@@thatloafofbread8311 That is insane. Here in the US it goes by state. NY state you can homeschool but you must do everything the school does. In states like Alabama all you have to do is tell the school your kid isn't coming. No paperwork or anything. Some think it's bad. It's not though. In the beginning of America the colonists were marched at gunpoint into the first schools. True story. Just remember, you're in charge of your future, make time for hobbies and that is where you will learn the most :) School is just something we suffer through.

I was homeschooled for less than one year in 6 grade but it greatly impacted me positively. I now homeschool my four children. I've homeschooled for 7 years so far. It's definitely a wonderful journey and I'm so thankful to be able to provide this for my children. People often say "it must be nice to afford to be able to do that" but I view it as I can't afford not to. Also, when you want something enough, you can often make it work. Technically we are lower middle class and have just enough. But we don't need extra. I don't need to take my kids to Disneyland or buy them the latest gadget. They need nurture, love and guidance - and that to me is worth the cost of having a lower income. Money isn't everything and you can't take it with you. Your legacy goes on. Blessings to you. I was a highly sensitive child, introverted, and an artist who attended traditional schools for my entire education. I found it very distracting and chaotic, plus I also was teased by my peers because I was so anxious and different from the mainstream. I wish i could have had home schooling or attended a Montessori school growing up. I didn't do well academically at junior and senior high schools, but once I went to college and later university where I majored in art, I excelled. You were quite fortunate that your Mother was so attuned to her children's different sensitivities and was able t home school you while your siblings were better able to handle traditional school. Meanwhile I love your embroidery projects which are just as enchanting and magical as your paintings. Jenny

I can relate, but I kinda overcame it when I changed schools at 17. Before that I went to many schools (8 or more) including a Montessori school for half a year. While I like the idea, I got very lost. Being used to guidance, I was lost in the do it by yourself path and soon drifted into only doing stuff I liked: writing stories for language courses and art and history. I didn't understand a bit of maths anymore and had to go back to normal school and redo the year, but it was a good time because I didn't get bullied after severe bullying. I also got bullied again and kinda made my way through it. As a senior I got normal grades and went on to study architecture. I excelled in design and architecture psychology, in concept and history. Education should be rewritten into ways that cater towards the interest of a child. I even began to understand maths and Physiks, because it was finally about topics that interested me. If anybody is out there that is struggling, you will get through it and once you are in something that inspires you, you will flourish.

I don’t think everyone was meant for public school either. When I was in elementary school, my family moved to a new state. I experienced bullying in the form of shunning. People would find ways to not sit with me at lunch, I was constantly patronized by my peers, even teachers , and anything that required group work and being with partners (like for lab partners) was a nightmare for me. I was always the second to last or last person picked in games and I found myself alone all the time. This affected my grades and I became socially awkward. I developed severe socially anxiety and difficulty trusting people. I had struggled with reading because everyone told me I sucked. I hated reading out loud all the time. This all changed when I went to college. Suddenly there there was no pressure to be in cliques or groups and my grades were great. I am a lawyer now but I still have bad flash backs of the social exclusion. Some people just thrive better in environments when there is not a lot of people. If I had homeschooling or distance learning I would have had a better time in school. Thanks for this video. This hit home to me so much.❤

Overall it was harder to school from home with time, money restraints, but my children were generally better behaved, happier, and less led by other children thus their morals were sweet, and they remained innocent. It was more fulfilling to homeschool them. And given the choice again, I would NEVER put them in a Public School system again. It is the biggest regret I have.

