Crafsman, I am not new to modeling and crafting, and I even have a degree in art. I have been watching Gaslands crafting videos for weeks and the amount of information and ideas I get from your videos is an order of magnitude beyond what I get out of other videos. I am so impressed by the way your videos are so dense with information and instruction, and yet so entertaining that even my young kids can follow what you're doing. They probably quoted your Luke and Vader dub for about 3 weeks, which is forever in kid time!

Eric, I wanted you to know how much I value your encouraging words. "Dense with information" is what I really needed to hear. Sometimes I wrestle with whether I've put in too much or too not enough. I do try to share stuff that is beneficial and practical, and it is encouraging to get this kind of feedback. Thank you so much.

@@TheCrafsMan I agree, your videos are just FULL of useful information that no one else can compete. I've watched gasland mod videos for a little over a year now and when I saw that you started I flipped my lid. I've learned so much more from your two videos than I have had that entire year. Was I robbed? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe it was to prepare me for the awesome content you bestowed upon us mere mortals. :)

Ok so, honest confession... Sometimes I fade out watching these videos and find myself just listening to Crafsman talk through my headphones... Theres something very Bob Ross about his style that just chills me right out. Nothing better after a stressful busy day then laying on my favourite couch that is way more comfy than it looks and grabbin my phone and headphones and just decompressing with the Crafsman. Criminally underrated channel imo.

Admitting a suggestion was the better option but explaining how you used what was readily available is such an important lesson. We don’t always have the best materials or access to them. The heart of crafting has always been innovators making something out of nothing. I truly appreciate you. And the deadpan dad jokes! “Allow me to introduce you to today’s guest speaker” - people are sleeping on your comedic wit.

Hey CrafsMan, I design jewelry and do the same thing you do: 3D print the object, then create a mold from it but I use Mold Star 15 (curing time 2-4 hours). This is a great for slow-curing molding material. A tip i learned a while back, especially when working with smaller , detailed parts is to use a silicone brush to apply the molding material first to the surface of the piece.. Once you've coated your piece with a generous amount of brushed on molding material, slowly pour it onto the piece, this will greatly reduce the amount of bubbles on the surface of the model; in fact, I've never had any bubbles appear on mine. This is ideal for when you don't have access to a pressure chamber. Thought I'd pass this along since you've always done an awesome job sharing your knowledge. Keep up the great work!
@kalam999
@kalam999 Жыл бұрын
For the reduction of bubbles, you can use a syringe for that. Start with half the syringe volume of mold liquid, and then pull back the plunger all the way and create a vacuum and remove bubbles. It's a cost effective way, not sure if it could be helpful for your jewellery making

MORE THOUGHTS ABOUT THE WATER-WASHABLE RESIN (Stuff I forgot to say in the video!): - The ODOR of this resin is a lot less objectionable than I'm used to. Standard Anycubic Green is the least pleasant I've experienced, with Elegoo Gray being far more tolerable. But this Elegoo Water-Washable is the most pleasant out of the bunch, to me. Still some odor there, but no headaches this time. :) - For CLEANUP alone, this will be the resin I lean towards. So much more enjoyable. I didn't have to do the multi-step clean on the FEP film to get it back clear. (Normally I'd clean, it'd go cloudy, and I'd clean again.) Just soap and water now. - As far as STRENGTH... like I mentioned in the video, all 3D prints are an inbetween step for me. Since I always prime/seal, mold and cast to get the final part, it only needed to be strong enough to withstand that. When breaking parts away from the supports, it felt about as snappy as the Elegoo gray I was used to, but I can't say which is technically the stronger resin.

CrafsMan, I REALLY appreciate you showing how you clean your 3D printer. I've not seen or heard of anybody else doing that in a video. Not that they haven't, but I saw you do it 1st. That's not something I've considered. Just thanks for doing that. Have a great day & we all love you too.

I've always dreamed about doing all the things you do on your show but could never afford to do the awesome crafts you do. Most recently he asked me to make him a detectives style badge for him to match his favorite cop on his fav cop drama. So I used a cheap little jr sheriff's deputy badge from the western store and a few layers of foam paper with superglue and then a belt clip from an old tape measure. After some steady crafting, boom detective Juice (My nephews nickname)!

Inhibit x is you friend when using platinum silicones . Or Tamiya primer the 3d printed part first . Or just use tin and you'll never have to worry about any of this .

Hey Crafsman, you can make moulds out of UV printed resin parts without priming/clear coating them if you use tin-cured silicone. The reaction you have is due to platinum-cured silicone. I had this too, but with tin cured silicone, no more uncured moulds!
