The movies are horrible but honestly the books are pretty good and even have some conservative values. Bella wants to have sex with Edward before marriage but he tells her no, they need to wait for marriage. Also, she becomes pregnant after they get married, find out the pregnancy could kill Bella, but still work to save Bella and the child. It's not a woke book at all. Granted, it has some flaws as do most romance novels, and I haven't read it in years. But I think it's a perfectly safe romance book for girls to read as opposed to many of the porno "romance" novels that are out there.

09:34 Brett, Game of Thrones is the title of the first book in the series of Song of Ice and Fire. It's an adaptation, not an inspired work. Beowulf was a story (possible historical allegory) that was among many in Indo-European folklore that inspired the fantasy genre. The father of modern fantasy, J.R.R. Tolkien, drew upon both this folklore and elements of his own experience living through WWI and WWII to create the foundation of what fantasy is today. The Song of Ice and Fire, however, was heavily influenced by the War of The Roses more-so than anything while pulling from fantasy tropes set by folklore and Tolkien's works.

If anything, you are chaste and pure, and are not jaded by the ills of our decrepit society. To everyone else... You could learn a lesson from the life of Brett Cooper. Her mother is very smart.

Senior year, English, high school. We had to read Beowulf, specifically the one translated with an introduction by Burton Raffel. I loved it but everybody else in my class hated it! My two favorite lines: 1. In his far-off home Beowulf, Higlac’s follower and the strongest of the Geats - greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world - heard how Grendel filled nights with fear.. 2. I have heard, too, that the monster’s scorn of men is so great that he needs no weapons and fears none. Nor will I. My Lord Higlac might think less of me if I let my sword go where my feet were afraid to, if I hid behind some broad linden shield: my hands alone shall fight for me, struggle for life against the monster. God must decide who will be given to death’s cold grip.

Drugs, teen pregnancy, racism, alcohol abuse, suicide, sexually transmitted diseases, and on and on and on. There really weren't any topics that were off limits, and because they had PHENOMENAL writers and actors, they were able to handle even the most difficult topics with sensitivity AND realism.