I grew up going to public school in a small town. I was just barely five years old (September birthday). I was truly not ready for this experience. I was very close to my Mom and couldn’t understand why she was leaving me there. I cried and cried because I missed my Mom and Grandparents at home. I cried for at least two weeks every time my Mom left me there. So my schooling was off to a really bad start. As time went on I settled in but for some reason I could not pay attention. I daydreamed and was more interested in the birds in the trees outside or the snow falling. I did not have a lot of friends maybe because I just didn’t want to be there. I did walk to school with my siblings and cousins and that was fun. Sometimes we cut through the woods to get to school. That was always an adventure. In the woods I felt safe and sometimes I would hide there to be alone with myself. School was not an enjoyable time for me. Back when I grew up homeschooling was not even thought about. But I feel I would have benefited from it if it was available. I grew up hating school and that was a sad and wasted part of my childhood and teen years. I’m still a daydreamer and I think it will keep me young forever. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Have a blessed week.

Your content brought deep calmness literally from within the gut to heart.... and I mean it. I love nature myself and have often cried when I am with mother nature. Everything is so beautifully captured in your videos. It's a heaven where ever you are living. Rustling of leaves and grass .. that enigmatic burble of lake... faint humming of insects .. the wind and the hills....that soft crispy noise of snow.. I am sure that every thing in nature must be communicating with each other. That lonely tree which I saw in your video is not alone. Birds are coming to meet the tree, wind will play with it and the rains will shower it's love. You have the dog with you and that's a perfect companion. It's such a adorable animal to have. Being an artist yourself, I love the way you create any thing in such a gentle and artistic way. I think this is the best channel I have ever subscribed till date. I'm a pretty sensitive, artistic person, and I went to traditional school until early high school. Then I burned out, and asked my mom to homeschool me. I'm so glad she agreed! Homeschooling allowed me to pursue my interests - I learned to garden and I raised pigeons. I went to a homeschool co-op where we took subjects that were harder for parents to teach, and we put on plays. I met my future husband there:) We now have 5 children and I homeschool them. It's not always easy working with the different ages, but I still love doing it. I love reading books together, taking nature walks, tending our garden, and letting each child pursue the subjects that really resonate with them. I realize not everyone is in a position to homeschool. I do, however, appreciate the lack of peer pressure for my children, the learning outside the classroom, and the relationships that we are building through it.

I really wish they were around when I was a child. 💚🌳🐦🐝💚

I was homeschooled, and for the most part I loved it. I read so many books, even when I should've been reading my textbooks. :) I was inquisitive and loved to ask questions until I understood the subject, which in turn I finished highschool later. I had a very good imagination and loved writing and spending time outdoors. However, my last year of highschool to "catch up" I am doing online and homeschool, which is very busy. There's not as much room for hobbies and imagination. Also, I realized technology is sometimes really an imagination killer. I didn't get a phone till like 19, but afterwards I realized I was just watching ppl do cool stuff rather than doing it. I'm trying to change that.

I always love to listen to people talk about their experiences growing up homeschooled. I'm so grateful to have been homeschooled growing up, and also to my mother who managed to homeschool all three of her children as a single working parent. I still don't know how she was able to pull that off with no support from anyone or anything, and even though there was a lot of struggle, I am just so grateful to have been allowed the childhood I needed . I was able to pursue my passions and any other interests I had, and I wasn't bogged down with a tedious schedule spelling out my every day. For the most part I didn't have to do homework, yet when I did, they were always fun and creative projects. I spent almost all of my time outdoors, playing, creating, playing music, building things, and learning through experience. I read all the books I could get my hands on and wrote stories of my own. I also spent years of my childhood doing various volunteer work, which taught me so many skills I use to this day. I tried going to an public school once, but it only lasted a few weeks. I felt as if I was an outsider coming into a place that wasn't meant for me and I was treated so differently. I hated it and was happy to leave. I really hope that I will have the ability to homeschool my own children when I have them and give them that same sense of creativity, freedom, and independence I had. ❤

I now have 2 children ages 7- 4 and am homeschooling them, they are thriving and is it ever rewarding when they start reading ❤️ I believe in hands on learning, cooking , gardening , currently cooking off maple syrup and hoping some of these skills will stick because they need them!

