BFS Chub on the Tsurinoya Dark Wolf BFS reel. I get up and personal with some Chub. After catching some smaller Chub i felt the shoal had spooked so waded out to try and discover where they had gone. My suspicions proved to be correct and after tuning the reel i managed to land my lure in their lair, but would i hook one?
Why not give BFS a go. BFS stands for Bait Finesse System. It was invented as a means of throwing ever increasingly light lures with bait casting reels to extremely pressured fish. Here in the UK we are generally throwing lures from 1gr up to 10gr.
It takes a little practice but once mastered it can be very satisfying.

It is becoming part of the enjoyment for me but I ain’t that good yet. When you land it on the money though and get that instant hit it’s a great feeling.

@@TheConstantAngler it won't be long judging by the video. I have to admit I flip and pitch as much as I do overhead and sidecast (maybe more) and that gets you on the money with the slightest of splash. Although sometimes I think that brings the Chub to the boil

Just what I needed in the dead of winter, as I contemplate switching from fly fishing to BFS. There's obviously some crossover with the lighter baits/flies, and I'm intrigued by the greater range of opportunity that BFS might bring. Chub aren't usually a desired gamefish over here in southern Ontario, Canada, but if they reached the size you were catching I think we'd target them for the sport. Appreciate your channel and all this theoretical learning during the cold months.

Very nice River! Really enjoyed to watch it. What rod are you using in this video? I’d like to get one for small trout streams in my area. Not my main fishing application, so I‘m in search for one that doesn’t break the bank....

Nice fishing, is there a reason you have the lure hanging that low from the rod tip when you cast? If you have it hanging closer to the tip it will probably cast better. Personally I find the only reason to have a lure hang a bit lower is if it is really light, and you are having trouble casting it. Usually I have the lure hang maybe 4 to 8 inches. Some guys have it at the tip even.

In general, the further you let it hang, the more distance you can get on the cast, a very short distance will result in lesser distance but better accuracy.

Yeh I think when casting close shorter is better but when distance a little longer. To be honest I get a bit excited and don’t concentrate sometimes but what you say is true.
