This Blake Lively drama keeps getting weirder and so much worse for her. In addition to all the cringe and out-of-touch 'It Ends with Us' interviews, another clip from eight years ago has just surfaced, and it's not a good look.

It’s about power, not about helping women, or anybody other than themselves. And that’s why they eat their own. A bunch of people who are fighting for power. The same happens for the extreme right though. Collectivism is the problem. Every time you assign individuals to a group, and shame them or praise them for that…

Blake was always going to go for the high publicity Hollywood hubby and try to be a "I've got it all gal" in the publics view.. she was dumped by Leo DiCaprio only weeks before she got with Ryan bc she wanted marriage and kids to lock in the relationship on a Brad and Angie level.. she's very ambitious..scarily ambitious from what I've seen..

Blake lives in the town I grew up in. Not that I've met her personally, but everyone I know who has say that she's lovely. My friend worked at their pharmacy and she was apparently very nice whenever she came in. She told me Ryan Reynolds is more introverted and keeps his head down, but Blake is very personable and would start up conversations with whoever was working. People have bad days and pregnancy definitely messes with everyone's hormones. Do I think she came off very rude from this interview? Yes. But she's a person and we all get into moods and do/say things we later regret. Unfortunately, she has to be recorded for a majority of her job and those moments get published to the world.

I also feel like the gender of the person asking plays a big part in how a question is perceived. I know we like to pretend the genders are totally equal in every scenario but that’s just not the case. If a woman asked me if I was wearing underwear in a tight outfit, I would assume it’s because she has dealt with the struggle of annoying panty lines and is genuinely curious if I just had to skip it or if I found a pair that worked to avoid them. If a man asked if I was wearing underwear, I would question his intentions. He probably doesn’t have any experience wearing thin, skintight pants as they are not in for men so he has no reason to ask besides being curious about my undergarments which can come off as a little sexually inappropriate. Like why does him knowing if I’m wearing underwear matter? Just seems weird, especially if he is a straight man because the dynamic is different there as well. If Blake wanted her “girl boss” sexist question shutdown moment, she should’ve waited for an inappropriate question from a man - not a fashion question from a woman working for a fashion magazine like come on.

I think I would have walked out. It’s such a bully behavior to sit and have a conversation on the side. You know their PR people are there watching the whole thing. I also have a degree in Journalism and worked in television. The claim that reporters were asked beforehand not to mention the pregnancy is unconfirmed, as far as I know, but it would explain why the situation reads as though we're missing context. I agree that you have to wonder why this is coming out now. If the reporter accidentally missed the pregnancy-memo or forgot the agreement and the actresses assumed she was being purposefully disrespectful (maybe another interviewer had pushed the issue before this moment), why publish this at all? Especially using click-baity terms like 'my nightmare interview' and 'the interview that made me want to quit my job'. Lively's reaction is so strange and rude, it's hard to imagine anyone would react like that without reason, especially considering the almost protective behavior of her co-star. It's also hard to believe the reporter never figured out why they reacted like this. She claims that at the time, she chose not to publish because "she wouldn't have a career now". Seems like someone picked just the right moment to publish at last. I don't know, something is off.

@@YOLOlynn thank you for saying this. Like you said, something's not right. When I first saw the video title I expected something waaaaay worse than this. I remember thinking "...that was it? that was the interview that almost made her quit her job?" after watching the clip. Also I have to say that I've watched quite a lot of celebrity interviews where someone was pregnant and if I recall all the reporters/hosts have always said "congratulations on your pregnancy", a very neutral line. I don't really understand why the reporter had to use the word "bump"? It sounds a bit weird to me in that setting and I'm from the Nordics too. Did SHE actually want to get a reaction out of Lively?? And why was she so vague about the clothing question? It left a lot of room for misunderstanding. She could have said something like "this film takes place in 1930s. What are your thoughts on clothes from that era and were they represented appropriately in the film?" etc. - to really emphasize the fact that the film is a period piece and costume design was a big deal in that film. But... she didn't. The timing of this video to resurface was also a liiiittle too convenient. I dunno, this reporter isn't as clueless and innocent as she paints herself to be.

Yes. She was upset, and in that context it was understandable. But even then (as in the example you showed, Brett, about the underwear question), she tried to respond in a bantering way, without getting rude and without shutting down the whole thing. Blake and Parker in this interview absolutely shut down the interviewer from the jump - and didn't even care that they were doing that to a woman, too! I haven’t seen Cafe Society. I haven’t seen It Ends With Us. I did study TV/Film for two years in college. Clothes are used as tools to help tell a story. When someone asks about the clothes a character wears, it’s a much deeper question than if you ask a random person on the street about their clothes. Outfits in film are specifically chosen for what they contribute. Costume design is an entire department. I do agree that actresses get asked about their clothes more often than actors, and I do think there’s something to be said about it, but that’s probably more to do with a reporter that doesn’t understand what they’re asking than with sexism. It’s a very valid question for an actor or actress. Clothes in film convey a lot of meaning about a character.