This is so nice.❤ I was also homeschooled until grade 8, and it was a mixed experience for me. I think the "homeschool energy" of being interested in what I'm interested in without worrying about what my peers were doing was very mentally healthy. I also played with stuffies long after others had put their stuffies away. A large reason that I was homeschooled is that my parents could tell that I wouldn't have been seen as very intelligent at school. (And as a grown woman I was finally diagnosed with ADHD and a lot of my life made sense!) It took me a very long time to understand how to read. But then when I finally got it around age 8, I loved it and was reading adult books by 10 (and children's books. I still read picture books as a grown woman. I just really love stories.) I chose not to homeschool my children, while still keeping that as an option in my mind if they should really need it. I was very lonely, as an extrovert homeschooled by an introvert. It's true that it prompted me to read more, but it wasn't really healthy, it was more like escapism. I'm still not sure if my mom just didn't get us out enough, or if I was too demanding, but it felt SO long between social events and my main memories of childhood are of filling time while waiting, and being jealous of my friends who got to see their friends every single day. On the plus side, I am still very close friends with my sister, and we have many many shared childhood memories. My son is the same way and I'm getting another perspective as an adult who is being pestered about why he "never gets to invite anyone over" when he's had friends over every weekend for a month, but it happens to be Thursday.😂 I can't imagine how much worse he'd feel if he then also didn't see friends at school every day! He actually did very well academically during Covid, I think because I was there to give him individual attention, whereas my introverted child, who reminds me of you in that she does so much better with a slow pace and deep dives into knowledge, she completely wilted, and often would come crying in the night to me about "being lonely". She's very sensitive and I wonder if she was accidentally taking my feelings as if they were hers. (That's how I felt, although I tried to be brave and positive for the children's sake) Of course, Covid homeschooling and real homeschooling are completely different. However, it did confirm for me that I do not want to do that with my children, while at the same time, it confirmed that I could. (Especially after I ditched the online learning and just made stuff up, dividing the difficulty level into three for my three children. It was MUCH easier than trying to make all the technology and different teachers work.)

It's been a bit since I've seen you! Hello! Snow season always delays my filming a bit, but I wanted to make a video on my childhood experience of homeschooling, which was a positive experience that affected my entire life. I did a mixture of textbook and online courses recognized by the wider school system (so my education was remote, but followed the same courses of traditional school). However, this is not a good path for everyone - nor is it feasible - and there are both positive and negative experiences out there that I'm sure are all true, as are pros and cons of other educational paths. I had a large amount of opportunities for socializing, which was also vital as I was involved in a lot of activities. So, I wanted to share how much a childhood spent mostly at home was a gift for me. Please share down below your thoughts on schooling and what works best for you, it is an interesting topic to me because I think we never outgrow learning. Sending much love

Please forgive me, this is not about schooling, but I have been waiting for you to post again so I can share this quote that reminds me of you. It is from the wonderful book, The Middle Window, by Elizabeth Goudge: "Utopias are built best in isolation. In the filthy modern world you can't make a thing that's not at once smirched; but here in these glens loveliness can be ringed round and protected by the mountains." "That's the monastic ideal," said Judy, "and I've always thought it rather selfish--a creeping away from life." "Then you have misunderstood it. The monastic ideal is a core of sanity in a loathsome world, a core of sanity that spreads. Again and again men have gone into solitude to create beauty, and the beauty, created, has revolutionized a whole country." Judy was still unconvinced. "But if nothing can get through the mountains to contaminate your Utopia, how can the beauty you create get out into the world?" "If you light a bonfire in a sheltered valley the protection makes such a huge blaze of it that those outside see the whole sky lit up."

