I like to use the narrow plastic bags from some sub shops for trash in the car - because they are narrow, they aren't in the way of the passenger's legs.
@leslie69383 жыл бұрын
I use a couple small trash cans in my house and bought some liners in bulk at Sams or Costco’s awhile back. By liners I mean no frills trash bags, like work offices use. You know how you make a small knot to secure the liner (or plastic grocery store bag) to the trash can? You can secure 4 or 5 liners at once. Just secure a liner to the can with a knot as usual. Then place another liner inside the can (on top of the first liner) and secure it with a knot. Repeat this process until you can’t fit any more, I usually get five. I think this would work with grocery store bags instead of liners. When it’s time to empty the trash, you just remove the top liner which is full of trash, and your trash can has the next clean liner already attached, it’s ready to go and you don’t have to do anything at all. Since I empty my small trash cans weekly, I only have to fuss with securing the liners to the can about once every five weeks. Extra tips: 1) When you have several liners/bags secured to the trash can, it may seem like there’s no room for trash, the liners kind of puff up from air trapped between them. This is normal, don’t worry, the liners will settle in as air escapes, and the weight/volume of trash further helps to eliminate the puffiness. 2) When you tie the knot to secure each liner, stagger the knots around the can rather than positioning all of the the knots in the same place for each liner (on top of each other). It’s easier to tie the knots when you stagger them, but more importantly, when you remove the top liner filled with trash, you won’t accidentally pull the next clean liner(s) with it at the same time. Thats it, quick and easy. Your small trash cans are prepped for the next few weeks. Lazy or efficient, you be the judge...! 😂

That way they could be disposed of. In England we have a hook for the shopping bags on the front, I put my bag in the trolley and loop the straps around the hook and then place my shopping bags on top. It’s not as full proof but if someone grabs my bag then everything falls off the trolley. I think I’m going to get a carabiner for my short handled bags that don’t reach. Tbh though I tend to lock my bag in the car and only take my phone in to pay/with my shopping list on.

Lol! My parents home was built in 1952. They bought it in 1972, and remodeled the bathroom in 1980. When they took out the old medicine cabinet, there was a boatload of rusty old razor blades there. None were my dad's because he had been using a Norelco electric shaver since about 1975, and always threw away his razors in the waste can when he used a safety razor. Yes I have seen that video a few times over the years, it is so funny! I re-used my kids baby cribs for drying clothes or winter gear! I re-use the plastic bags for the small trash cans in our house, like the one in the bathroom! I use to fold them football style(use to be an old highschool note passing folding method or the game) But I found a quicker way but still takes up less room and no mess! You shake it out and lay flat as it would look if it wasn't used before, then fold in half and half again then from the bottom fold up about 1/2 to 1 inch fold all the way to the handles, then stick your hand in the handles and wrap the loop around 1-3 times around the folded up piece and it stays in place, small and tangle free! Then I keep them in the empty cylinder oatmeal containers!

I used to see my Dad drop razor blades through the slot. When I began leg shaving, I did the same because we did not yet have disposable razors back then. As for the oatmeal, I remember doing this with little single-serve boxes of cereal. We would set the box on its side and cut the box using imprinted guidelines then pour milk over the cereal. The wax liner kept everything contained. All that remained for cleanup was a spoon. Finally, because I am in several craft & sewing groups on FB, I see a lot of questions about storage and organization. I always send these people to your KZbin channel and FB page. I still have my daughter's portacrib and instead of using it for a drying rack, I'm going to find or make something that will serve as a thin shelf on each slat so I can store my rubber stamps on them. I saw a video where a lady used those acrylic box frames turned upside down to store hers, and that gave me the idea to use the cardboard trays cat food cans come in. They work great for storing my stamps (I use wood-mounted rubber stamps almost exclusively) but I had no way to store them that permitted easy access. I had thought of purchasing a rack that bakers use for cooling cookies, but now I can use something I already have that was probably going to be thrown out. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! ~ Lisa

@@TheCraftyOrganizer Sure! The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to use the cheap baking sheets from Dollar Tree instead of the cardboard trays. They'll be stronger and last longer and I'll be able to fit more stamps on each one. Also, instead of trying to find something that will be large and thin enough to be an actual shelf, I might try attaching some kind of webbing straps to the slats that the baking sheets can rest on. That stuff is easy to find and I could either staple gun or nail it to the wood slats. I think I'll be able to fit two baking sheets per slat. Think of how many stamps I could store... ~ Lisa

Yes on the razor blades! We remodeled the bathroom in the home we bought that my husband's grandfather owned. We took it down to the studs. We saw all these razor blades in the wall! I researched and found exactly what you did. Well we had already thrown the medicine cabinet in the dumpster, but I HAD to see for myself, so I drug it back out. Lol. Sure enough, there was the razor blade slot. Who knew!? There we probably a couple hundred blades.

Thank you Norrine the crib art drying system is excellent! I get tired of having to put my art work on the floor to dry, Now all I need is a crib lol 34 degrees here so sick of the cold weather and the huge heating bills, seems that now during the pandemic the utility companies are tripling the cost! Grrr! Have a great week everyone.

You are exactly right about the old medicine cabinets with razor blade slots! They are a hazard of remodeling old homes. In some cases razor blades have filled the wall between the studs up to the medicine cabinet. Trust me, you will only be careless about their removal once!
@TheCraftyOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
Yikes!!!! Guess remodel wasn't a consideration back then???? How much extra would it have been to have a chute for them to land in???

Some great tips but I didn't understand the crib/changing thingy or that clothes airer. My problem is how to store my fabric stash. Amongst other things I am a dressmaker and machine embroiderer. I have some, but not a lot of, paper stuff and you have already given me brilliant ideas for that. They don't hand out plastic bags any more here in UK but we can buy more sturdy re-useable ones which I fold in half except one and use that one to hold the rest and keep them in my car as I always forget them otherwise!
@janinafisher1013 жыл бұрын
If you put the crib on its (short) end, you have two sets of matching railings on either side on which you can set something sturdy (plywood, foamcore, cardboard, etc.) that act like shelves. You can space the shelves close together or farther apart by choosing which railings to put the shelves on.

🧶Try to use cotton socks because acrylic may melt in the microwave (ask me how I know 😂) Also, try unbleached coffee filters because they have less chemicals to leach the soil (and you😜) Keep up the great work 💖 Stay safe 😷💕

Thanks for the tips! I have to ask... how long did you have the acrylic socks in the microwave?!?! That must have been scary!
@GolfPrincessCL3 жыл бұрын
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Yes it was scary lol because I should have just warmed it up a little then flipped it and warmed it up some more. Instead I put it in for too long and didn't pay attention to it until it was too late! Surprisingly stinky too 😝

You should have a cake when you hit your goal. And that reminds me of a frosting trick I learned years ago. Before you frost the cake, cut or tear strips of waxed paper, and slide them under the edges of the cake, so the edges of the plate or carrier base are covered. Then, frost away. When finished, the strips are easily pulled out and discarded, and, voilà! No frosting mess on the edges of the plate! Bonus trick from my daughter who took a cake decorating class: To avoid crumbs in the frosting, first brush off the cake, then apply a thinned frosting to the whole, and let it sit at room temp to dry before applying the real frosting. This is actually called a 'crumb frosting,' and traps the rest of the loose crumbs, allowing the final coat to go on looking beautiful. So, go for cake! ;-) (And yes, I once lived in a place that had that razor disposal slot in the medicine chest...)
