 2 to find one that you can cast. You can even scry both to the bottom and look at the next card in your library. It outperformed a lot of other cards in the deck. My Upgrades are also mir focused on getting the commanders ability, rather than more creatures, like (not budget) scroll rack for example. But that is just preference

Kinda bummed that the "upgrade" suggestion was mostly infect, although Craig makes a strong case for why it's good in Voltron which I respect. I wish we were given two upgrade build paths, one for infect and one for people looking at keeping more with a traditional voltron or enchantments matter theme.

Abundant Growth in any enchantment deck is amazing. Color fixing, draws a card, in this deck you can play it off the top, if you have enchantress's you draw another card. so good. So is shielding Flax! It's lightning greaves that draws!

@Craig I'd definitely put in Akroma's Will instead of Triumph of the Hordes. Both are great finishers at 4CMC but Akroma's doubles as protection in a pinch and can gain you a bunch of life. It's about half the price too.

Ohh, with the example of the robe of stars, that's a pretty bad example, it won't get equipped due to SWaP's pro-white, the Robe gets un-attached/unequipped even if the robe is equipped first. the thing I see that could be a problem in this deck is protection from certain colors, as some of them may interfere with the auras and equipment. This deck would be better when you have something like scroll rack so you can return cards from your hand to the top of your deck, and ways to get flash onto the equipment and auras that you can cast from your topdeck (Vedalken Orrery, sigarda's aid [tutor it first if you don't draw it in the early turns], etc).

I really like the adds Halvar, Trygon Predator, Ardenn and Armored Skyhunter. Sun Titan is also a given! Here are my own additions to my Galea deck: Aqueous Form - one mana unblockable and set up the top of your deck every time you attack? Sign me up with this commander. Angelic Destiny - Evasion, +4 +4 and First Strike for your commander, and it does not disappear when the creature is killed. Another Rancor Sigarda, Host of Herons - Crazy good protection for your commander against sacrifice effects (the bane of voltron). Also a really good backup beater to suit up. Sigarda's Aid - Doubling up on the commander effect plus give everything flash? Sign me up.

I must disagree with you, guys. True, Greater Good is an amazing card, maybe one of the best saccoutlets that ever got printed. But dont you think fullfilling the Sole purpose of saccing the biggest beater you have just so you can protect it from Removal and gain Card Draw of it is a a waste of potential? I usually play this card in Decks like Kyler or Klauth where i get more than just one big bodies onto the board. The bigger the stuff you play and the more your deck contains, the more work this card does

I'd probably cut Greater Good; in a deck with so few creatures, you only really want to be sacrificing them if they're already heading to the graveyard. You're kinda planning to fail with it. Better to use protection spells on your creatures and keep them alive to win the game with. Instead I'd include Rishkar's Expertise, Hunter's Insight, Hunter's Prowess, Return of the Wildspeaker or Soul's Majesty in any number based on personal preference. These cards all fill the same niche as Greater Good with a variety of upsides/downsides- mana value, additional flexibility, actual monetary cost. It's really a choose your own adventure of card draw in green- just make sure you run Reliquary Tower or similar. Leave Greater Good for a deck that can use it more freely with graveyard/sacrifice themes or a higher number of large creatures.

For ramp, I'd really lean on land Auras more than the tried-and-tested 2cc mana rocks. And since we're playing with upgraded lands, probably should put in land untappers as well instead of regular mana dorks. And since we have land untappers, Freed from the Real is nice, maybe?

This may be just me, but as someone who bought the Galea deck, the first thing I did was take out the creatures like fleecemane lion or clay golem, and I didn't put in many creatures, but rather more equipment and auras. The weakness of Aura of Courage is card advantage, while I love Galea, unless you have the money for the higher-end topdeck manipulation or shuffle effects, you can't rely on having an aura or equipment on top. I disagree you need to have a high creature count in commander, but if you want to go that way along with synergizing with Galea, you can get aura or equipment that generate creatures, even if the card forces you to tap her to generate the token since she has vigilance, you can do a lot with her. I also don't like how they cut out the protection, as protecting your pieces (especially in a voltron deck), is a top priority. I think I understand the type of deck they're trying to build, but I just feel their building a Rafiq deck and not Galea.

Perfect deck to run loads of efficient mana dorks like paradise druid and noble which will help fix but also provide incredible ROI in the mid to. Also of note the deck should run at least two creature tutors for redundancy (pattern of rebirth??) and should run both Yasharn and Sigarda Host of Herons as sacrifice decks will have this one by the scrotum.

If you’re playing off the top of your library and it draws a card, it’s card draw. You get an additional card in hand, plus dig deeper for the next card to play off the top.

So somebody correct me If I am wrong but I am pretty sure that you can play a bestow creature as an aura of the top so if you decide to go the other direction focusing on Aura instead as redundant creature targets and Auras both. Though ya I get it if ya dont, casting an Aura of the top is just card advantage vs card advantage and ramp with equipment.

Nope. A Bestow creature doesn't have Aura in its type line. It only becomes an Aura if you cast it with its Bestow cost. But you can't cast it for any cost on the top of your deck with Galea because it's not an Aura.

A couple things, 3 attack with evasion is a sweet spot for payback discouragement. Also this commander seems really good for taking out combo players early and winning 1v1s with low hand sizes late. Some cards that do these things seem like a good idea. Alms Collector might have a home here or Mangara. I think Windborn muse could use a friend, maybe orzhov advokist. If your meta has a lot of battlecruiser Duelist's Heritage can really speed up the game and give you lots of good political options. Since the deck is very balanced (some value some aggro some recursion some defense) powerful cards to give you overall advantage might have a home, I like Medomai, the fair extra turn card. This deck has the potential to go ignored and if you make a point of targetting combo players you could be left alone if you're not building a massive board state, a bad card might fox players so like a stonehewer giant could fit.

I object to Infect existing. It's taking the color famous for pumping up creatures and giving trample, and giving it a win-con based on dealing 10 damage. Takes 40 to kill, 21 to kill with a commander. But nope, let's make something even easier that can be utilized by a number of things and not just a commander. Yes, it's powerful. It really just depends on if you want to win, or have fun. Because Infect makes sure only you have fun, and only for the short time you get to play

@@KolossusB If you're not tutoring for it then it won't happen every game, not even half of them. If you're tutoring for it everytime then yes I'd agree with you totally, would get stale and repetitive for your playgroup. He's one of...how many players on this Channel? 1 out of that bunch being an Infect fanboy is fine lol. If you get bored over it, fair enough but if that's his jam then I don't see how it being predictable is a bad thing when he shows up every now and then especially if there's a good rotation of players that appear on the show. The same way some players are one-trick ponies when it comes to control play, aggro play, voltron play etc, if it's in your playgroup then yes it can become an issue but if you're just at an LGS bouncing from table to table with different groups then who cares if that's all you play if it brings you joy?