I don’t like how school teachers are or music. Art is an expression form and every artist is going to create something different with the same idea. This means teachers can’t grade art. It’s not proper because it’s a subjective thing and everyone’s gonna have their own opinions which are all valid and important. Are you in school is graded on how it looks but it should be graded on its story. On the effort the artist put in rather than on the end finish result. Sometimes you will have an amazing idea in your mind and when you try to bring it out on paper doesn’t work. But that doesn’t mean you’re less artistic than someone you got a better grade it just means that specific idea didn’t bloom out properly yet and maybe just require a little bit more time or thinking or a different medium. If you are graded with specific rules and guidelines you will never truly be able to show off that creativity and it may even take away your motivation as an artist which isn’t right. It’s the same for music. I am a lyricist and vocalist myself in music is my expression form. I don’t do too great in music class because it’s not about that. It’s not about reading a book and then writing a song to express your thoughts on that book for example. It’s about learning specific things from a curriculum. There we go. Artz in school isn’t about that creativity or expression that are in the real world it is. It’s about teachers even if they’re absolutely incredible following a curriculum that isn’t created by artists or people who truly understand the power of art. It’s sad but hopefully by discussing it on the Internet something better can happen. I know this is very long so I hope you enjoyed reading it and also I am legally blind

This video was such a blessing to me! I grew up in public schools, and I did well. I never thought I would do anything but send my kids to public school, but '20 happened, and I pulled our oldest and brought her back home. Homeschooling has been amazing for us. Both my children are thriving in it and love discovering things, and I love exposing them to literature even younger than they would have in school. We have had a few negative comments from people recently (because of their general idea of what homeschool is)which have left me a bit discouraged. Hearing such a positive story from someone who experienced it firsthand has been an encouragement tonight!

You're among a high number of parents, not a small minority. Often people fear the unknown, and misjudge it as a result. Others feel bad they won't or can't do it, so they act like it's weird. But 30% of Americans are homeschooled to some degree, and 100% were during '20. Many presidents were homeschooled; our forefathers were too - and they were amazing thinkers, often eloquent writers and speakers. And Eleanor Roosevelt said it best, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

I moved a lot as a child. 12 schools by 12th grade. I also was overwhelmed by the noise and did my best work in those desks with 3 sides;P even in college. As soon as I got home from school I went into the woods with my brothers, built forts and miniature villages with mud and sticks. I learned later that I was both shy and an introvert. Different needs for different kids. Kudos to your mom for recognizing your needs. Lovely story!

Thank you for this lovely explanation of your homeschooling experience. I started schooling my children at home 33 years ago when homeschooling wasn't "cool", and it was a gift for our family. We all developed a desire and ability to pursue a lifetime of learning, caring for people, creativity, and strong work ethics. Homeschooling doesn't solve every problem in life, but it can give some children a better chance in a world that is often chaotic or too conforming, noisy or shrouded by peer pressure. As early homeschoolers, we were pioneers going into somewhat uncharted territory! Yet we trusted Jesus as we blazed our trail with other friends. Screen time was very limited, as our motto was, "Instead of watching people live, let's live!" As a result, creativity, deep thinking, and friendships flourished! Thank you again for your kindhearted sharing, Paola!

I'm a teacher, and I'm also autistic and struggled a lot with traditional school. It's hard to see how so many kids like me are left behind by traditional education and there's no resources within the schools to help them. Now I do my best to support them but it requires a lot of investment and energy that isn't sustainable. Knowing that my children are likely to be neurodivergent as well, i imagine i will send them to Montessori or Gardner programs to better support them if given the opportunity

Thank you for sharing your homeschooling experience. I started homeschooling my children 36 years ago when it was very uncommon. It was one of the most enriching experiences my children and I had. We spent so much time in nature, raising farm animals, reading books, and visiting museums. They had many of their own projects going in their free time and they were blissfully unaware of current ‘trends’ and fearlessly followed their own hearts, which to me was the biggest plus. We belonged to a home schooling group that had about 135 kids total, so there was no lack for socializing, but the kids interacted with all age groups, 5-17, and each child was a special individual and could talk with adults with ease. A very special time in my life. 💕

This is why I would love to see the change that allows for homeschooling or public school options for children. Every child is different, and learns differently. Some kids thrive in public settings, some would be better with quieter learning. I would homeschool my kids if I could afford it because I felt I could have greatly benefited from homeschooling. I was sent to public because my mom insisted I needed it for socialization. As an adult, I have really bad social anxiety and do not get social cues at all. Meanwhile cousins of mine that were homeschooled are much more comfortable in social situations.

