According to John Fogarty he got the idea for thus song when they played Woodstock in 1969. Their set got pushed way back and they ended playing in the rain in the wee hours of the morning when most of the crowd was passed out, or asleep. Been listening to them for over 50 years now.
@ElCrab Жыл бұрын
That’s Who’ll Stop the Rain. Have You Ever Seen the Rain? is about the band reaching their peak while also coming apart. Tom Fogerty would leave CCR after this album, and it was the beginning of the end.

The video was made 40 years after the song, but it fits, in an ODD WAY, you see Raining on a sunny day is a metaphor for moving on from the doo & gloom life has thrown your way. In the song its dark, gloomy and raining but the sun is still shining through a wee bit, that stands for hope. This girl in that video was MOVING ON, she understood that her boyfriend, and her friend now had a thing for each other, she was sad, but MOVING ON. The song on the radio made her remember that scene in her life. No one gets that video.

Rock is a combination of different music: blues, country, folk, and jazz to name a few. Here you can hear the clear country music strain. Some of songs by CCR, the Eagles, Allman Brothers, Pure Prairie League, and Marshal Tucker Band are also heavily influenced by country music.

They all went to El Cerrito High School, a mile from where I live, though I grew up in New York. John Fogerty wrote so many great songs. Wow. I read through a few dozen of the comments, but no one seemed to get this video. This was my time (perhaps not the video, but the song and the band) -- I grew up in the 60s and 70s. My take (and it seems to me to be clearly and perfectly reflected in the video) is that the man and the blonde women were a couple, and that both the women were best friends. The darker haired woman had a crush on the man (communicated by her "whatever" attitude in the bar as she walks by them, and her longing gazes at him in other points of the video), and he noticed that (communicated by concerned looks he gave her at the campfire, among other places), but her love (?) for him was unrequited, so she was leaving. That said, I love The Couple Crib's reaction to this -- they seem to be actually a great couple, and their reactions to songs seems genuine and actual -- something missing in a great many of the reactors to such tunes -- the songs of my youth, and music that just beats the hell out of (most) current day tunes in raw talent and originality -- there was no autotune in those days. Anyhow, watch the video again, listen to the lyrics: "...have you ever seen the rain? Comin' down on a sunny day". The dark-haired woman's "sunny day" is when she gets to spend time with the man she is infatuated with or loves; her "rain on a sunny day" is that she'll never be with him because he's with her best friend, and he's (perhaps) to honorable a man to do that to his girlfriend and the dark-haired women's best friend. Realizing this, the darker-haired woman is packing up and leaving, heartbroken. Prove me wrong.

This band leader and this record company had legendary battles over the rights to this song and others. Presumably the reason they made this odd video decades after the fact, is somehow related to that; the record company just trying to cash in once more on a hit song, without fear of offending the artist or needing permission.
@stephenmaclean342210 ай бұрын
The lyrics of the song only matter to the movie clip if you see the movie. The movie is made decades after the song. The character is remembering a bunch of events from the “movie” and she associates them with that song.