I felt very needed and useful in the private schools where I was the school "librarian" and was allowed to assist the younger children with their learning. I loved schooling K-12 all together in the same building and being with all ages as well as my siblings. I am a homeschool mother of 12 children, still schooling the youngest 5. I grew up in a small town and attended a One Room Schoolhouse and a high school with only about 300 students total. So I had a precious schooling experience. But I choose to home educate my children because...No one knew them better, cared more or would be able to spend more one on one time with them. We were part of an Awana group which taught them many priceless skills (a lot of memorization) and took wonderful field trips with our homeschool group. Wouldn't change what we did for anything. Thank you for sharing. This is definitely one of my favorite videos you've made [and I Love and treasure them all, [looking forward to each one]. The embroidery projects are so special and lovely. The downside for me is I didn't learn social skills and knew no one at my high school. It was terrifying but I did make a small group of friends. After only 4 years of public school I was very tired of the environment, being cooped up all day felt like being in jail compared to the flexibility of home. When I have kids I'd like to homeschool

I was homeschooled starting in fourth grade all the way through high school. I heard about when I was in first grade and I asked if I could transfer, because I had a love for learning and I already understood that traditional schooling wouldn't give me the freedom to learn everything I wanted to at my own pace and my own style. During third grade I dealt with bullies (both child and adult), losing friends, not being challenged where I needed it and struggling to keep up in other areas (not to bash all public schools, just my own experience, and unfortunately they've only gotten worse where I live). At that point my mom realized that I was already learning so much more at home anyway so she agreed to homeschool me. All four of my siblings followed, and I couldn't be more grateful for this experience. I got to spend my days playing outside for hours, reading classic literature, studying pirates and the United States constitution, starting my own business, and performing in musicals and Shakespeare plays. Best education I could have asked for. Thanks, Mom. Thank you so much.

Good Morning Paola! I stumbled upon your channel in late 2020 and have loved you ever since. Though I am now in my 60's, I wish my mother would have been able to homeschool me back in the 60's and 70's. I was an emotionally sensitive child like you and thrived in quiet spaces, reading books and lost in thought. Noise and crowded places brought on anxiety. In my early 20's I married and we had 5 children. My husband and I agreed that homeschooling would be a good choice for our children and we have never regretted it. I know not everyone has that choice or even wants to choose that form of education, but I have always been thankful that we had the choice and were able to do it even though it was tough financially. Btw, I love all the different ways you do your hair and your different outfits. Great style!!

I started homeschooling my 14 yo son with autism and adhd this year. Public school just didn't work out for him. He needs more breaks in the day and more tailoring to him specifically. I'm absolutely loving it!💕 In my state there aren't any requirements for homeschooling, so I get to come up with everything on my own and I believe with God's help, and also my Hubby puts his two cents in here and there. I'm very thankful for the flexible scheduling we have with him. I'm also thankful he won't be involved in any school shootings which several have come up lately in this area but thankfully stopped before they happened. I personally believe public schools are on their way out. If this is true I hope some organization comes up with some kud groups that do some kind of service or something else meaningful.

I have a daughter who is struggling with focusing during class. She’s always complaining about the noise level. I thought about homeschooling her but don’t know where to start. Did you ask the school about homeschooling programs or was it more researching on your part?

So glad to hear this. I'm a homeschool mom (I do work part time) and I have been LOVING it. My kids love it to and said they have no desire to go back to public school.

I think homeschooling is a gift to treasure. I went to public schools when I was little and sent my children to public schools but there is so much to be said for individualized learning and catering to a child's strengths. I believe groups and connections with other children are significant as well. Great video!

I homeschool my 3 children and I went to a traditional public school. Like you mentioned, learning outside of a single building has been amazing for my children; museums, nature, etc all have wonderful learning opportunities. I love how my kids are maturing at their own rate and keep interests that they truly love rather than being swayed by a peer group. I always felt weird for my "strange" interests as a child in public school and I love how they have the opportunity to stay true to themselves as well as pursue topics that are of real interest to them.

"Finding what works best for the student " hits the nail on the head. I was a long time public high school teacher and mentor to new teachers. Shifting the focus from presenting content to providing the environment and experiences that promote individual learning is a challenge for even the most dedicated and skilled educators. Especially in overcrowded classrooms! As you say, no method is intrinsically better than another. And, unfortunately, alternatives may not be available. You are fortunate to have parents who recognized how you learned best and provided a wonderful mix of opportunities and experiences.

You know firsthand about what Paola speaks. ONE teacher in 7th grade finally “saw” me and validated my one talent for words! I am so grateful and found that teacher, when I was an adult, and wrote her a thank-you note!

I know my daughter plans on homeschooling her son, I am thankful for her dedication ! Her husband was raised much in the same way as you.

Dear Paola, thank-you for sharing your story, and for your incredibly balanced approach to this discussion. Your mother's sacrifice is evident in the fruits of her labour, your relationships. Love from Canada 🍁 from a former elementary school teacher, musician & homeschooling parent

I agree! Her perspective and story sharing is enthralling, like reading a good book you just can't put down. But your children must be very talented to have a former elementary school teacher, musician and homeschooling parent! That is so inspiring in itself!

I relate to this a lot. I was also a sensitive child (And I am honestly still a sensitive person), and I was homeschooled through my whole childhood. I thrived in that kind of environment as well, and I also matured at my own pace, which happened to be slower than my peers. As a young adult now, I happily live a simple and peaceful life. From my highschool graduation through my early 20's I faced a fair amount of judgement from some people in my life because of my education and lifestyle. I wasn't making the same kinds of choices that people my age were "supposed" to make, and therefore they assumed something must be wrong with me. A person insisted to me that people could be "ruined" by being homeschooled and that homeschool is the worst option for children. They insinuated that my lifestyle wasn't okay and I needed to be like other people my age - aka, have a fast paced, career centered life. I have nothing against that kind of life, but it just isn't for me. I suffered many years of sorrow because of wanting things for my life that were so different from what people expected of me. It was so important to me that this person in my life understood and accepted me for who I am. I wanted them to understand how integral it is to provide different types of education according to what the student needs, rather than trying to shape a child to fit into a type of education that doesn't work for them. I wanted them to understand that I'm not "broken" for being raised alternatively and living simply. But instead of understanding that *all* people are different and need different kinds of things to thrive, I was insulted and demeaned to my face. I'm no longer in contact with that person, but their judgement left me with scars. To be so horribly misunderstood and insulted, simply because of who I am and choose to be, was so hurtful. It has caused me to second guess who I am as a person so many times. But it's refreshing and validating to see someone like you, who I can relate to in so many ways, being so positive about this kind of life. You make me feel less alone. Thank you. ❤

I loved hearing your story! I attended many public schools in the 60s (dad was a sort of nomad) and managed to earn enough credits to graduate at 16. However, taking time out to work, marry, and raise a family meant I didn’t finish college (earning a bachelor’s in English) until I was 50! I loved going back to college as an adult with all that life experience behind me.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Everything about this video just exudes beauty in so many, many ways! We're a homeschool family and my prayer is that one day my children reflect on homeschooling and their childhood in such a way!❤

I wasn’t honeschooled, but my parents really fostered my imagination and it has really fueled me as a person and I am so grateful for it. I, too was doing things that many of my peers grew out of, but I never cared. I am finding now in my 30’s that I’m revisiting those parts of me and rediscovering my imagination as an adult. I told myself that this year would be my most whimsical year and I am so ready for it. Love this video!

As a homeschooling Dad who was also homeschooled, this is such a great balanced perspective!! It's been something I feel privileged to be able to do, though it is also quite a sacrifice of time and resources (for us it's meant 1 paycheck instead of 2). We've been open with our kids that there is nothing wrong if they'd rather go to school, but so far they've all been loving homeschool for many of the reasons mentioned here. Something that feels different from when I was homeschooled in the 90s is it's more accepted these days. I remember my Mom being careful of us being seen out during school hours and keeping a bag by the front door with proof of our curriculum because she new homeschoolers back then that had their kids removed by child services for being "truant". That's not so much a concern for us today.

Everything about this video really resonates for me. Our girls are 18 and 15 and we've homeschooled for the past 8 years. For us it was a great choice. We live in the woods with a creek running through that empties into a bay. We spend a lot of days canoeing down to the Bay, seeing herons and osprey, sometimes a bald eagle, dolphins. They've learned so much biology without even realizing it. I laughed when you said Billy Joel- he's a favorite of my eldest daughter's. She also loves modern composers like John Powell, who I'm sure most girls her age have never heard of. My youngest is a writer. She went from refusing to read (but listening to audio books for hours) to picking up a pen to write a book and she hasn't stopped writing for the last 2 years. My eldest is an introverted HSP (like me, but for her much more so) so she would never raise her hand to ask a question in class if she was lost and fell "behind" because her teachers didn't realize she didn't get it until test time. My youngest was much slower to mature than her peers and I think that made being at home a good choice. I do miss the days of sitting on the front porch swing and reading aloud to them Little Women or Jane Austen or Little House on the Prairie while they crocheted scarves. But they're older now and the dynamic changed when I went to work full time. But I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. Thanks for this video. As a parent I second guess my choices sometimes, so it's good to see other homeschooled people doing well.

I grew in moving nearly 26 times in 16 years because of the military. It was very rigid, and I definitely struggled and slipped through the cracks. I can relate to everything you have shared. Thank you!

As a person who was homeschooled, and is now homeschooling their own children, I enjoyed this video. I also grew up in a household that limited technology and read countless books as a result. I grew up listening to my mom's eclectic cross-cultural musical tastes, also, including classical, indigenous flute music from the Andes mountains, Mozart, Vivaldi, Chopin, The Beatles, Jackson 5, James Brown, Sly and The Family Stone, Gordon Lightfoot, Luther Vandross, everything from Motown, pop music from the 80s and 90s. It should come as no surprise that I like all kinds of music, including Billy Joel...and even a little Taylor Swift😉

I love your homeschool story. Thank you for sharing. I currently homeschool our three children (12, 9, and 8 years of age). My homeschooling style sounds very similar to how your mother educated you. I also am delighted to hear that your mother is Latina and to hear that another Hispanic woman decided to take this homeschooling journey with her children is inspiring. I would love to meet your mother in a video. My middle child (first daughter) reminds me of you and how you learn, she is also extremely artistic and creative. So nice to see another homeschooled adult doing so well and happy. Abundant Blessings to you, Rosalie Cetina

My daughter is much like you. I recognized after third grade that public school just was not for her. I took her out and was so pleased to see her feel better and gain confidence through homeschooling. When covid hit and the schools shut, I took my son out and we've homeschooled both since then. They both have the option to go back whenever they want to. I ask each year how they feel and if they want to go back. My daughter especially has done amazing in homeschool, she's like you about noises. She was always ready to lay on the couch when she got home and just be quiet. She still values her quiet time. I think homeschool depends on the child, some would do poor and others thrive.

For various reasons, I would love to homeschool my son who is currently in public school. It seems impossible at the moment due to circumstances but listening and watching your video is so inspiring and encourages me to not give up, but find a way and work towards this goal.
